It's a fantastic idea. GTA foil to the max. I gotta blast out of being a judgemental cop, pulling over sports cars.

Thumbs up, worth 30 bucks for me, although the endless car chases that go in circles get old.

Building things with the screwdriver is my favorite part, but playing with the voxel remover on npc body parts is real fun too.

I hope for more exploring.

In the beginning I was trying to be the nicest Indie ever. By the end I was a Raiders of the Lost Arc Indie that killed dozens of people and totally would've pushed a badguy into an airplane propeller.

This game has also been good early-access Stalker 2 therapy.

Buuuuuuut.... no to the boss fights. And oh boy no to the Voss-Boss Fight. ~12 go's or so after figuring out the rope swing battle, my hatred for Voss was defeated by my hatred for his boss fight.
Really I think this game would've been better without boss fights period, or give us an option to replace them with cutscenes.

This game has really good cutscenes.

Good game! but.....

A properly lovecraftian squid wouldn't leap out of the water and thwack you with a tentacle. It'd just drive you mad if you looked at it while it was indefinitely asleep.

"Regardless, the act of passing through the Veil is much more about changing one's perception than physical transition. The Veil is an idea, it is the act of transition itself, and it is only the fact that both living beings and spirits that find the transition difficult gives the Veil any credence as a physical barrier at all."

Literally 'science fiction/fantasy' right there.

You just don't get any more generic than this. I thought it'd be a fun vacation for ~ten bucks. I regret buying it for ~10 bucks. I really regret putting 48 hours into it . Generic as AAA boring powers can get (not all AAAs carry boring powers). I'll remember the hilarious homophobia the best, though. Main char is appropriately afraid of holding on to his male buddy while on the back of his male buddy's bike. His hands all behind himself grabbing to the very aft of the thing, keeping an appropriate minimum foot away from his body. I wish I could post a single screenshot.

There's a great King of the Hill episode where Hank tackles this same issue.

it gets a thumbs up because I have much respect for these courageous attempts. It's beautiful, great voice actors. I got goosebumps in the appropriate plot points. High brow sci-fi territory here, regardless of what its based on.
It just wasn't fun I'm afraid. It consists of trying to find the next spot where the plot wants you, Invisowalls up the wazoo. No puzzles (maybe one?) but I just got stuck in places simply because I didn't know where the map wanted me next.
So...it wasn't fun per se, but I am 100% behind the idea of using my favorite science fiction books as themes for video games! My dream would be 'The White Mountains' tripod simulator, or 'The Earth Abides' colony survival game.

Early Access Review
I always thought I'd have been a good detective. This game taught me that I wouldn't be, but I'm still absurdly addicted.
