everyone is a strong word. I played TF2 awhile ago without problems, but yes - quite many are having issues with HL2.exe related games.

and teutep i did all of that except i dont know how to see if it is blcoked by fiire wall or anti virus

Isn't there a 1800 number you can call for steam? I normally get help with games best when I talk to a person directly. Though I couldn't get anyone on the phone to help me get dino beatdown to work. That game is just broken for some users.

Click the Start Menu open, choose Taskbar, take Firewall, see exceptions and ensure hl2 is there.

Strange there isn't a Recommended section for mac...

If you have all that and it still doesn't work then something is wrong with your comp. I don't know enough about modern Macs (Feel free to ask me anything about the good ol' days of the System7 era).
