I wish I had a better answer, but figured a quick truth was best.
PS, Don't Starve took me awhile to vibe with, but it's a pretty great game.
well ı have dont starve together but ı also bought one extra for gıft yk ı was goıng to send to my frıend but he also had that game so ıts ın my ınventory just waıtıng lol
May I Buy or Sell my extra copies?
No. This violates the Steam Subscriber Agreement and may result in all involved Steam accounts becoming permanently disabled.
This is incorrect.
Purchasing Don't Starve Together gives you a copy and another copy as an inventory game gift.
Point taken. I had confused Don't Starve with Don't Starve Together. Co-op games obviously have different rules.
This has NOTHING to do with coop or not, and they don't have special rules either.
Most coop games do NOT give you an additional copy; it's just that THIS games does -- you buy the game, you get another copy (back in the old days this was known as a 2-pack, but I think Steam removed those n-packs as a general thing).
Whether or not this helps sales compared to just selling single copies at half the price, I have no idea.
Actually, no. Many-co-op games come bundled w/ a 2nd copy, and any game allows you to buy a game as a gift for someone. And co-op games do have different rules. You've been around long enough to know that.
See, I don't care about coop-only games, so I don't have ANY. Which, in turn, means, I didn't know they tend to come with a gift copy already included.
Again, I don't care about coop-only games, and I certainly don't read rulebooks.
I'm not even sure what kind of different rules you are referring to. The non-coop gifts that I have can all be traded; that's what the inventory-gifts were designed for before Steam mostly moved to the new gifting system. I wouldn't expect gifts from coop-games to be any different -- you have to have a way to actually get them to other people.
I also see no reason to assume that coop-gifts can be sold. Again, the non-coop gifts that I have are non-marketable, and you're on your own anyway when you go outside of Steam.
Valve only stopped allowing the n-packs to be made. The old legacy packs are still available if the dev/pubs didn't remove them.
Here's the lists for the old packs...
2 pack... https://steamdb.info/search/?a=sub&q=2-pack
3 packs... https://steamdb.info/search/?a=sub&q=3-pack
4 packs... https://steamdb.info/search/?a=sub&q=4-pack
5 packs... https://steamdb.info/search/?a=sub&q=5-pack
6 packs... https://steamdb.info/search/?a=sub&q=6-pack
If you have a Steam gift game in your inventory, you can 100% trade it for stuff like trading cards, CS case keys, or whatever else through the trade window. It's an item like any other inventory item.
Trading Steam gifts for external things like cash isn't supported. You probably won't be banned for doing this, but if you get scammed, Valve might refuse to restore your items.
Edit: I am in fact an idiot that didnt read the thread properly, ignore what I said. Sorry about that.
Please read the rest of the thread. Some games still give you an extra copy that goes to your inventory. That CAN be traded for other stuff.
An inventory game gift does not require people to trade accounts.
