For anyone that has this error in 2023 there is an easy fix. First check the log and see if the last fail before it crashes says something about failing to rename steamcmd.exe to steamcmd.exe.old. If yes, rename steamcmd.exe to literally anything else (.exe) and run it and it will download the DLLs it misses. The root cause is that steamcmd.exe cannot rename itself to apply the update due to how windows proceses work in some cases. I cannot explain the technicality behind it I am afraid.

I have been watching vids on how to start a server and it shows to download steamcmd and I did when I open steamcmd to download files it just shows the percentages loading, which it then says failed to do whatever and reverting and then closes steamcmd. Any ideas?
