Early Access Review
Game is in a completely unacceptable state even for early access. This has a good idea but the execution isn't it, and it shouldn't be called a NMRIH game either, it's nothing like it. Absolute joke.

Love this game, but Arrowhead need to wake up and balance the game the complete opposite way. Start buffing the worst stratagems, weapons etc and then figure it out from there once every weapon is at least good.

Update: They cooked.

After playing this for about 60 ish hours and finally reaching the ending as well as getting all achievements I can safely say that this game is definitely not gonna be for everyone. It's super repetitive once you figure out the flow of the game as well as how things work.

However for me it seems to scratch some kind of itch, it's an evolution game but it feels like a more personal one, the music, the vibes, the exploration and the personality of the game is kinda what pushed me forward to see the ending and finish it. It's a nicely designed game if not for the lackluster combat and repetitiveness.

Visuals wise it's also not the best, the general environment and landscapes do look quite nice however what absoultely kills it all for me is the shadows, they are so undefined and low resolution, just look at your hominids shadow in complete sunlight and you'll see what I mean. Textures and animations look pretty decent especially the animations of the animals, very nicely done.

The game is not for everyone but to me it's better that way, it scratches that unique itch and I really want Panache to continue this series whether it's through a sequel or an expansion/update. 7/10

"Dubai's harbor was filled with sand when storms first wracked the city. The corpses were your doing."
"Can you even remember why you came here?"
"The US military does not condone the killing of unarmed combatants. But this isn't real, so why should you care?"
"If you were a better person, you wouldn't be here."

An homage to the diverse world of metal, this game exudes a distinct style that commands admiration. While the narrative exhibits promise, a few missteps can be noted. The music and visuals are undeniably exceptional, although the dated Unreal Engine 2.5 graphics detract from the overall experience. The gameplay, however, proves to be divisive among players.

The hack and slash segments of the game deliver satisfying and impactful combat. Nonetheless, the enjoyment is somewhat marred by the adversaries' sponginess, a design choice influenced by the game's integration of real-time strategy (RTS) elements, which I will discuss shortly. Although the combos possess a certain finesse, they lack the desired depth, while the blood and gore contribute positively to the overall atmosphere.

The expansive open-world environment is visually impressive and enjoyable to explore. Regrettably, the collectibles and side quests fall short, exhibiting a lack of complexity and repetition, with only a few notable exceptions.

Now, the RTS aspect, which the game seemingly downplays in its marketing and trailers, presents an intriguing concept. While offering moments of enjoyment, it proved too easy in the campaign, even on Brutal difficulty, with the enemy AI failing to pose a substantial challenge. Resorting to a mod that enhances the AI's capabilities highlighted the developers' reliance on a simplistic enemy AI design.

The RTS controls, particularly for controller input, prove subpar, lacking intuitive functionality. Although the game demands organization and strategic planning akin to traditional RTS titles, its fast-paced nature often leaves players struggling to keep up with the enemy AI, which operates without the constraints of button inputs. Though utilizing a mod improves the experience, a well-balanced challenge between simplicity and relentless difficulty seems essential, especially considering the enemy avatar's invincibility in the campaign.

Notwithstanding these issues, I appreciate the game's ambition and potential, especially during the climactic final battle, despite the presence of occasional silly AI behaviour.

Having held significant meaning during my childhood, replaying the game in later years exposes its flaws more readily. However, envisioning a sequel set in the same world, featuring the original cast and infused with the same love for metal, holds the promise of an outstanding and profoundly gratifying experience. Let us hope Double Fine can realise this potential and make it a reality.

Two main reasons I'm giving a negative review.

1) The game is dead almost everywhere as far as I can tell, in Oceania it's impossible to get a game. The only way you'll be able to play is through their discord server and pinging people who wanna play. Very inefficient and a huge red flag that the game is dead. Checking the steam charts will tell you that as well as this game is not on any other launchers or consoles. Basically impossible to even play the game to properly review it.

2) The devs are censoring people on outlets who express negativity. Loyal users like Mildoro and Sherrif Pit have expressed criticism and disappointment over 0.9.3. Keep in mind these people are the most loyal fans of the game and have supported it from the beginning. Now that they've expressed negativity on an update, they just get banned off of the Steam forums, Discord, Reddit and blocked on Twitter. Even informing the Discord server to never speak of them again.

I hope you never find success in future titles if you continue to ignore feedback and censor users like this.

I recently was gonna go back and play this game with my buds for a good laugh and some memories of this game,
then I saw the complete gameplay overhaul and I thought okay as long as it's not bad or anything.

What the ♥♥♥♥ have they done with this game? IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT!
This update is garbage as they've taken out all the systems and mechanics that made people like Deceit in the first place, now they've chucked all that out the window in favour of being a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Among Us clone.

Devs, listen to your actual fanbase and revert this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ update, you say dOn'T jUsT sAy rEvErT wE nEeD rEaSoNs, you don't need any reasons as you already ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ know them.

For anyone reading this, do not play this game and if you're currently playing then stop as we need to get the old Deceit back so we can play the actual good version.

And as for the devs. REVERT NOW!

I've been on and off when it comes to rhythm games, some I love and some I'm just not interested in. I'm happy to say that Beat Saber is my number one rhythm game to play when I wanna have fun, it's such a simple concept yet it expands to surprisingly deep levels. It's the literal meaning of easy to play and hard to master. Both casuals and hardcore rhythm experts will certainly love this game to death for it's simplistic yet fun mechanics of hitting boxes.

What really makes this game my favourite is it's modding capabilities, being able to import as well as make your own custom songs is what keeps a rhythm game alive and have a community that thrives, Clone Hero is also a good example of that.

In conclusion, I think it's among the best of its class with it's simplistic yet deep gameplay once you dive into it and with the addition of being able to play or make your favourite songs is a huge bonus

P.S Please find a way to make custom songs playable in multiplayer, thanks
