The reason you'd play this over other Tetris games is because, despite the simplicity of tetris, this game offers an interesting and engaging experience while playing Tetris that the other games don't offer. Interesting and engaging experiences are why people want to play a game, and that's true for Tetris as it is any other game.

Between the music and how it's affected by all of your decisions, the visuals that are the most splendorous of the Tetris games (think Tetris Worlds but on crack), has good VR compatibility, is reasonably easy to run (3070 Ti and doesn't even struggle at 200%/4x VR resolution [200% actually means 4x here]), and feels good to play.

Do keep in mind though, I think it's fair to say that this game was made moreso for intermediate players than for pros or noobs. I'm not exactly the biggest Tetris noob going into this game but even after over 20 hours playing this game, it was surprisingly tough to SS (max rank) all the levels on Easy difficulty. That said, it seems that most players also recommend other tried and true Tetris games for the pros as well.

I like how engaging of an experience this game is and will continue to play it for everything Tetris outside of Tetrisphere. Highly recommended especially to those intermediate players who're already pretty good.

Early Access Review
Might be hated for being that guy but,

Okayish sidescrolling running game for a few minutes; you control mostly up/down movement while running to pick up "hope point"s (blue balls) and avoiding disappointment ones (red balls). Sometimes red expletive signs gravitate to you, which you have to cover your ears. The gameplay gets boring quickly.

Good intentions, but not worth playing for most people

NOTE: Reviewing the manned gameplay, not the robotics (although I could be convinced to try it)

+ Great Survival Potential, Immersive & Atmospheric (not literally though lul), Co-op is fun.
- Not good enough tutorials, tough to learn, will not consistently run smoothly unless turning down physics simulation (which is a nice-to-have)

Survival & Building: It's got a really good foundation and now I'm searching for games similar to this because I want that itch to be scratched more fully. It's just a shame that it took so much time to really adequately learn all the ins and outs. Because of the meh-quality tutorials that are there and the plentiful that aren't there but should be, it took me a good 8+ hrs to really start to get the hang of it and even then I thought it was buggy in places where I simply didn't understand how everything works. If there's any major gameplay complaint (after learning how the game works), it's that there's not enough to do after you've done the campaign for the manned missions.

Immersion: This game is one of the most immersive games I've played in recent years. I don't entirely know if it's because of the graphics/sound, first person, or something about the gameplay but it's easy to just RP as your character surviving on Mars for hours (...again, once you learn the game and aren't dying or getting frustrated every couple minutes).

Co-op: The co-op is pretty fun once you get done with the campaign but there's not really any direction in it and there doesn't seem to be much more that you can do in co-op that you didn't already do in the campaign.

Graphics & performance: The graphics are fine. Nothing spectacular but perfectly good and nothing really wrong with it. Strangely the higher physics simulation setting causes a crazy amount of lag in certain places. This sort of sucks though because it seems like the physics go way more crazy than they should when set lower and there's no way to make it smooth when it's at its highest settings near certain objects. Also the lighting detail option causes inexplicable lag even though visually I can't tell a difference even in the most lit areas.

It's really a shame to me that this was only ever really a side project, with Bohemia knowing it wouldn't sell that much and knowing where their bread & butter truly is (DayZ/Arma). I think this game could go from "good game that's difficult to learn but ultimately has a great foundation" to "incredible immersive sandbox with and without friends" if enough attention was put into it.

When looking at the game I personally don't think it looks like a bad game necessarily, so long as its gameplay holds up... but it doesn't.

One of the things I first noticed is how slow paced this game is. When I think of a space shooter or game where I command a fleet, I don't exactly think "fast paced action" but this isn't really either of those, just a holographic projection where you control what your fleet does.

If you were to think about buying this game, it would probably only be due to its strategic gameplay. In my opinion though, the AI quite a bit gets in the way of that, as it seems to either be broken in some situations and will flat out not do what you tell it to do, or do extremely simple commands- one at a time usually. Even if the AI worked exactly as I expected and wanted it to however, there's still the issue of strategy.

The main issue I have with it is that it's usually easy to exploit by just simply using the best ships - the bombers. The main capital ships I typically never had to worry about but if you just went with the best ships, you win. Really, it's that easy. Even if the game were more balanced however, you could, at least theoretically, just copy what the enemy AI's ships are and go after their capital ships first. I never tried it because it was already easy enough to exploit the game mechanics but I don't see why that strategy wouldn't work.

If I could suggest something for the game or games in the future, it would be to make the enemy AI have their own set of ships, ones that you can't choose so it becomes more about countering the AI as opposed to just copying it and going with a slightly better strategy.

Even if all of those issues were out of the way however, I could only imagine myself recommending this game if you absolutely want to play this game for its unique mechanics, as I personally haven't seen any turn based strategy games quite like this. Then again, that might just simply be because I typically don't play turn based strategy games.
Still, $15 is such high price to ask for considering the broken and easily exploitable mechanics and the fact that you can get a LOT better games out there for free.

This game has an easy-to-understand core with mostly intuitive controls and seemingly simple game mechanics. When you look at it, it doesn't look like all that bad of a game, keeping in mind of course the audience that it would appeal to. While I agree that I'm probably not part of that target audience, I still don't think I would really enjoy this game even if I were.

For starters, the jumping just doesn't feel consistent outside of max velocity and has caused many annoyed restarts for me. Who knows, maybe some of that is just because I personally couldn't get used to it easily but I'd honestly be surprised if many people out there actually do get accustomed to it quickly. Another problem for me, and this might be the biggest one, is actually the bucket of candy itself.
The main challenge was never figuring out the puzzles or even executing them usually, but rather trying to get in the bucket of candy afterward.

It just seems so unclear as to what the game's really about. Is it supposed to be about the puzzles? Is it supposed to be the challenge of getting into the bucket? Maybe it's the combination of both, but it feels to me like the developer just couldn't decide.

Another annoyance that I had was when I was trying to go for 3 stars on all stages, meaning that I had to complete them in fewer turns. There were a bunch of times where I had to restart levels because this game sometimes requires very precise aiming, something you wouldn't really expect for a game that looks like it's geared for kids and/or relaxed casual use.

Again, it just feels like this game doesn't really know what it's trying to be- and I think that can cause a lot of frustration for people after they buy the game. To be fair though, it is only available on Steam and the game doesn't take 2 hours to beat so it's probably quite easy to get a refund if you're not happy with the purchase.

The soundtrack is pretty good and sounds pretty relaxing. However, I would have liked to see more variety. I found myself taking my headset off after only about 20 minutes of gameplay due to the repitition in sounds.

The gameplay itself wasn't unenjoyable for me but I didn't find it as addictive or relaxing as I hoped it would. I think it's because although the tone and music are relaxing, my nature to try to be efficient like in strategy games made me want to click on everything in the fastest and best ways possible to get as many coins as quickly as reasonably possible. The actual mechanic of clicking on things just didn't make it addictive for me and the sheer amount of things to do in the game wouldn't really let me relax.

One good thing is that you can quit the game entirely and when you come back you'll end up with much more coins because of their system. However, I'm honestly not sure if it's a good thing that one of the best elements of the game is when you're away from it.

Still, I think this game has potential and serves as a good baseline for either having legitimately good relaxing gameplay OR having good fast paced gameplay. It's not something I'd personally pay $3 for though.

Turn off MSAA, it'll run like it did before. MSAA's unnecessary anyway.
Otherwise, good graphical update. Great game. Might as well play it like this, no?

It's a pretty good game without the lag. Join the public beta by right-clicking and going to properties. Once you join the public beta, it'll update. After that - no more lag!
It is a good game, just a shame that most people don't know because of the "official" release being so laggy.

I highly recommend this game, it's a very strategic shooter where you have to work with your teammates to win. It's extremely fun and addicting, I haven't been this addicted about a shooter since Quake 3.
