Compressed Crafting Guide Example Techs

Description
► Licences: GSO 5, GeoCorp 3 (Venture and Hawkeye Fabricators/Scrappers can be removed by loading it in Creative and re-saving the snapshot).

► "Optimal" - The ultimate Fabrication base, engineered around the game's many crafting AI bugs and limitations. Optimised for fastest crafting and easy use.

► "Compressed" - Uses Compressed Resource Blocks in a 'cartridge' style system; rear node-silo indicators show empty which of the 11 GeoCorp scrapper are exhausted, which takes a long time; fully loaded, each scrapper caches 360 resource chunks! While avoiding the size and frame rate drop of an equivalent base holding those resources in many, many silos. Or the tedious process of figuring out which resources is needed in a smaller, mixed silo system (and manually refilling with smaller compressed blocks).

► "Fabrication" - 3 limbs ran entirely in parallel. All 6 fabricators can be switched out depending on your needs. With 1 HE Fabricator on each limb, it can make Cruise Missiles at a rate of 5.5 per minute! Despite being optimised for general purpose crafting.

► "System" - this tech is part of a systematic way of harvesting, mining, buying, converting and using Compressed Resource Blocks. By far the best way to craft in TerraTech 0.7.8.0.

► Usage Notes:

It's highly advisable to use only one of the two Fabricators on each limb, if making blocks containing Exotic (top tier) components. One Fabricator will tend to suppress the other and might occasionally lead to a log-jam, in this situation. Removing and replacing the (vestigial) refinery for that limb (at the base of the tech) should 'reset' a stuck limb without loosing stored components.

Blocks requiring unrefined resources can be made by manually scrapping other low level blocks at the top. It's then advised to use the shorter, front Fabricator limb, for optimal speed and convenience. Excess scrapped blocks will be sold, once the two 9-Pack silos are filled.

This is a pure crafting setup, but there are lots leeway for campaign players to to customise it: tuck in a bunch of batteries, bhields, Regen Bubbles, Solar Generators and defencives weapons. :-)

► Campaign loading:

• Subscribe to this Workshop item, above.
• Go to Creative mode in TerraTech.
• Click the "Load" button (bottom left of screen) and find it in the "Workshop" tab.
• Remove any blocks from the tech that you don't yet have in your play-through.
• Re-snapshot the tech, so it will now be stored as a local snapshot with your own techs.
• Load as normal in Campaign.

► Lore:

After a suspiciously stealthy comet obliterated the Geosynchronous Support Servers for half the planet, GSO's Auto-Crafting AI systems were left virtually lobotomised.

While the Corporation CEOs cast aspersions, a litany of Lawyer-bots were spooled up as festering animosity over alleged monopoly abuse reignited open hostilities in Galactic courts and prospectors faced the mundane reality of glitchy conveyor systems and enfeebled Fabricators...

Months spent fathoming logic loopholes and circumventing the idiosyncrasies via iterative engineering, finally culminated in the "Optimal Compact Crafting System" design code named "Godzilla". Undoubtedly the ultimate Fabrication monster, the rear scrapper array also reminded some of the ancient movie creature's dorsal fins. An uneasy alliance had been forged with GeoCorp, wholly to licence their proprietary compression technology for this - necessary to satiate the ravenous demands of the 3 rapid Fabrication limbs, feasting on the stacked resource buffer nodes comprising beast's central core.

Yeah, I had to log in to use the search function :^)
Thanks so much! You're totally awesome. What an asset to this community! Okay I'll stop the fanboi stuff ha ha. Much appreciate your time, I'm always learning something from your techs and vids

@Solitaire - ah, yes, the forum broke a fair bit with a server transition I think... Sad. (Even if logged in as a member, right?)

So, all the capture bases in that thread are in this zip file download: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6ccwwbd8htg24ss/2018-09-17%20Capture%20Base%20Snapshots%20%5BFinal%5D.zip?dl=1

Cheers for that - I did find your post, it's #67, but the .png link is broken :^(

@Solitaire - The petal was on of half a dozen unique bases I build for the submission thread linked in my previous comment. You can have a look through (or maybe search will work), then save the .png file and manually move it to your snapshots directory, etc.

OptiLine Petal :^)
Any chance I can get a snapshot of it, and short tutorial? It's just an amazing piece of work, I want to use it for sure!

Ran across one of your creations in-game, but can't find it here - really tall fabrication base, has lots of details. I can't recall the name at the moment, I was hoping to find it because a) I accidentally pulled out a conveyor block and have no idea where to replace it! b) was hoping for a great tutorial to read up on how to use it properly.

@NameTaken - Yeah. It's in the game as one of the capturable bases, if you're very lucky. Or you can download the .png image file from here on the forum (and stick it in your snapshots folder manually): https://forum.terratechgame.com/index.php?threads/better-mission-bases-techs-wanted.17146/post-121097

you mentioned you would remake this, did you ever?

i meant i dont usually subscribe to workshop content for bases (yours is the very first) and i modify the bases i find in campaign

Heh. I don't do co-op with creative games like this, sorry.

You should be able to bring up the workshop page of subscribed techs from the tech loader menu, when it is selected (in case you didn't realise).

Happy building.
