Portable AC in front of my PCs exhaust?
Room is hot as ♥♥♥♥, my PC definitely contributes. I have a small portable AC unit that pulls air from the back, and blows cold air through the front.

I was considering putting this right in front of my PCs exhaust (it's like, a grille with 3-4 fans) to hopefully cool the air coming out of it.

Would this be a good idea?

Portable A/Cs tend to be very inefficient, especially the single-hose models which must use air it already cooled to vent heat being produced by the machine itself. If you're not using any hoses at all to vent heat, then the air conditioner vents just as much heat back into the room you're in as it takes out of it. All an A/C does is "move" heat from one location to another. That other space needs to be outside of the room you're taking heat from in order to work.

It's possible he's using a portable evaporative cooler. But those need to be filled with water, and only work in climates where there's less water (humidity) in the air than what the air can carry. They work great in places like West Texas, Arizona, but wouldn't really work at all some place like Florida.

I wouldn't do it. It would risk moisture getting on your components. Best to just condition the room further away
get a window unit. it's what i did.

Mine is a water filled unit, yes. I'm in Ontario, Canada, so it's not very humid here.
The humidity in Ontario is currently 70%

It's still fairly humid. I don't expect you'd get more than a few degrees of cooling. And I would keep moisture far away from electronics.

If it's not pointed at my PC it shouldn't be an issue, right? It'd be sucking air from my PC, and pushing it out in the opposite direction.

Still will throw off the room's humidity. But nothing should condense on you computer while its running. Also copper being electrified prevents it from oxidizing as quickly when in contact with water.

I'm really not worried about humidity, the air coming out of it is rather dry. If not in front of my PC I'll probably have it on a desk above the PC.

Before buying an AC unit, ask yourself if you live in an area with inexpensive electricity.

Running AC for just a few hours a day will increase my electric bill by about $100 here.

Humidity increases when hot air and cold air are close to each other

So putting it close to the computer...again, I would strongly advise against it

I already have the unit, it's necessary. This room turns into a crematorium despite THREE fans.

feels good to have cheap electricity. -w-
my unit runs 24/7 and only increased the bill by $15.
