Hey everyone, We’re back with a fresh update focused on vehicle functionality, immersive interactions, and a batch of quality-of-life enhancements and bug fixes. Here’s what’s new:

🛠️ Black Screen on Startup — Fixed Resolved an issue causing a black screen when launching the game. You should now get straight to the action.

🪑 Adjustable Car Seats And Steering You can now move your car seat and steering forward or backward using the mouse wheel — and yes, it saves between sessions!
🚗 Rear Bench Seat Mounting
It's now possible to attach seats to vehicles with rear benches — more options for customizing your ride.
Window Controls You can open and close your car windows manually. Stay cool… or roll ‘em up during a shootout.
🚙 UAZ Ladder InteractionLadders are now usable on UAZ vehicles — climb in and out with style.
🏔️ General Ladder Use Enabled
All usable ladders now function properly and can be interacted with.
Exploding Mines (RPG/AK-Triggered) Mines now detonate when shot with an AK or RPG — plan your ambushes accordingly!
🎖️ Achievement: Exploded MinesA new achievement has been added for creative bomb use. Go loud, go proud.
🧽 Increased Tool Durability
Brushes and sponges now last longer — spend more time cleaning
🍺 Slot Beer Buff Fix
Fixed Bug: Beers stored in slots got a permanent effect !
🔧 Mirror Fix: Musgoat
Rearview mirror attachment for the Musgoat has been corrected.
💨 Exhaust Pack
Four new exhausts added — customize your car with some flair.
🗺️ Usable POI Ladders Points of Interest now include ladders that are fully functional.

Patch Notes – Vehicle Features, FOV Update & Visual Fixes

Hey everyone,

We've rolled out a new patch focusing on vehicle interaction, camera improvements, and bug fixes across the board.

🏨 New Point of Interest: The California Motel
A brand-new location has been added to the map — explore the eerie California Motel and search for valuable loot.
🛠️ Fixed steering wheel sync issue
The steering wheel now correctly turns for other players in multiplayer.
🎮 Dedicated Field of View setting for vehicles
You can now set a unique FOV when driving for better control and immersion.
🚚 Truck bed can now be opened
Interacting with the truck’s cargo area is now possible—load it up!
🔍 TPS zoom functionality added
You can now zoom in and out while in third-person view for improved visibility.
🚪 Door movement script reworked
Doors now open and close more reliably, especially when vehicles are moving.
🎨 Paintable lasers with spray cans
You can now use spray paint cans to change the color of lasers—customize to your style!
🎞️ Post-process effect refinement
Visual quality when the effect is enabled has been improved for smoother gameplay.
📊 UI slider for screen percentage added
You can now adjust screen percentage with a new slider in the settings.
❗️ UAZ tire wear fixed
Tires on the UAZ no longer appear worn just from sitting on the vehicle.
🛋️ New decorative item: Standing Lamp
A stylish living room lamp is now available as a placeable item to furnish your interiors.

🛠️ Patch Notes – Multiplayer Stability & Gameplay Fixes

Hey everyone,

We’ve just pushed a new patch focused on improving multiplayer stability, fixing item spawns, and polishing overall gameplay.

🎒 Pickable items now reactivate properly
Items that sometimes became unpickupable for clients now behave correctly without needing manual intervention.
⚙️ Original part counter updated
The counter now count the full number of parts when restoring vehicles. It was modified depending on if wheel were intalled or nor for example.
🛠️ Infinite food exploit removed
You can no longer eat endlessly by putting an empty food can back into your inventory.
🚗 Ejection visual bug corrected
Passengers ejected from vehicles in third-person view no longer incorrectly see their head in first-person.
🎮 FOV limits properly applied
Field of view values are now clamped to avoid extreme and unrealistic settings.
🚙 IFA dashboard mountable
The IFA vehicle dashboard can now be properly installed.
🛠️ Part spawn randomness improved
Certain parts no longer spawn five times in a row.
🚀 Teleport bug after inspecting ragdolled players resolved
Inspecting a player who was ragdolled no longer sends you flying across the map.
🖥️ Crash on startup resolved for affected users
A crash that prevented some players from launching the game has been fixed.
🛞 Prevented "M" flying glitch
Rapidly pressing "M" after leaving a car no longer causes your character to fly away.
🌍 Level spawning corrected for clients
Level now properly spawn on the client side.
🛣️ Road artifact bug fixed in multiplayer
Roads no longer produce visual artifacts on the server side during multiplayer sessions.

🛠️ Hotfix – Save, Vehicle, and UI Improvements

Hey everyone,

We’ve just rolled out a small patch to address a few save system, UI, and vehicle-related issues:

✅ Fixed: Car doors now save properly
The doors on your vehicles will now be correctly saved and restored between sessions.
✅ Fixed: High-speed saving spawn position
When saving at high speed, you will now respawn properly next to your vehicle, instead of far away.
✅ New: Anti-ghosting setting now configurable
The new anti-ghosting effect could be heavy on performance for lower-end systems — it’s now optional and can be toggled in the settings.
✅ Fixed: Engine UI fuel information
The engine information display now correctly shows the required fuel type again.
✅ Fixed: Default parameters not applying correctly
Default gameplay settings are now correctly applied when starting a new game.
✅ Fixed: C18 restoration requirement
The C18 no longer needs the Dada's fuel tank cap to be considered fully restorable.
✅ Fixed: Fuel tank display synchronization
The server and client now correctly see the same amount of fuel in a tank — no more desync between players.

🔧 Hotfix – Multiplayer and Infinite Settings Fixes

Hey everyone,

We’ve just rolled out a new hotfix to address a few important issues and improve gameplay consistency:

✅ Vehicle weight now properly synced in multiplayer
Clients can now drive trucks and heavy vehicles correctly without desync issues.
✅ “No Rust & Always Polished” setting fixed
This option now correctly keeps vehicles looking pristine when set to Infinite.
✅ “Wheels Never Wear Out” setting fixed
Wheels now maintain their condition properly when set to Infinite.
✅ “Disable Zombie Spawns” option fixed
This setting now reliably prevents zombies from spawning as intended.
✅ Difficulty preset now correctly updates sliders
When switching difficulty presets, the corresponding sliders now update properly.

🚘 Patch Notes – Vehicle Handling, UI Feedback & New Features

Hey everyone,

Here’s a fresh update focused on making vehicles feel more stable, improving UI feedback, and adding some fun and polish along the way!

🖼️ TAA Ghosting improvement (experimental)
We’ve begun improving anti-aliasing ghosting based on feedback from the community (shoutout to Dr Rockso!). This is an early pass — more tweaks to come.
🎮 New: Adjustable FOV up to 120°
You can now change your field of view in the gameplay options — up to 120° for those who love the wide-angle feel.
🖥️ New: V-Sync option added
You can now enable or disable vertical sync in the graphics settings — helpful for screen tearing.
🛞 Handling Update: Wheel grip stabilization
We’ve reworked vehicle wheel behavior — the grip no longer changes unpredictably after extended use, resulting in more consistent driving.
🚙 Musgoat now spawns with a handbrake
No more struggling to stop on a slope — the Musgoat now comes equipped with a handbrake by default.
📦 Original parts visual feedback
When restoring a car, you’ll now see:

Total original parts installed

Green preview boxes = correct part

Yellow = compatible but not the original part
🚪 Door compatibility improvement
Doors from different vehicles now align better — pivot points have been corrected so they attach properly.
📶 Radio tower improvements
We’ve improved the performance and save reliability of radio towers in the world.
🌡️ Engine overheating feedback
Engines now display a warning when they’re too hot — and they’ll cool down even when sitting on the ground.
🔊 Car Restoration Sound
A unique sound now plays when you complete a full car restoration — satisfying and clear!
🔉 Audio balancing – Car attenuation pass
Wwise settings have been tweaked to better balance car-related sounds, especially wide attenuation.
🪩 New Item: Disco Ball
Because every good road trip needs a little party flair. 🕺
⚖️ Fixed: Weight capacity replication bug
A bug caused vehicle weight limits to desync in multiplayer, making some cars undriveable for clients — now fixed.
🎒 Fixed: Backpack interaction in multiplayer
Clients can once again use their backpacks reliably in multiplayer sessions.

🚀 Patch Notes – Optimization Pass, Save Fixes & New Features

Hey everyone,

We’ve just released a new update with a strong focus on optimization, along with many bug fixes, quality-of-life changes, and new features based on your feedback.

🚀 Major Optimization: Zombie unloading & performance spikes
We’ve fixed a critical issue where zombies were never unloaded from memory, causing major performance drops as you explored.
We’ve also reduced some lag spikes — they’re not gone yet, but much better.
🧠 Next step: VRAM optimization to fix blurry visuals on long sessions and reduce micro-freezes even further.
💾 Fixed: Missing saves due to special characters
If your Steam name contains special characters like _, the game couldn’t read your save.
From now on, save names default to the seed only.
To recover old saves, go to:
AppData/Local/DriveBeyondHorizons/Saved/SaveGames/
Find the file with your name + seed, remove the special character from the filename, and it should appear again.

🛢️ New: Universal siphoning + direction control
You can now siphon fuel with any container, and reverse flow direction using the mouse wheel.
🎲 Temporary fix: Item spawn now always random (no seed)
Until we rework the seed system, items now spawn with full randomness to prevent missing spawns tied to specific seeds.
📦 Optimization: Loot meshes (LODs & collision)
Improved performance by adding proper LODs and simplified collision to lootable objects.

🚙 Towing: Better detachment logic
Vehicles now automatically detach from tows if angular velocity becomes excessive, preventing buggy explosions.

Updated materials and textures for a fresh new look.
📝 Added: Save name validation
We now check for invalid characters when creating a save to prevent future issues.
🎮 Improved: Return-to-menu positioning
When backing out of certain menus, you’ll now return to the correct in-game location.
⛽ Fixed: Fuel interaction text translations
Fuel-related messages now localize properly.
💥 Fixed: Mine explosion sounds not replicating in multiplayer
Explosions now correctly play sound effects for all players.
🔊 Audio fixes
Large audio attenuations have been fixed, and certain sounds that previously lacked spatialization now have proper spatial effects.
🔧 Fixed: Car parts snapping issues
Certain car parts that didn’t attach properly to others now connect correctly.
Note: This fix doesn’t cover all snapping issues yet — we’re still actively investigating the remaining cases to improve attachment reliability across the board.

🔧 Hotfix – Achievements Fix

Hey everyone,

We’ve just pushed a small but important hotfix!

We discovered that all achievements were affected by a localization issue — they would only trigger if the game was set to English.
This explains why some of you couldn’t unlock them despite meeting the conditions.

✅ Achievements will now trigger correctly regardless of the selected language.

🛠️ Patch Notes – New POi, QoL, Attachables & Interaction Fixes

Hey everyone,

We’ve added one brand-new POI to the world of Drive Beyond Horizons! You can see a preview of it just below.

We've just pushed a new update addressing several bugs, visual improvements, and systems polish based on your reports:

🚗 New: Unlock starting car selection via Restorer achievement
If you've completed the corresponding Restorer achievement, you can now choose that car as your starting vehicle in new games.
🔧 Fixed: Attachables not syncing properly for clients
Attachable items were incorrectly snapping to the green preview boxes due to collision issues. This has now been resolved.
🌙 Improved: Nighttime visibility
We’ve brightened the night slightly to help you see more clearly while exploring or driving.
🛞 New: Steering assist setting
Added a gameplay setting that allows players to adjust the steering responsiveness of all steering wheels to their preference.
🧭 Fixed: Roads not spawning due to player distance
A system now verifies player distance to ensure roads spawn correctly even in large worlds.
💿 Fixed: DVD drive collisions
The CD/DVD player could launch itself when inserting a disc — we’ve removed its physics collisions.
📦 Improved: Looters item variety
Some looter seeds were the same and caused multiple spawns of the same item — this has been addressed to improve variety.
🚙 Fixed: Towing duplication bug
Towing a vehicle that was already towing another could cause duplication after loading a save — this is now fixed.
🔫 Fixed: AK pickup removes punch mode
In punch mode, picking up an AK would remove the ability to punch — this has been corrected.
🧹 Fixed: Brush not saving properly
Brush bristles would reappear even when empty — the state now saves correctly.
💧 Fixed: Pee not possible when thirst is disabled
You can now relieve yourself even if the thirst system is turned off.
🔄 Fixed: UI element reappearing after exiting car
Rotating UI with the mouse wheel could come back after exiting a vehicle — this no longer happens.
🏆 Fixed: Achievements not triggering for some users
Achievement tracking should now function correctly for all players.
💥 Tweaked: Fewer car parts fall off during crashes
We've reduced how many vehicle parts detach during accidents — components like pedals are now much more likely to stay in place.
🛠️ Fixed: Difficulty sliders not applying at minimum values
Sliders could fail to update correctly in some cases when set to their lowest setting — this has been fixed.
📏 Improved: Difficulty slider clarity
Added clearer feedback to show the requirement for customizing difficulty is met.
⚙️ Fixed: “100km” tire mode wear bug
Tires in 100km mode were wearing down unexpectedly — this is now fixed.
🧱 Fixed: Pedals not affected by explosions
Pedals now properly respond to explosions like other attachables.
📊 UI: Added gamma slider in settings
You can now adjust gamma in the graphics options for better brightness control.
📊 UI: Improved option unlock clarity at 20km
Made it more obvious when new gameplay settings unlock after driving 20 km.
🔐 Added: Join with password support
Players can now join games using a password-protected session.
🚗 Fixed: Car spawn blocking issue
Cars spawning in tight areas could trap players inside — spawn logic has been updated to avoid this.
🔧 Improved: Param editing range
You can now adjust certain gameplay parameters starting from 20 km instead of higher distances.

🛠️ Patch Notes – Hotfix & Quality Update

Hey everyone,

We’ve just released another patch focused on gameplay polish, bug fixes, and quality-of-life improvements:

🖱️ Fixed: NVG spam activation glitch
Spamming right-click no longer keeps the JVN system active indefinitely.
🌱 Fixed: Save seed now handled correctly
The world seed is now forced directly from the save file data, not from metadata — preventing unwanted resets.
🚪 Fixed: Door closing interaction issue
Car doors now close correctly — you no longer need to aim perfectly at the handle to interact with them.
💧 Improved: Faster fluid refilling
Refueling and fluid refills now complete faster for a smoother gameplay loop.
🌍 Improved: Terrain generation near POIs
Fixed terrain holes that often formed near POIs, which could trap vehicles or players. These areas are now filled properly.
💥 Fixed: Stuck between death and revival after explosion
Players who died from an explosion would sometimes be stuck in a limbo state — this is now resolved. You’ll now correctly wait for revival or respawn.
📣 Fixed: Megaphone audio feedback loop
Using the megaphone no longer causes your voice to echo endlessly in your own output. The loop has been silenced.
💾 Fixed: Autosave not triggering over time
Autosaves were no longer occurring after extended play sessions — they now work reliably again.
🚗 Fixed: Vehicle spawn stability
Vehicles now have their position forcibly stabilized 5 seconds after spawning to avoid erratic behavior.
🛞 Fixed: Tire blowout at ~50km regardless of settings
A bug caused tires to burst around 50 km even if durability parameters were modified — this has been fixed.
🔧 Fix & Note: Attachable activable items not working after save reload
Attachables (like police light, laser, etc.) may stop working after reloading a save due to bad legacy data.
To fix this, you'll need to remove and reattach them once in your existing save — they’ll work properly afterward even after saving.
