Introduction

"Hello, I am Doctor Malcom. I have spent many hours studying the plants of world, and wanted to share my findings. I've confirmed my results to the best of my abilities, but is always a chance for errors. Most of the plants are beneficial...but some are not, so knowing what you're facing is important!"

- Doctor Malcom

(Just for the fun of it, I've made this guide and decided to tack on a character as well to spice it up =P Note: All of the names and flavor text in this guide are created by me and not official to the Shelter universe - Jynn )
Common Flowers
Twin Buttercups - 5 Essence Points

"These delicate yellow blossoms, though they have 'butter' in their name, are far from tasting like actual butter. Some say they taste like lemon, very faintly, though to me they have a bit of a mint flavor. Lemon mint perhaps? No matter, this flower happens to brew my favorite tea." - Doctor Malcom
Small Grass Stalk - 5 Essence Points

"This tall grass has large leaves that make excellent snacks for a health conscious animal. While it has little favor, it also has little in it that is bad for you. Young animals prefer sweet petals over this more fibrous stalk." - Doctor Malcom
Large Grass Stalk - 5 Essence Points

"In the Autumn this plant sprouts a seed pod which, when eaten, tastes of corn. Many, especially my fellow deer and rabbits, enjoy this seasonal treat. When out of season, its large leaves make excellent bandages." - Doctor Malcom
Dual Pink Bulb Flower - 5 Essence Points

"This lovely flower is quite noticable, and I have seen it often given from one animal to another as a sign of affection. The petals themselves are quite flavorful, a pretty gift and a snack all in one." - Doctor Malcom
Blue Flower - 5 Essence Points

"The petals from this peculiar plant taste remarkably like Blueberries. It is a preferred alternate to the true Blueberry, perhaps because it has less sugar and thus less hyperactive cubs." - Doctor Malcom
Pink Blossom - 5 Essence Points

"While pretty, this flower does not have a good taste, one would almost call it sour. Despite that, many seek out the flower because if the leaves are eaten they help settle upset stomachs." - Doctor Malcom
Purple Cup Flower - 5 Essence Points

"This flower's unique petal design lets it catch rainwater and hold it within its cup shaped flower. Ants and other small insects that are attracted to a sweet oil on the insides of the petals will fall inside and drown, and the plant can absorb their remains." - Doctor Malcom
Purple Ball Flower - 5 Essence Points

"This strange plant grows a bulb similar to a tulip, with several petals tightly layered together to form a ball like shape. They protect a delicious nectar inside, but you have to get through the bitter petals first." - Doctor Malcom
Three Leaf Shrub - 5 Essence Points

"Often confused with the sapling, this small plant is a low profile one that is easy to look past. Its bark is chewy and good for sore teeth, numbing pain." - Doctor Malcom
Sapling - 5 Essence Points

"A small growing bush, this plant provides one great service to animals that harvest it: it's bark, when stripped off and chewed, will help cure head aches and muscle pain." - Doctor Malcom
Tall White Flower - 5 Essence Points

"A single white flower growing upon a tall, thin stem. Not much to look at, nor to eat, but the sap in the large leaves make an excellent burn ointment." - Doctor Malcom
Trident-flower - 5 Essence Points

"The three flowers that top this stiff, twiggy stem are small and pink, but when eaten are quite sweet, with a almost mint like taste. These will help ease sore throats if eaten in sufficient quantities." - Doctor Malcom
Twin Stem Bush - 5 Essence Points

"Perhaps the most notable feature of this plant is how well it tricks animals into think it is a Blue Crystal. In all other aspects, this plant is rather dull. Fairly tasteless and lacking in nutrition, but looks nice as decoration." - Doctor Malcom

Pink Flower Lilypad - 10 Essence (Common flower?)

"A common lilypad, often found in lakes but occasional in rivers too. Very young or small animals sometimes use dried ones as rafts." - Doctor Malcom
Rare Flowers
Tiny Bud - 10 Essence Points
White Star Flowers - 10 Essence Points

"This lovely flower is a rarer one, for I have traveled far and wide across the land and have only seen it a few times. Its lovely white flowers make sweet snacks, while the pink one at the very top is the most prized in terms of taste." - Doctor Malcom
Purple Hooked Flower - 10 Essence Points

"This strange plant has two 'hook' like flowers, made out of very tiny blossoms. They are not for eating, but make nice decorations. Children like to braid them together." - Doctor Malcom
Propeller Flower - 10 Essence Points

"So named because children love to pick this flower, roll its stem rapidly between their paws, and then let go to watch it glide away on the wind."
- Doctor Malcom
Yellow Trumpet Flower - 10 Essence Points

"Found by one of my assistants. He said this flower has a remarkable buttery taste, and a very smooth texture." - Doctor Malcom
Dual Purple Bulb Flower - 10 Essence Points

"This flower has some very strange flowers...they are similar to tulips in how the petals grow overlapping each other until they seal at the top, and within they contain a sweet nectar, protected by the shell of bitter petals." - Doctor Malcom
Five Hanging Flowers - 10 Essence Points

"A hummingbird's favorite plant, many plant these near their homes so they can watch the small birds. They aren't too bad of a snack to other animals either, with a taste similar to that of a grape" - Doctor Malcom
Gold Rose - 10 Essence Pionts

"With its golden petals and strong, aromatic scent, this flower is one of the more sought after gifts for a loved one." - Doctor Malcom
Many Purple Flowers - 10 Essence Points

"This plant has the bad habit of attracting flies to pollinate it, but some deal with the nuisance in order to decorate their homes with the purple flowers, while others might just eat some petals on the go and leave the plant itself behind, with its flies." - Doctor Malcom
Sunflower - 10 Essence Points

"The seeds of this flower are sought after by snacking animals, however its petals aren't so bad either. This flower is often given between friends, or as a welcome to new animals." - Doctor Malcom
White Horned Flower - 10 Essence Points

"Care must be taken to pick this flower, as its horn like thorns are very sharp and can prick a unwary gatherer." - Doctor Malcom
Three Purple Flowers - 10 Essence Points

"The three flowers of this plant grow in three different directions. Some think it might be so it catches sunlight no matter where the sun is located, though other plants grow just fine so I myself don't believe that. In regards to flavor, they are bitter and somewhat sticky." - Doctor Malcom
Blue Flower Lilypad - 25 Essence Points

"Not as common as the pink variety, this lilypad has three 'leaves' instead of just one circular one. Its blue flower is often valued as home decoration due to its very sweet fragrance." - Doctor Malcom
Fabled Flowers
Twisting Horn - 50 Essence Points

"Twin horn shaped branches that sprout many white flowers from the top, it seems to have a greatly positive effect on your health, energizing the body and mind. (Note: Send Bamboo outside for a run or something, she's driving me nuts with her running around after trying it!)" - Doctor Malcom
Multicolored Flower - 50 Essence Points

"This is perhaps one of the most beautiful flower I've come across...eating it makes one a bit giggly and dizzy, but the effects are short lived thankfully. Many animals tend to serve it at parties for the humor factor." - Doctor Malcom
Trumpet Skirt Flower - 50 Essence Points

"A very elegant flower, and a very hard one to find. When I heard rumors of it I scoured the land to try and find it. Finally, I succeeded! It has a very pleasing smell, though its petals are bitter. A very sticky sap within seems to close any cuts made to the stem." - Doctor Malcom
Blue Man-Flower - 50 Essence Points

"This seems to be the rarest of the rare flowers...I have seen this one only a few times, while I see the others fairly often. It resembles a human, in a very vague way, and for this reason many animals fear it and say it is bad for you ." - Doctor Malcom
Branching Bud Flower - 50 Essence Points

"A uncommon flower but a delightful one. Each bud tastes differently based on color. Children delight in finding their favorite flavor on the twisting branches." - Doctor Malcom
Many White Flowers - 60 Points

"Ah, one of hte most elengantof flowers....handle with care, for its snow white petals look lovely, but its stem is prickly for defense. Still highly sought after, for its beauty and scent are worth a few thorn jabs." - Doctor Malcom
Gold Flower Lilypad - 75 Essence Points

"This very rare lilypad is highly desired for its beautiful blossom, which can be carefully preserved and gifted to loved ones on special occasions." - Doctor Malcom

This makes me want to be able to pick the flowers up and bring them to my den, but I can't. ;-;

Also, this makes for a good roleplay idea!

This is awesome. Could you do one about mushrooms? Or have you already? :)

This is well done, but there is a couple of spelling errors on the 'many white flowers'.

I have actually tried that, the problem is that a lot of them are so small or blurry it is hard to make out. But I do have a picture of my den (with full collectibles collected) in my beginners guide under ‘switching animals’ section. I am on my phone but I tried to copy the link to the image

Also, I realized that any mushroom or flower you find are added to your den, actually. If the places are the same for everyone, maybe we should take a screenshot of someone's den with full collection, name all the flowers and mushrooms, so people can compare it to theirs to find what they are missing.

I found multicolored flower twice right after I wrote that post, it wasn't that too, beautiful flower though. So it was down to many white flowers. God knows, I hate that flower. I spent hours, for 2 days, trying to find it. All the mountain tops, all the caves.. I live above those 6 waterfalls that hide the entrance to spiral cavern caves. So when I finally lost all hope, I returned home, just to find one sitting at the rocks where waterfalls begin. I was convinced it was impossible to be honest.

Ouch I do know how that feels. I was like that with the uncommon flowers

I can't find my last fabled flower to complete every collection in the game, because I don't know what it is. I'm pretty sure I've seen and collected all the fabled flowers shown here. As a last hope I thought it could be blue-man flower, thinking i probably mistook another blue flower as that, but i just found one and still missing a piece. My next theory is either i didn't find many white flower and found white hornet instead or i didn't find multicolored flower and found three purple flowers instead.
