In my hyperfixated state on this game, and having achieved every achievement basically as fast as possible without speedrunning, I have enjoyed almost every single second of it. the fear it brings, the tale it weaves, the horrors... ugh, just SO peak. absolutely bone chillingly horrific, what with the implicaations regarding the storyline overall, and every monstrosity in the night, every horrific mutation, every aspect culminates into a perfect horror game. I have Thalassophobia, so this shook me to my core, but I have enjoyed it all, despite the anxiety it brought. completing this game was fulfilling. the endings of which I wont spoil had you losing the game no matter what you did, but left you with a deep sense of understanding. the fishing aspect is very fun, the mechanics are solid, the characters are pretty memorable, despite not having names, just titles, and it just all wraps together in such a way that makes an experience like this worth trying. I genuinely recommend this game to any and all horror enjoyers. because despite it not being for everyone, it invokes ACTUAL horror, and not just jumpscare you. it fills you with a gnawing dread, a worry so visceral and ancient that you rarely, if ever, stay out at night. it brings out a true unbridled fear, but it is in the end all worth it. please, if you can, buy this game. I swear, you won't be disappointed... so long as you enjoy this kinda thing.

Well, I wouldn't say this game is necessarily a horror game, like some people say. Sure, you can experience some spooking moments, but overall, it's not horrifying, unless you count the existentialism of it all. It's more survival. Driving, trying to survive the craziness of the world you find yourself in, and as such, the extremity of it all can be scary, but not... Horrifying. It doesn't really scratch at any real fears, other than that of death, it's mostly story driven, with essentially no side quests or anything, it's set around exploring these mutated lands. But it's not horrifying. It's not horror. It's Pacific Drive. And Pacific Drive is a great game. The mechanics are solid, in that your survival mostly relies on your car and your wits. The way everything weaves together is nice. Needing to go into the Zone to get upgrades to go into the zone more, using an old auto shop to your advantage, figuring out what the world is like on the Olympic Peninsula, it's a great experience I suggest for anyone and everyone.

It's a lot like the game Dome Keeper, but vertical, and a bit less clunky. It's fun, Incentivises you to upgrade or die, and all that good shazazzle.

a super cute and fun colony sim, but alas, i'm experiencing grave issues with saving that make it impossible to get past a certain cycle and stay past it, even after explicit, liberal saving on my part. so that makes it a bit tougher to play for long periods, when you get 2x as far as when you started, only to be brought back to exactly where you started.

perfects the formula of the rogue-like. good movement, good items, challenging but not truly impossible, has tweaks to the game through unlockables, lots of lore, characters that feel great to play, and natural to use, and bosses, lots of bosses, and REALLY, REALLY GOOD MUSIC. annd even rng doesnt have to be a problem when it comes to the "artifacts," specifically the Artifact of Command, which makes it so the only rng is the quality of an item. truly a wondrous experience

it's a great game! the one thing i hate about most space games is that there's human's being stupid and greedy and awful, and the one thing this game doesn't have, is humans! i mean technically it does, what with the anomalies having a concealed face and whatnot, but that doesn't count because I also like faceless individuals who I can project myself onto, DUE to being faceless! it's refreshing to see, and the fact it's emptier than most space games is pleasant, because the worlds aren't actively good for making a life on. it's a really nice thing to see in my opinion, and the species that exist in the game are so nice to see as well. the lore is good, the game loop is... fine, though. it's alright, not great not horrible. I like it personally, but might not be for other people. the Emptiness of the worlds is also another thing people might not like, which is understandable, but if you play the game, you get more info on why the worlds are oft more desolate. why there are minimal societies. I think its refreshing to see a planet that isn't entirely completely colonized to the point it looks like Steven Universe Homeworld. to see a planet so full of life, so jubilant, but so deadly and dangerous. and this isn't just me cozying up to the game because it's my favorite, it's just... a new take. of course, it did have a period where it was far worse, and didn't deliver on anything it promised, but now..? it's grown into a beautiful game. recommended for those who like to explore.
