Thanks. They really should have this pinned on every message board automatically!

It has been Tuesday at that time since the beginning of Steam over 20 years ago. It should be common enough knowledge to find it with no trouble if unknown.
The thing is, they could do it earlier when warranted but even with a warning people will still freak out because some publisher decided to rely on the Steam's host connections for their always online game (looking at you Activision :cgpout:).

Not everyone knows about this; especially newcomers! And sometimes people forget (like me)!

Yes, but the thing to remember is this - most people don't read.

Go look at the many posts that have occurred for the 14 years I've been here that say something like "help my account's been hacked or stolen".

They still happen every single day. And yet the advice on how to prevent this is EVERYWHERE, not just on Steam.

Only a TINY fraction of users use these forums and even then many of them still don't read even the basic rules.

You still get people post on these forums trying to just post for a badge that hasn't existed for YEARS because they get duff info and word of mouth.

So no, it would likely not serve any purpose, sadly. And should it ever change, god people would be posting and not accpeting the change for years afterwards.

Yeah, a message somewhere wouldn't be bad.

I get it. It's just one of those universal things like knowing when the Sabbath is.

With a userbase of such as Steam's, every timeslot sucks for maintenance somewhere.

Needed a quick reminder, so I had to find this topic again.

Thanks again.
