I love Supreme Commander, Forged Alliance. (Supcom 2 sucks)
For that reason, comparing this game to FA is obvious, and is something everyone that has ever played FA will do.

Pros:
+ Runs better than FA. But so does nearly every game due to the fact that FA only uses one core. I've noticed other people mentioning that it's strange that you need the latest high-end graphics card to be able to play this. Since I have one of those, I can't really say what would happen if you don't.

+ Uses the same economy system as FA (rather than supcom 2's method)

+ Has global unit upgrades. FA didn't have these, and you could say that it doesn't need it, but it's a nice feature. Supcom 2 just did it wrong, in the sense that they had only a few unit types and then expected you to solely rely on upgrades. Ashes at least has about 8 different land units, 3 different Dreadnaughts ("experimentals", sort of), 3 different air units, and then some misc others. You do get some units to choose from, although it's nowhere near the amount found in FA.

Cons:
- Uses slow unit movement speed instead of making maps actually large. The end result might be the same, but it doesn't feel right to me.

- Sound effects are TERRIBLE. Music is worse. I've turned the sound off in the game and I'll probably be using spotify or something next time I play. This is actually the first time I've played a game where I can't stand the sound.

- (TLDR: Turtling is literally impossible.) Only way to gain income is to capture metal points across the map. There is no way to generate income in your base, so turtling is not even a possibility. In FA, normally you'd not really want to turtle if you're playing a normal game, but since I enjoy that playstyle, I'd do it in custom games or games against AIs and such. Here, turtling impossible. Also, I find there's not even any point to building turrets. Better to build an army of bombers to quickly respond to the enemy's attacks where your main army isn't at. Plus, bombers are much more versatile since they can also help your ground army. There are also no bubble shields. Who doesn't love shields?

- (TLDR: Good graphics, terrible models) While good graphics don't make a game good, it does have an effect on the game. This game is weird. The game itself has good graphics, and it does use DX12 which probably helps. However, the models have no animations, and very little particle effects. They all rotate their entire body to face the enemy. Also, every single one of them hovers. I assume this was done to allow more units to be on the screen at one time, but it kills immersiveness. It feels like I'm commanding an army of cheap plastic toys rather than the massive war machines of death that FA has. In addition, some models are straight up bad.

Conclusion:
This game doesn't stand a chance against Forged Alliance. The sounds are terrible, and the models make you feel like you're playing toy story, and not the next generation of large scale RTS.
If you're thinking of buying it because you want a game similar to FA, you'll most likely be disappointed.

(I may update this review as I play the game more.)
