Death of the Outsider is one of those DLC's that became its own game but still feels like a DLC, and sadly it's not even a particularly good one at that. Narratively it's pretty typical for the Dishonored series, which is to say it's got a lot of very creative and cool ideas delivered to you through ham-fisted writing and shallow characters.

This wasn't an issue in the first two games because they usually moved so quickly that all the weaker bits skated by unnoticed, and because you as the player had so much control over the narrative that it didn't really feel like the game's 'fault' when things were one-dimensional because *you* could have always made a different choice.

Death of the Outsider is not like this. It is *slow* compared to its predecessors; slower abilities (it's pretty telling that the reward you get for beating the game is the chance to play through it with the Dishonored 2 moveset), slower levels (honestly the first 4/5 of the game kind of feels like it's one long, segmented level), less variety, overall just less of the showy flashiness that makes Dishonored so fun.

A truly tedious amount of the story is told through Billie monologueing over still images in loading screens — because again, this is a DLC — and somehow even while cutting those animation corners they managed to make a game that's about half as long as Dishonored 2.

If Death of the Outsider were its own thing I'd probably have a lot more grace for it, say something like how the Dishonored-esque gameplay, though dumbed down and slowed, is still not half bad, and the dense Dishonored-esque level design still gives you a lot of options for how to go about things (albeit less than you had in previous entries). As a Dishonored game though, Death of the Outsider is a step down in every way, and as a fan of the previous games, it's a crying shame that this undercooked letdown is probably going to stay the series' finale.

Что касаемо игрового процесса, то игра предлагает отличную систему прокачки и новые способности, которые открывают еще больше возможностей для креативного подхода к прохождению.
