Is touching the stick supposed to cancel fast-fall?
I keep fast-falling for a split second and then stopping if I'm holding the stick when I hit RT or A, or stopping the moment I touch the stick, so I have the choice between fast-fall OR positioning... Am I supposed to have the stick neutral, or is this a bug? If it's not, fast-fall should take priority, and it should be explicitly stated; it's easier to tap-and-release for fine adjustments with a button or trigger than a stick.

Also, when the heck am I supposed to use the board, in the air or on the ground? It comes out for a second at most and that doesn't feel right. Is it also getting cancelled?

Would like to know the same. I came here looking for answers as to why fast fall works half the time but reading your post made me realize it's the repositioning. Touching your stick makes the character just do a flip instead of fast falling.

Also can confirm that using the joystick also cancels the board. I was having the exact same issue as you, too. Just tested it.

It makes the game feel incredibly awkward.

DizzyChimera, what controller are you using?

I just tested it with the Steam Deck, keyboard, my wife's controller and my controller. I'm only having this issue with my own controller. It's a Machenike G5 Pro. If you have the same controller, then we know that's the issue for some reason.

Has there been any update on this by chance with the release of the full game? I was having the same thing happen in the demo.
This has been so frustrating to nail down what's happening that I haven't even finished the tutorial. Seems like I would love this game, but the A button barely works half the time.
Ah, it's because I enabled Steam Input. Problem disappeared when I disabled it. Well... I only did that because the game doesn't seem to have the basic setting for inverting your camera. FFS.
