I see no harm in using crypto tho, imagine paying a game in bitcoins.

You don't, but you haven't seen very much. Valve has way more experience with crypto than you ever will.
If it's such a great idea, you do it. Let us know when you get to the " Ooooohhhh..." stage when you understand why lots of places won't touch it.
Besides what's stopping you from selling your crypto for money that's already accepted everywhere? Is it too much hassle or something? Wouldn't it be nice if Valve bore that burden? Is that the logic?
