A military cyberpunk anime style RPG filled with brain crushing and time leaping, all tied together neatly by the red strings of fate. One of the best anime action RPGs.

I already knew this was going to be a great game before it came out and was not surprised at all after getting the chance to play it, and yes this is a great game.

The story is split between two main characters, Yuito and Kasane and you get to choose who to play as in the beginning. I don’t think it really matters who you play as first or in which order as they’re both great though I played the Yuito story first and then played the Kasane story because I somehow felt like doing it. Also another thing regarding the story, it would be best if you played BOTH characters and stories if you want to get the complete story, since both characters have their own unique story lines and scenes that intertwine and connect, and thus there may be gaps in the story that you may not understand if you only played one of the stories. The story itself is alright, I found it a bit weird at times but still fine for the most part.

The gameplay is excellent. The fighting and combat in this game is top tier in a way that you can perform many different kinds of attacks and combinations using different powers and abilities creating a dynamic, fun and engaging variety of methods to take out enemies. The combat also encourages the player to make use of their surroundings to their advantage like using certain objects around the environment to attack enemies in very cool ways. It is addicting and I never got bored of it at all and this is where this game shines the most in my opinion.

The characters are interesting and their bonding events are also equally interesting as you learn more about their personalities and their other selves. The environment is also very cool looking, especially the city area and the soundtrack is also pretty decent.

In regards to the two main characters, personally I think Yuito has a better combat and attack style while Kasane has a better story perspective and personality. Either way, they’re both great characters.

However there seems to be some criticism from people who claim that there is too much dialogue in this game and it feels like it’s a visual novel at times but personally I don’t see the big deal. Most anime games tend to have a lot of dialogue and overall the large amount of dialogue in this game doesn’t take away the game’s immersion at all as the dialogues are also quite interesting. But if you’re the person who doesn’t like reading and listening through plenty of dialogues, then I suppose I can understand why you might not like this game.

Overall though, the pros outweigh the cons here and this is definitely something worth playing, for both anime and non-anime fans, though anime fans would probably appreciate this more.

Back 4 Disappointment, Back 4 Failure, Back 4 Generic & Forgettable and Time 4 Retirement for Turtle Rock Studios, a soulless imitation and a disgrace to the Left 4 Dead series.

I was ecstatic when I heard the announcement for Back 4 Blood (B4B). That’s because it was being made by Turtle Rock Studios (TRS), the ‘original creators of Left 4 Dead’ (L4D), and also because L4D remains one of my favourite games of all time. However I was still a bit skeptical due to their previous failure of a game which was Evolve, but even then I remained optimistic that they would regain their reputation with B4B, since they were the ‘original creators of L4D’. But little did I know that this would be one of the biggest mistakes I’ve ever made in my entire life. There are so many things wrong with this game that I almost wanted to quit playing this game halfway through because it was SO BORING but I decided to give it a fair chance and thus finished the game, and with that I can now vomit all over this game, Boomer style.

First, the game mechanics are too COMPLICATED. One of the great things about L4D is SIMPLICITY, you just need to worry about your health, your team’s health and your ammo, that’s it. L4D's concept is simple and easy to understand for anyone. However in B4B, not only do you need to worry about health and ammo, you also need to worry about stamina, copper currency and cards, all of which takes away the simplicity of the game in a bad way.

The stamina takes away intense moments in the game and can be annoying especially when running from threats, the copper system ultimately makes exploration and scavenging items useless since almost everything can be bought from the item box in the safe room using copper, which also promotes selfish behaviour as everyone would just care about their own money and items. The card system is a complete mess, creating confusion and a lack of teamwork as everyone would just create powerful decks and not care about working as a team at all, plus the fact that you have to stop to read and analyze ALL the different cards and what they do to find out which cards you want for your build is just TOO MUCH for the average player.

Second, and this is the worst thing, everything and I mean EVERYTHING in this game is GENERIC and BORING. The survivors are boring, they look generic, their voice acting is terrible and they lack a personality, unlike the survivors in L4D that are interesting and have a personality to them. The levels are also boring, none of them are memorable at all, unlike L4D which has plenty of memorable locations like Mercy Hospital, Liberty Mall, Ducatel Sugar Mill, New Orleans Veterans Memorial Bridge and many more.

Similarly, the special infected are also a giant disappointment. The designs are bland and generic, they don’t stand out in any way and are difficult to recognize even when compared to the common infected. Also the special infected are just carbon copies of those in L4D, most of which are just hybrids, there’s no innovation whatsoever. The Hocker is basically the Spitter and Hunter combined, the Tallboy is a lame version of the Charger, the Ogre is a lousy version of the Tank and the Retch is basically the Boomer and Spitter combined but more disgusting.

Audio cues are also non-existent in B4B, meaning the special infected just pop up out of nowhere with no indication whatsoever, which means the player has absolutely no way to know when a special infected is around the area. They do make some grunt noises, but it's barely noticeable and distinguishable. In L4D however, each special infected has a specific audio cue when they’re around and they have clear and recognizable sounds they make.

The game is also poorly balanced in terms of difficulty and is unfair if you’re playing on anything higher than Recruit difficulty. The Swarm mode is also so ridiculous that I couldn’t even bring myself to play an entire match of it as I was facepalming the entire time, how is this the equivalent to the amazing Versus mode from L4D?!

So what does all this mean? Simply put:

No, this game is NOT the spiritual successor to L4D as it fails in so many ways possible in comparison to L4D, it is merely a L4D clone.

No, TRS is NOT the original creators of L4D, TRS only came up with the initial concept for the game, it was VALVE who did the implementation and the necessary work to make L4D the success it is today.

But does this mean it’s a bad game? Not really, because this game is still quite fun to play especially with friends, at least for the first few hours but it just gets boring quick, there is also NO MOD SUPPORT for this game which is a HUGE mistake as one of the main reasons why L4D is still so popular today would be its active modding community.

The only positive thing I can say about this game is perhaps the gun play. There are plenty of guns to use and they are actually fun to shoot, along with the different attachments you can equip and aiming down sight features. The game is also well optimized which is a rarity in modern gaming but that's pretty much it though.

Edit: It has come to my attention that this game finally added solo progression (solo progression was absent at launch), meaning that you can now unlock things by playing solo, so you don't always have to play online every time. This is great, but still something that should have been here in the beginning and not added only a few months after launch, thus proving that this game is poorly designed.

Of course, there is still a possibility that all these flaws will be fixed with future updates but at this point I don’t really care anymore. I’m not going to wait for months or years for fixes to things that should not have been there in the first place due to poor game design and management.

Overall, another failure and another disappointment from TRS. It is truly a shame because this game had so much potential and hype but failed miserably to deliver. Maybe next time don’t call yourself the ‘spiritual successor to L4D’ if you don’t even understand why L4D is so great and loved to this day.

A dark and mysterious world filled with demons and mysteries that no man can ever solve, the only way to survive is by fighting, with and against demons.

I've never played a Shin Megami Tensei (SMT) game before in my entire life, although I did play all the Persona games which is supposed to be a spin-off of SMT as SMT is the mainline entry for the Megaten series. At first glance, this looks very similar to Persona in many ways but in reality there are quite a few differences between the two games.

Firstly, in terms of story, SMT has a very dark and serious tone in its story and atmosphere. Everything in this game makes the player feel dread, stress and requires the player to take everything in the game seriously, whereas Persona has a more light-hearted and easy-going feel. I actually got quite scared when playing this game at first as I wasn't used to this dark tone as I was so used to Persona's light tone. I got used to it eventually though, and I think it's pretty good and I've started to like it quite a bit.

Secondly, SMT's main focus isn't really on characters but rather on demons. I mean yes, you can still talk with human characters occasionally but they don't really have much interesting dialogue and you can't really form a bond or relationship with them as you're pretty much spending most of your time talking with demons rather than with humans. However I do understand that SMT is supposed to be dark and serious so the characters aren't really the main focus here as compared to Persona which has a stronger emphasis on human characters.

Thirdly, in terms of difficulty, SMT is much harder than Persona. Seriously, I'm not even joking here, the boss fights in this game are one of the toughest I've ever faced and I've died so many times in this game it's not even funny. After playing this game, Persona feels like a walk in the park and is not even comparable to the high difficulty provided in this game. Exploiting weaknesses is not enough here, you need to come up with different strategies and you really need to know what you're doing to defeat these bosses. The normal enemies themselves are also pretty tough to deal with so I recommend playing at a lower difficulty in the beginning or you will struggle a lot.

The gameplay is almost identical in both games, both are turn-based JRPGs and both have almost the same kind of attacks with the exception of a few attacks exclusive to SMT. The monsters are also called Demons in this game instead of Shadows/Personas and your teammates here are demons whereas in Persona you have human teammates.

Overall, this game is more dark, serious and difficult than Persona, however I do recommend this to all Persona fans to try out as well as it is also quite fun to play once you get used to it. You'll definitely have a different experience in SMT than in Persona, but it is different in a good way. However, if you're the person who loves the social links and calendar system in Persona, then you'll probably not like this game but even then I would still recommend giving this game a try as I had a great time playing this overall.

High school dating simulator, high school horror simulator. Girls are scary and want to have 'fun' with you simulator.

Holy mother of God, this is one of the scariest games I've ever played.

No seriously, if you thought games like Resident Evil, Slenderman, Outlast, The Evil Within, Amnesia, Silent Hill and Five Nights at Freddy's are scary games, this game will blow all those games out of the water easily. This game has officially made me terrified of girls, who knew girls could be so terrifying?

Also, Monika looks like she wants to stab me if I betray her, (I won't betray you Monika, even though you are creepy as hell!), Yuri looks like she wants to torture me, Sayori looks like she wants to make me commit seppuku and Natsuki looks like she wants to burn, bury or choke me alive.

10/10 Would play this game and get terrified of Monika again

Doom Eternal will fill you with plenty of doom (the good type) for eternity (literally).

I've played Doom (2016) and it was already really good. So I thought there was no way they would be able to top that game, but I was completely wrong. This game improves on Doom (2016) by adding cool new features such as parkour, dashing and many other glory kills. The glory kills in this game feel even better than that of Doom (2016).

For example, you can:

Have a shotgun and go BOOM BOOM blowing off people's heads
Slice off someone's arms and body with a blade
Gouge out someone's eyes
Stab someone in the face, eye, mouth, brain
Stab someone with their own hands and feet
Stomp on someone's face and crush it like a watermelon
Chainsaw someone's body in half
Rip someone's body into pieces with your hands
Twist someone's neck
Slam someone's head onto the ground
Headbutt someone and crack their skull
Pull off someone's head from their body
Poke someone's inner organs out and stuff it in their mouth
Listen to the most badass music while doing ALL of the above

There is really nothing to hate about Doom Eternal, although the multiplayer is kind of bland and unnecessary in my opinion, kind of like Doom (2016)'s multiplayer. I would recommend this game for the single player but not the multiplayer. You can still try the multiplayer if you want though.

Overall, if you enjoyed Doom (2016), you will most definitely enjoy this game.

A creepy village, a creepy church, a creepy island, a creepy laboratory, all with creepy enemies. The most balanced Resident evil game in terms of horror and action.

My first ever Resident Evil game I’ve played. I played this back on console when it first came out and I enjoyed it so much that I had to play it again on PC.

Now I know there are some critics claiming that the game took a change in direction from the first three RE games focusing a lot on action and quick time events, but personally I don’t see the big deal. I mean, the game still focuses on survival horror which is what Resident Evil is all about, it still has inventory management, ammo conservation and puzzles, all of which were in the previous three games as well. The enemies and bosses are also quite scary and the merchant is one of the coolest characters in any RE game. Personally, I feel these are great additions to the game as to break away from the usual formula of Resident Evil and to try something new, it also doesn’t overdo the action and quick time events like Resident Evil 6.

Overall, this is easily my favourite Resident Evil game and I hope more fans would come to appreciate this game more.

A step down, a complete letdown, a lackluster experience. Jill doesn't deserve this treatment and Nemesis does not approve.

Is this supposed to be the same people who did the perfect and flawless RE2 remake? If so, then this just makes me sad.

First of all, I’ve never played the original RE3 so I won’t be comparing this to that but even then I can see a huge downgrade from RE2 remake. The game is way too short as you can finish everything within 4 to 6 hours and if you just rush through everything you can finish it under 3 hours. Put that together with the absurd price of this game and it’s just not worth it at all. There’s also no replay value whatsoever other than trying to unlock certain items or speedrunning, none of which feels good at all due to the short length. There also seems to be a lot of cut content from the original RE3 according to those who played the original game before which is really sad as I wanted to see all those elements being remade in this game. The game feels rushed and not as polished as the RE2 remake which is a shame since I enjoyed that game so much. A lot of the encounters with Nemesis are also scripted and you’d already know when he’ll appear and when he won’t which breaks all of the fear that I had and is nothing compared to encountering the Tyrant/Mr.X from RE2, and that was a great fear that I enjoyed.

Also talking about RE Resistance, since you also get that along with this game, let’s just say RE Resistance is just a damn joke, in a bad way. I’m not going to talk about how dead this game already is but just the overall concept is so weird and boring. I tried playing it for a few hours and just gave up entirely. I would rather they give back Mercenaries mode instead of this crappy multiplayer trash.

Overall, I’m really disappointed in this remake that doesn’t do any justice and doesn’t live up to the original game and I really hope Capcom could learn from this disaster and just do like what they did with RE2 remake. The only reason I would recommend this game is only if you’re a huge fan of Resident Evil and survival horror games. And if you’re planning to get this game, wait for a sale because it’s just not worth it at full price, I bought this game at a discount and I still kind of regret buying it to be honest but I just wanted to see it for myself and also because I’m a huge Resident Evil fan.

A small town filled with fog, going inside TVs, a talking bear, murder mysteries, how could I say No? I mean, how could I not say 'Persona!'?

🎶 Now I face out I hold out
I reach out to the truth of my life
Seeking to seize on the whole moment to now break away
Oh God let me out
Can you let me out
Can you set me free from this dark inner world
Save me now
Last beat in the soul 🎶

🎶 So step on up to the plate
Meet your fate
Walkin’ straight on into the lion’s lair
Step on up – up to the plate
Cause this ain’t no game
It’s time to make history yeah! 🎶

Yes, a Persona game has finally appeared on PC for the first time ever, and I still can't believe it. 10 years ago, if someone told me that Persona would come to PC I would call that person an idiot and ignore him for the rest of my life. But on 14 June 2020, if someone told me that Persona would come to PC I would love that person so much and marry that person immediately.

The Persona series has been one of my all time favourtie JRPGs ever and it still is today. The characters, music and story are just so good. The Persona games also don't take themselves too seriously, nor do they take themselves too lightly, the balance between them is just nice and is something that a lot of other JRPGs now seem to fail at doing, some JRPGs take themselves too seriously in story while others focus too much on fantasy.

So this is Persona 4, the Golden version to be precise, and I've actually never played this version before, I've only played the original version on console. The Golden version adds new cutscenes and things to do plus a new character called Marie, and a new ending. All these new additions are welcome and it offered me a fresh experience playing this version.

Overall, if you love JRPGs, then this is a MUST to play. You will not regret it, I can assure you this game is bear-y good. Approved by Teddie

Russia snowy train monster nuclear apocalypse simulator 2019.

This is probably one of the most controversial games of 2019 and it is for a reason. However I'm not going to talk about the controversy surrounding this game as there are already plenty of other reviews and gaming news outlets that have covered this, so I'll just leave it at that. You can go visit those places if you're interested to know about the controversy.

Anyway, the Metro series is a pretty good series that I've put quite a lot of hours into. I've played Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light years ago and they were great. This game marks the third game of the Metro series and does not disappoint at all compared to its prequels, in fact I think it's even better than its prequels.

Firstly, the story is really intriguing. Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light both delivered intriguing storylines, and this game is of no exception. The story pulls you in and makes you actually care for the characters whether they be the main characters or the side characters, along with great narratives similar to reading a good book.

But perhaps the element that I loved the most about the Metro series is the environment. It makes you feel immersed and and feels so realistic and similar to that of an actual nuclear post-apocalyptic situation. The gameplay itself is spectacular, as the game mechanics guide you on how to survive in an post-apocalyptic environment with crafting weapons and ammo, patching gas masks and so much more.

The performance for this game is for the most part great. I didn't really experience any major frame drops or graphical issues or glitches. However, I did experience crashes at one point in the game for absolutely no reason whatsoever and perhaps a few seconds of frame rate drops but other than that it runs really well. This game does put a lot of strain on the GPU though, more than that of other Metro games, probably because the graphics for this game is pretty high level quality, however this is one of the few games that support ray tracing, so if your GPU can handle it, you can turn on ray tracing which makes the game look AMAZING.

Overall, if you ignore all the controversy surrounding this game, the game is very well polished and I am very satisfied with this game. I highly recommend this game or the Metro series in general for everyone to try out.

Grown up Rean, grown up Class VII, new adorable Class VII characters, a new chapter in the Erebonia arc, new enemies, I officially call this Trails of New Steel.

The Trails series has easily been one of my favorite JRPGs I’ve played. Now this is Cold Steel 3 (CS3) which is the third game in the series so you would need to play Cold Steel 1 & 2 (CS1 & 2) before playing this as this is a direct sequel to those.

I feel the story picks up a lot better than it did in CS2 as there are a whole new set of main characters in this game and it makes the story feel really new and fresh, as if you’re playing a totally different game and not Cold Steel. And although you can still see the old characters from CS1 & 2, they’re not really the main spotlights in this game anymore with the exception of the Rean, who is still the protagonist and center of this game.

In terms of difficulty, I feel like this game is a little tougher than CS2 but still easier than CS1. It’s not really difficult as long as you take your time to attack, defend and heal accordingly and when necessary.

The game plays very smoothly, although there were a few areas in the game where the FPS dropped drastically for me, overall it is very stable and well optimized. This game also has a lot of replay value as the content for it is vast and huge, similar to that of CS1 and CS2. The character models and graphics are even better than CS1 and CS2 this time, making it a whole lot more fun to play and the gameplay mechanics are somewhat similar to the first two games but with some new additional features.

For fans of Cold Steel and the Trails series, I would definitely recommend this and for those who love JRPG games with huge replay value and with loads of content, this is the game for you. But just remember to play CS1 & 2 first otherwise you won’t understand anything in this game at all.
