Games Having Trouble Updating? Bad download source error?
Content_log file doesn't have the usual failed files to seek out and delete in the game folder.

Instead, what I notice is a bunch of these "Marking bad download source cache18-iad1.steamcontent.com, 1 jobs", failed unpacking job, etc. etc.

What does that mean and how do I fix it? I tried switching the download server to another region and I am getting the same error.

Try this

Go to the steam tab on your top left, navigate to the Download tab, look for Clear Download Cache. After that's done, restart steam and see if it fixed the issue

I tried that. It says restart now or restart later. I hit restart now. It doesn't fix it. :steamsad:
I see some stuff with the "Bad download source" thing and my ISP's name too. Is my ISP blocking my Steam downloads for some reason? I am really confused.

Change steam DL zone to see if that server is better for you.

Thats the problem here with you we have no info on what game or what region you are in,

no other person can help you from same region as you have if this is in somecountry with some random ISP, you need other steam user to help you from same region that can dismiss a isp issue.

and yet we are not support here tahts your ISP.

ps.
you do knwo you can wipe atht game folder name to restart DL, ( but that should not fix it if server has bad files " Bad download source error?"

Do not have past windows version, steam only support win10+

Changing download region does not fix it, clearing download cache does not fix it, uninstall and reinstall does not fix it, etc. I am running out of ideas.

Any other time I had an issue downloading/updating games, I checked content_log, found the files that needed to be deleted and redownloaded, and everything worked.

This time is different. This time the weird "Marking bad download source" error seems like it is pointing me to Steam and my ISP. Why would my ISP be a "bad download source?"

Let me guess, the problem started 5 days ago or so?
Same here, games that require VC Redist 2022 just refuse to download. And break my entire library in the process
