Short Review:
Solid base game, could easily drop a few hundred hours into it as is (I already have), but it's a bit shallow in a lot of places, and wont really shine until theres some dlc dropped and modders get some time with the CK. As is now, decent game, but if you wait a year or even 6 months it will be way better.

Basically its your standard Bethesda fare, just in space. I've heard it described as both Daggerfall In Space and Bethesda Does Mass Effect. Both fit. I'd recommend it for sure, just maybe wait until the CK drops to get it if you're still on the fence.

Alternate More Detailed Review:
It's good along the lines of typical Bethesda fare like fallout or oblivion. This is definitely a game that's going to stick around for the next decade, and could easily have a lot of replayability over that decade, especially with the creation kit tools. My advice is if you're still on the fence give it a year, then come back to it.

A lot of negatives given to it are there are a lot more menu hopping than pure open world, and going into it expecting a straight fallout 4 in space will leave you disappointed. But if you go in expecting a fallout 4 lite in space, and the understanding that like the other Bethesda titles it is going to get better with time, it's a pretty amazing game.

I've already beaten it once and I'm going through my second playthrough, and I absolutely love the story and all the expansive little tangents and quest lines you can go off into. If you dropped hundreds of hours in fallout and hundreds of hours in skyrim, there's a good chance you're going to drop hundreds of hours in starfield.

The ship building can be a little wonky but once you get used to it it's pretty amazing, the outpost building is pretty cool but I think it needs some work, the NPC interactions can be a little jarring until you get used to the style, and you can very easily tell that Microsoft making Bethesda do a year of bug fixing shines through.

I would recommend it, just maybe not right away. At least wait until the creation kit tools come out and see what some modders do, like with fallout it really didn't shine until the modders got a hold of it and there was about a year of updates from the studio.

This whole adventure was beautiful.
I usually don't play this kind of game, but this one was worth it.
Nevermind being the loving dad of 3 cats myself, the adventure was so chill and nicely paced it's definitely a fun romp.
Sure its short...
But it tugs at the heartstrings.

PS.
That ending left me wanting more, I really need to see Stray find his cat friends again, let there be a Stray 2 pleeeeeeease dear devs?
I'll send you catnip! I will, I really will!

Its Terraria....
With mod support.....
And a healthy modding community....
What more do you want?

PSA: Get the x64 version installed right away after installing this one (theres a good guide for it on here), as it will remove pretty much all lag issues you may have

Early Access Review
They say at current build there's about 14 hours of playtime in the game, with a planned 40 total.
Understatement of the year...

in the first 24 I logged 14 hours, and still just starting the campaign...

Amazingly well done, very well designed for an early access, feels more like a 1.0 in design. There's still bugs, ofc, but I've rarely come across them, and then only specific ones.

Soundtrack sounds like a strait homage to Firefly
Gameplay is awesome
Mechanics are sound

Physics needs work, I'm sick of pulling off an item and have it flip out wildly and smash itself against something. My crosshair is on it, I'm not moving, everything is rock steady, so ofc the cryo container I'm grabbing needs to rocket off towards the fuel pods and wreck half the ship.....suuuuuuuure.

And that timer......
I get why its there, I get what you were going for there, and it makes sense, it really does!
Except it doesn't in reality. Not if that's the only version. Look, this is gonna be a hard question you devs are going to have to ask, what's more important, that niche core dynamic you were aiming for, or the games broader accessibility.

Here's the argument:
Campaign: Pro=My progress is saved, I'm working towards an end goal ship by ship. Con=15 minutes is not enough!!!
Freeplay: Pro=Have as long as I want to collect *every last piece* of this ship. Con=Its pretty unrewarding, being not saved.

And that's pretty much it. For me, if that time limit was removed entirely, and more content guaranteed, I'd call this a 10/10 game!

Edit: Oh and the intro to the campaign? Literally the coolest intro to a game I have seen in years! It opened and my jaw dropped

Everyone has a Beast inside, hidden desires of carnage and destruction, of tearing asunder and seeing guts spilled......

Release that here... let it nibble at the delicious banquet of loosing pain, let it forage on the vast multitude of weapons at its disposal. Let it swing with the greathammer, or impale with the spear. Let it loose itself with every round, from the smallest pistol, to the far-seeing sniper, to the many automatics there. Watch it rejoice in the selection of energy based guns, and see it redouble when it realises they can be supercharged. And when its body is worn out but its mind is still ticking, sit down eagerly beside it as you create your deathmachines of glory with all the extra bits made for your use.

Honestly, there's so much stuff in this, with more added regularly, why not release your inner Dark?
Now...wheres my lightsaber?

Early Access Review
Nearly five hours in, and I've:
-Built a battleboat
-Fought against some players with it (all parties willing, of course)
-Raced jets across the sky
-Dove into the sea with a pretty nifty sub
-Raced some rallies and won a few
And now I'm working on my amphibious yacht...

All in all, it's a very fun game so far. You remember that feeling you got when you were blissfully building away with your Lego set?
I had that the entire time I was building, plus the added glee of knowing I would get to DRIVE it after too. There's a few issues that I've found so far, but being its early access I expected as much.

Pros:
-Its a better lego builder than actual Lego builders (imho)
-Vehicle handling is really nice (except airplanes, though that might just be me)
-Builder mechanic feels... I dunno, snug would be my choice of word
-The bump function in the builder is a godsend
-Sandbox world is pretty big
-Decent graphics/pleasant art style
-Respawn mechanic/change map spawn location is pretty dang seamless
-So's the repair function
-Weapons feel real nice too

Cons:
-Sandbox ocean needs more stuff in it (It's early access)
-Builder needs a symmetry mode (It's early access)
-Block placement is a little wonky (not bad persay, just persnickety sometimes), but dont you dare mess with the copy function (ie: where the new copy is placed)
-Please for the love of all that is good add airplane wheels! (It's early access)
-I feel there need to be some sort of block cleanup function, OUT of builder mode (It's early access)
-More blocks please, especially 1x_ corners for the 1x3/1x4 blocks (It's early access)
-This "Exploration Mode" I keep hearing about sounds cool, but they took it out. Don't worry, I doubt its going to stay out though, it makes sense to pull it out until the game balancing was done
-NETCODE: I'm just a layman but any multiplayer lobby I joined had bad return lag on any action more than just moving your vessel. I was still able to have battles, but not being able to see your shots until they hit kinda sucked. (It's early access)

TBH: The devs could just fix up those issues, polish it off a bit, sit back, and they'd have a decent game that'd get good playtime. With how active the devs seem to be with the community, I don't see it stopping there....

I'd give it a 7/10, being early access that actually pretty decent. In fact, there has only been one other early access game I had rated higher than a 5 personally, and that was Space Engineers....

And looky looky how many hours I have in THAT

Early Access Review
Basically a better Subnautica. Sure the map is much smaller (or at least it seems so), however the world is far more detailed and filled in than the original. Plus, we finally got large rooms, and the ability to put windows on their roofs! So thats awesome. As well, if you have ocean fears and the original Subnautica was too wide open for you to dodge your fright, the closer-in of this world might just be what you're looking for. Good graphics, good game, good devs: I'd definitely recommend!

Why are you even looking here? It's Skyrim! If it can make someone who just couldn't get into the earlier games (me), fall in love with the series and REPLAY all the older ones (still gotta buy the rest), dont you think you should be playing this?
Of course you should. Now buy it!

And the amount of mods for this? Wow. Don't look at just the workshop, Nexus is where it's at....(44000+)

maybe this game was amazing in its day, but if you're looking for a lego-like builder game, go get lego worlds. in blockland, you spawn in a featureless flatland world, with no terrain, and you have to make everything yourself, from grass to hills to lakes. you cant even make caves, the ground you spawn on is as far as you can go. no caves, no mining, no basements.. lego world has procedurally generated worlds, and they will be adding multiplayer. dont make the same mistake i did. buy lego worlds, its a way better lego sandbox than this crap.
