Time to upgrade to Wins11?
Been using Wins10 for some years now, noticed Microsoft will will not support Wins10 anymore sometime this year and may have already pass that points. My question is, worth upgrading to Wins11? When i check the updates, etc noticed that my machine doesnt support or wont get the upgrade to Wins11. Not sure why, i built this rig, really good pc here.

Sadly been hearing alot of players are upset that Wins11 doesnt do well on older games. I havent had any issues with Wins10 lately and probably have to buy the while version and clean out my drive and start all over from there. Microsoft still want alot of money for that OS though.

win10 will be safe to use for steam for a few more years...
nah stay on win10, people used windows 7 WAAAAYY past it's support date and it worked fine (for the most part lol)
Should be viable as a OS at least till 2028/2029. Only when Microsoft decide to finally pull the plug (like with Win 7), Valve will do the same.

You should be good for a couple years after Windows 10 loses it's support, longer if your willing to pay for support. I think I would wait until you need another computer, before upgrading, unless you have been upgrading you PC parts in your current rig.
If your current PC does not meet the minimum requirements of W11 then you could not upgrade to it either way with not buying a new one

You always could switch to linux if the need arises.

Yeahh....a lot of cpus which where produced prior 2019 (i think) are not supported as they do not work with TMP 2.0
First, I would check if your mainboard manufacturer offers a BIOS update. In most cases the Windows 11 update does not work because TPM 2 is missing. If you are lucky, the BIOS update also brings TPM 2 to your board. I did this for one of my work team mates with a MSI board (some X570 AM4 model).

I also had a case where one of my friends simply had TPM 2.0 (also called ftpm on AMD boards) turned off, so he just had to turn it on in the BIOS. It was disabled by default. This was the easiest way to pass for Windows 11 :-)

On the other side, if nothing is working, I did some trials using Windows 10 IOT Enterprise LTSC 2021. This version will get updates until 2032.

Its working perfectly for gaming, all my games are running smoothly. I did a in place upgrade from Windows 10 Pro 22H2 (MS says it will not work, but it does, google is your friend, you need to tweak the registry before doing in place) and I could take over all my installed apps/progs. The key for IOT 2021 you can get for about $20 bucks online, the activation worked nicely.

But some new features like Recall, Office 365, Teams, Copilot for example WILL NOT WORK on IOT 2021, i also dont use a MS account. If you plan to use these, you have to go the way for Windows 11. You also want to know that for IOT there are no language packs available (English only).

PS: IOT is running several months on two gamer PCs here now, I will probably stay there, but one never knows. As always do a image backup (Acronis for example) from your OS disk before trying out. I made several images for me, for testing this and so I can go back at any time.

Hope this helps a bit and sorry for my bad language, English is not my primary one.

My favorite has always been win 7 but migrating to 10 was fine and then from there to 11 has been smooth. If you are used to 10 then 11 will work well for you. I do like the new windows snapping compared to 10, does wonders for keeping work organized. Performance-wise I have not had any issues, then again my pc meets the specs which I assume yours will too.

Wont help him if his cpu does not support it, as most motherboards do not have a tmp module (they do have software support for it so that it can be used) as it usually is build into the cpu directly for years.
thank guys for the inputs my system specs...

11thGenIntel i9-11900K (multi cores) 3.5GHz, 32GB, Nvidia RTX 3060ti, Sound Blaster (headphone dail or hub) and SSD, etc.

Ofc the OS is updated latest version as well.

Time to switch to Linux. It’s easy.
Intel 11th Gen is supported by Windows 11. You have to look closer to find out what the problem is.
Your license should carry over when you stick to the same system but you could get a cheap OEM key and get away with it.
I've just recently installed Windows 11 on an old system with an AMD FX processor and it runs fine. But for a main gaming rig i would recommend to stick to the recommendations for software support and security.
Go for it, 8th Gen Intel and above is usually fine and AMD cpus from 3000 series are also good. I have had no issues with games old or new.

Windows 11 is evolving and is going to clone your hard disk data in they cloud server, to check your data.

they probably already do this lmao esp. with ♥♥♥♥ like copilot installing itself automatically on Win 10 machines, had to break my updates settings on the registry tool

You should check BIOS settings for "Secure boot" and "TPM" options. If one of them is turned off update to Win11 won't be available.
