Paying for movie subscriptions and getting ads?!?!!!
Amazon Prime Video will now include advertising in the middle of the movies with your paid subscription, unless you pay an extra $2.99 NZD per month on top of it.

This will start on 29th August 2025 in New Zealand, but in other countries might of already started?

What happen to the Amazon owner, Jeff Bezos? He can afford to spend $1 million dollars in a personal donation to Trump for access to change US Laws/Restrictions... yet oh noes, we need advertising on top of user's subscriptions to be able to afford movie licenses.

On top of that Amazon Prime Video has additional subscriptions and rent or paid to buy for new movies. The release movies given for your paid subscription is barely anything per month at all!

Greedy billionaires...

Why would anyone pay for ads on top of a paid subscription?

Why would anyone pay for a subscription within side another subscription?

Why do you have to pay an additional $19 to $40 NZD per movie to rent or buy a new movie, within a paid subscription and then have it stuck under that subscription?

Short answer to get more money and add a few poor quality self made movies or sports. Been doing it in the states for several months, it is just a matter of time before all regions will have adds. I think Netflix started the trend, and it is easy money for a mega corporation.

Please don't discuss piracy on this topic. It's against ethical and moral values, plus the Steam rules.
Its a win win.

I get to keep my money, they get to drown in ads.
Paying for anything but physical media at all is bonkers.

Funny how people complain and still throw money at the company they hate.

It's like a dog chasing his own tail and collapsing from dizziness, only to get up and do it again.

I've cancelled my subscription so it will end before it happens.

I also don't support the Trumpism billionaire oligarchs, because that's a bunch of sellout corruption. Trump uses them and still screws them over anyways, just like Elon Musk. Short lived for his $378 million dollar investment in rigging the election and becoming a temporary US Shadow President with full control of DOGE, while pretending not to be leading it at the same time.

However, I understand it's already happened way early in some other countries... since 2024? I was curious about others views on it.

Thank you for reminding me to cancel the Prime trial period the shysters kept nagging me over.

I haven't seen any ads with Netflix yet, but it does seem like a trend going on between them all.
I've been considering canceling mine, I should. I rarely buy anything off of Amazon now since Walmart adjust to be as competitive, even offer a better price than Amazon. I mean buying stuff in general, not the movies.

Jeff Bezos (owner of Amazon) just had a $50 million dollar wedding and $1 million dollars to Trump for US tax cuts and benefits... yet still screws over the customers. He was giving away $5 million in random gifts to his billionaire friends at the wedding, all coming in millions of dollars worth of super yachts, to rent out Venice, Italy. His own super yacht is worth $500 million.

funny that if i would try to share a link from a free movies site steam will mark it WITH A BIG RED WARNING saying danger danger!

And yet when someone adds me just to send me a link to a ''playtest'' that doesnt exist, now that link, it shows as any normal other link would heh

Yeah, because phishing website tend to be short lived new domains/hosting, it's unknown till marked malicious. Really they should detect the domain age and warn if it's less than a month old?

I hate ads openly and without regret.

For Amazon Prime, I heard that if you are on mobile, you can then just download an episode or movie you want to watch, turn off WiFi and cellular and then you get an ad free experience.

However, who wants to watch in via mobile?

I guess you can stream it to a TV from there, but quite a few extra steps.
