Roadcraft - not a snowrunner anymore, but not yet a roadcraft
This wonderful evening I immersed myself in Roadcraft, and I have something to tell you.

First, I'll touch on the technical part of the game, but on my Chinese with rx590 the game works perfectly, all settings are on medium, v sync off, FSR 3, 1080, lock 60 fps. And it gives out all 60, although in 3 hours of play there were a couple of freezes, apparently when loading resources, although runners seem to load everything at once except for equipment.

The picture suits me, and this is the main thing. Of course, on a 40** jacket it will be better, there is DLS and generation, everything is supported, but it's nice that the developers are sawing new games on the old engine and it works on saucepans. By the way, the optimization in the game is better than it was in Snowrunner and Expeditions at release. Everything is much smoother, there are no freezes and crashes.

As for the game itself, it really does look like a sandbox, like the one from childhood, only you don't have one dump truck but a bunch of equipment. While I'm on the second map, it's like the first but second. And I'm not tired of the game, I want to continue. You can already fill in the holes, but you can't lay asphalt yet.

The new thing is the lack of fuel and damage, and if the first is still debatable, then the second is just great. And great because now you can't crash into a small rock and total your KrAZ at full speed. Seriously, did anyone like that?

And besides, the absence of these mechanics allows you to focus on filling the next puddle with sand and not drag this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tank across half the map. And you don't need a technical.

It is in this non-tyres/runner part that these mechanics would be the most annoying. However, I wouldn't mind having them in an alternative hardcore/simulator mode.

The first map is a mini-tutorial, everything is easy and simple there, except for convoys. But I suppose convoys are a new pain. Well, sometimes they drive like this... All three cars from one convoy...

Sometimes 4 cars pass, but the fifth one doesn't and the route is disabled. In this case, a restart is enough for it to continue working for some time. Some routes are mandatory, some are not, but they provide resources that are needed to restore the infrastructure. Of course, you can collect resources with a rusty crane, but a rusty crane is another pain.

By the way, it's not just the crane that's rusty here, the new mechanics of rusty cars greet us...

Now all the cars found on the maps and received during the missions are rusty. And they are slightly worse than not rusty. And not rusty ones are now only in the store, for money. It is not yet clear what is with the economy, but at the start of the second map there is enough money to upgrade 2 cars at once. But there is not enough for a tracked dump truck for pre-order. But I sincerely advise you to put aside 27k, because by the end of the second map you will need to collect scrap metal, and since you can't drive in a pair here, a winch is only on scouts, then there are actually two options.

Or use a rusty crane to hook a truck with a side and carry it on the weight... Collecting scrap metal along the way.

Or buy a truck with a side and a crane for 27k.

It is worth mentioning separately the creation of roads, actually one of the main activities in the game. There are also two options here, we take a dump truck and a bulldozer, fill it with sand, level it, that's it. The road is ready, you can drive on it and the convoy easily passes deep puddles and mud, the only question is the number of dump trucks.

Or after the sand, roll the asphalt. This is the second option. In this case, you can roll the asphalt manually, or in automatic mode, but the automatic mode only works in those places where the task provides for laying asphalt.

Along with this, there is an interesting mechanic. Convoys break roads ... But here is the topic.

Before starting the convoy, you drive the route and mark difficult places, these are the ones that need to be covered with sand. The convoy passes once and actually this is basically enough to get a reward. Then it drives on its own. And over time, a rut forms in new places. And they have to go and fill them up.

At the same time, there are convoys that need to pass not just once, but, for example, ten times. But on my second map, the convoy managed to leave before receiving all the rewards and only then began to get stuck. Therefore, in fact, if the convoy does not carry resources, then it is not necessary to fill the road for it. It gets stuck and it doesn't matter.

It is also very pleasing that the dump truck can be loaded within the quarry radius, and not go twenty or thirty times to the point. Of course, the quarry zone is not everywhere, but in some cases it saves a lot of time
