Early Access Review
This game is great, I love it. I bought this game and played through it right when it came out, so keep in mind that this review is based on the game right when it launched in early access. Despite it being the start of early access, it's already great, very polished and the portion of the campaign that launched with early access is very lengthy, long enough that it's already the length of a complete campaign, so I already got my moneys worth, any updates that come out after leading up to the full release is a cherry on top.

But yeah, everything about this game is great. The gameplay, the combat and gunplay, the enemy AI (seriously, the enemy AI is really good, they're smart, aware and reactive), the level design, the weapons (even the starting weapon, the pistol, is a relevant weapon throughout the whole game), the pacing of the game, all of the different situations the game throws you in, the weapon upgrade system, how the secrets are placed are interesting and fun to find, etc.

The aesthetics of the game are great too. Everything from the visuals (the graphics, the artstyle, all of the tiny details in the environments, how the environments react to all of the destruction and gun fights, the animations and visuals of the weapon view models are so good, etc.) to the audio (great soundtrack, and very good and satisfying sound effects).

Also, this game runs on GZDoom. Yes, GZDoom, the community made source port and update of the original Doom engine. It runs on that, and it's insane what got pulled off with that engine in this game. If you showed me this game and I didn't know that it ran on GZDoom, I would have assumed that it was running on Unity.

Usually a game will entice you to play it by being captivating and engaging. That's not how this game is, this game lures you in the same way a slot machine does. There isn't a single engaging or interesting thing in this game, it's just simply about giving you dopamine hits as you watch lots of big numbers pop up on your screen, seeing chests open, see the meta progression progress, etc. It's very manipulative.

I see people hyping this game up, going on about how it's "crushing the AAA industry and showing them how it's done", but in reality this game's hype could easily start awful trends and set a bad precedent. Now that I think about it, I think I despise this game more than alot of the AAA games that come out.

Fun fact about the person who made this game, want to know what they did before they made this game? They worked in the gambling industry and worked on gambling games. I wasn't surprised when I found out about this.

This game made me think about the monkey's paw situation that would happen if peoples' wish of microtransactions, loot boxes and battle passes going poof came true, companies/publishers would just instead start making games like this.

Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this game.

I always despised RPGs and dungeon crawlers that have random encounters that pull you out of the world. So the fact that I really enjoyed this game and beat it, that says a lot.

I like The Room series, they're simple but good puzzle games. Check them out if you like puzzle games. As someone who likes those games and loves VR, I was intrigued when they made this game, which is a stand-alone VR game.

This game turned out to be a disappointment. Its not bad, but it disappointed me. What disappointed me about it is that despite the fact that its a VR-only game made from the ground up for VR, it doesn't do anything to make use of and take advantage of what VR is capable of. It doesn't feel like a made from the ground up for VR game, it feels like an optional VR-mode for a non-VR game. It feels like a VR game that came out in 2016. The studio that made this is a good studio as they made a series of games that I enjoyed, but sadly they don't understand VR at all. Even when ignoring the lackluster VR elements, the game isn't as good as the other games in The Room series.

Also, compare the pricetag of this game to the other games in this series. If this game took advantage of what VR is capable of, then I would have understood the pricetag being much higher than the other games, but like I said it doesn't. Plus the game's length is the same as the other games. So I don't understand it's pricetag.

I do not recommend this game. Instead, play this series' main games, along with other VR games.

If you like Rube Goldberg machines and you have a VR headset, then this game is a must play. Features a campaign that involves a series of puzzles you have to solve, the puzzles are open too so different people are going to have different ways of solving them. You can also make your own puzzles, share them online and play other peoples' puzzles. If you don't want to solve puzzles and just want to generally build Rube Goldberg machines, theres a sandbox mode where you can do exactly that, which you can also share online and try out other peoples' Rube Goldberg machines.

Amazing dungeon crawler RPG! This game is inspired by games like Dungeon Master and Eye of the Beholder, so if you're a fan of those games then you'll love Legend of Grimrock 2. Even if you never played those kinds of games before, you'll still really enjoy this as its a great game in general. I would even say that its the best game of this RPG subgenre.

Like the games this is inspired by, the movement is grid-based and you turn in 90-degree increments. Combat takes place in real time, it can often get intense, but its not an action-RPG. The world design is an example of open world done right as the world is concentrated and condensed, every space feels utilized, every area feels unique and lots of secrets hidden all over the place. The game is party-based with a party of four characters, they all move and stand next to each other so in a way it feels like you're only moving one character. It does matter how you position your characters, if an enemy is infront of you then they'll for the most part only attack the two characters positioned infront, an enemy behind you will attack both characters positioned behind, etc. The character and class customization is great, you're given plenty of options. The items and their stats aren't random or anything like that, they're pre-designed and found in specific spots throughout the world. The enemy variety is great. The game has lots of puzzles, they're all interesting, well made and satisfying to solve. Theres no friendly NPCs, quests or anything like that, its just you stranded on a dangerous island making your way around until you get to the final boss. The game doesn't hold your hand, theres hidden notes you can find that give clues but thats it. The atmosphere is great too.

This is a great example of a sequel thats a massive improvement over the first game while staying true to the original. If you want to skip the first game and go straight to this one, thats fine as this game's story isn't connected to the first game, so you won't be missing anything. But yeah, this game is amazing, I strongly recommend it.

This game is amazing, its one of the best Sonic games ever made, maybe even the best Sonic game of all time. This game understands what made the 16-bit era Sonic games great. The level design is great with each level having multiple branching paths that are interconnected and reward you for exploring, each level has unique mechanics and stuff, the momentum is great, the pacing is varied (sometimes you're going real fast, sometimes you slow it down a bit and do some platforming, etc.), the boss fights are good, the 3D bonus stages are good, the graphics and animations are great, the soundtrack is great, the animated opening cinematic is great, just everything is great. I strongly recommend this game.

Amazing game! The movement is tight and fluid, the weapons are interesting, brutal, fun and satisfying to use, the combat is great, every weapon is useful, the level design is fantastic and varied, the game is split up into seven unique episodes, the enemy variety is great (every episode in the game has its own unique set of enemies), the boss fights are great, the graphics are beautiful, and the soundtrack and sound design are really good. If you're looking for the ultimate challenge, then play the game on the evil difficulty (which is hidden in the difficulty select area) along with having warrior mode and auto soul mode enabled in the game's settings. I strongly recommend playing this game.
