What do you think they will find?

Mountains of empty pineapple pizza boxes and really stiff socks...
nothing at all.. few compagnies last 100 years.. steam will lilkely not even excist anymore in the year 2100.. and possibly long before that no more..

and for a while people will remember that website they used in living memory.. when that generation dies... it will fade... just one of those early internet history things... from before quantumcomputing and ai...

there will also be no year 10000 long before that christ will have returned and the end of days happend and time history the earth the universe all destroyed.,.. and erased..
the end of time itself.

how many people still know a compagny that made the cannons every warship used... or the lampoil so vital to every persons oillamp... or the bronze once so vital??

like how few remember msn.. like when you last thought of it before I talked of it?.. and if you do.. do your kids or teens that never knew it?

heck I lost my currency the guilder... and those born after it was already gone.. I can show they fysical guilders tell them of them.. but well how interested are they in preserving that knowledge..
and before you say but it will be remembered even if by ever fewer experts.. will it??

steam is not at all as vital as a currency.. and while the last 300 years is more or less well documented.. most of the coins used in the golden centiy aka 1600s let alone before that are a mistery we have a few but far more we have no knowledge off..

you think that in this age of digital information data is more secure.. think again.. the chance your digital photo gets corrupted or wiped is much greater than the chance a fysical photo gets destroyed being recognision.. sure it may have damage, be yellowed.. bleached.. even burn or waterdame or fungus.. but it be a long time before it is fully destroyed..

and while for a while there may be a mentioning of steam past it's excistance on pages like wikipedia and the internet archive.. even those don't have eternal life.. and will end..

and when they do and people will have to deciede whats worth preserving and what can be tossed.. well your great grandchildren who were born 50 years after steam went offfline forgood.. will most likely not deem it important at all..

how much data do we know of even 1 year ago.. how much of 10, or 100.. let alone 1000

10000 years ago... what do we know of that era.. basicly only what we know from ruins we found.. and very little that by miths passed along.. but the vast vast mayority has been lost...

Nothing because all of the data will likely be erased by then. Even indelible books have a tough time surviving since just the 1600s. Digital data can be erased without a trace, and likely will be since its existence is somewhat contingent upon the hosts not purging the data as soon as the hosting fees stop being paid.
The forum posts of the last 2 months steam was still online.

Every other thread is too old and confusing. :steammocking:
