Description
P2000 Evil Daimyo
Counter Terrorists have switchable weapon slots for both the M4 and default pistol, as such it made sense to me to extend the Evil Daimyo M4A4 design to its counterpart unsilenced pistol: the P2000. There aren’t any technical looking P2000 skins; I'd suspect this might be due to it being overlooked as a default weapon which many people (myself included) ditch at the earliest opportunity for something with a bit more bite.

I wanted the pistol to feel more consistent with the rifle so this time I’ve toed the line as to some elements, such pattern placement, and logo placement to a degree. I have made some minor changes such as heightened contrast and further colour variation as the rifle appears a little different to what I had originally intended due to ICC profile discrepancies, and the windows/mac gamma difference, however through ingame testing I believe the finished product is a good match.

The pistol being a smaller size meant I didn’t get to use all of the patterns and elements from the rifle, but I have used space efficiently to fit in the essential parts. In fact in one particular aspect there was excess room: next to the globe icon there was a large gap - I didn’t want to repeat the two main logos excessively, so I created a new element which ties in with the rest of the design: a crop of a starburst, which I also used again for good measure on the back detail.

Technical issues and workarounds
I always come across issues with weapons that I have to adapt to: with the P2000 there seems to be some kind of shadow layer that gets applied after the skin itself which there appears to be no way to remove - in this case its the ‘P2000’ lettering on the barrel and the P2000 logo on the handle in the trapezium shape; originally the patterns overlapped these areas but with the black text blur overlaid it looked very poor, so instead of fight this I’ve incorporated it into the design - I redrew the letters as vectors and cleared the pattern areas behind it for extra clarity.

Also on the unseen side of the weapon there is a safety handle below the slide - which no matter how dark the skin alpha map is it never overrides this (I’m guessing this is part of the same shadow layer causing the above issue), as such it always appears black, or when alpha’d out completely the base texture (solid black) appears with some highlighted scratches - not a deal breaker, but needless to say I’d much prefer it grey as the skin texture and alpha map dictate.

The P2000 itself has its own predefined wear progression, with sharp wear lines on the barrel - for the most part I’ve left this alone. Also some areas have a very low threshold to any wear at all so I’ve avoided meddling with this! I did add some chipped-paint wear to the ejector chevron on the top - which appears strong at FN but is completely removed by early FT, likewise for the paint on the trigger; I also added a serial number above the safety which slowly progresses with wear to appear ‘scratched off’ to mimic it being an illicit firearm, but aside from that just minor adjustments to the magazine bottom, handle and trigger area.
