Thank goodness you're here! I need someone to tell about the game!

There's no gameplay, the music is lazy, and you only have one thing you can do that doesn't include movement - slap. These aren't insults - they're words from game's own lead developers in a short behind the scenes video on publisher Panic's YouTube channel and I don't disagree with them. Is that a bad thing, though?

Personally, my only potential complaint is the price - at least when compared to other games offering similar amounts of time to play. The game can be beaten in a couple hours. As of this review, it's $20 (USD). At the same time, though, I don't regret spending the money one bit the game took 4 years to make, and besides - is it worth it?

Let's talk about the game first: the objective of the game is largely to wander around aiding your fellow Brits and largely enjoying the adventure. The devs call this a "slapformer" but it's important to know that it's really just a play on words, not a combination of genres, The platforming you might be familiar with isn't in the game and the devs similarly mention it themselves in the same video I referenced above. The best way I can think of to describe it is as if you had a cartoon where the main character was a bit of a goofball that solved problems in the most absurd, subversive ways. If you think you know what's going to happen, there's a good chance you're going to be wrong and it'll instead be way sillier. Unlike a traditional cartoon though, it has some interactivity to it - and, you're the main character. Even if you have a pseudo-linear goal you need to complete, you're able to walk around and briefly explore things, goofing around and slapping everything and everybody.

If you're looking for a regular game with the usual genres like FPS, RPG, etc., this may not be the one for you. However, this feels a bit more like if classic cartoon / flash games were turned into a "real" game like Henry Stickmin was (though the games are very different. This is really only a good game if you don't mind immersing yourself in a cartoon world where you end up involved in everybody's affairs, and with minimal gameplay.

This isn't much of a game, but it sure is one hell of an interesting experience.

NOTE: Best played with a controller! Though not mandatory it's highly recommended.
