I loved Doom 2016 specifically because it went back to its roots. I love Doom Eternal because it stuck to those roots while trying trying to branch out in new ways, some not for the best other very much so.

The not for the best but still good:
1. Ammo; yea it runs out faster. No its not hard to get it back. But it can be "repetitive". Chainnsawing for ammo is great. Just needs more animation variation. In the heat of battle it really doesn't detract from the intensity or fun.
2. Platforming; yea it could use a more thought out approach but really its not hard (to me) and it's only there between fights.

Things I'm mixed on:
1. Cutscenes; Maybe I'm in the minority but I want Doom lore. So cutscenes don't bug me as much. It does slow things down, but you can easily skip them to speed it back up . Demons invaded earth, you're stopping them, if that's all the story you need, just skip the cutscenes and you'll be happy.

Things I love:
1. Literally everything. The gunplay, the weapons, the dashing and double jumping, the portals that add to the movement and flow in arenas. Every aspect of shooting and killing demons is improved and amazing. Level design is amazing. Graphics are amazing. Performance is amazing.
2. You can customize the UI to show only what you want. You can turn off notifications and tool tips to show only want you want.

If you liked Doom 2016 you will enjoy this game!

Perfect game to easily boot up and get a few things done in a short amount of time while also having plenty to do if you wish to play for extended periods of time. The shooting mechanics are top notch and every gun feels unique to handle.

The only downside of this game is that it hasn't had the same amount of years as the other paradox games to add more content. EU4 came out in 2013 and has been pumping out expansions every year since then. This game will be no different.

If you enjoy paradox games, you will enjoy this one. If you are knew to paradox games you will have fun. And the game will only become more fun as updates and expansions come out.

Great potential, lacking key commands, controls and tools to properly manage your people. Only buy this game if you want to show support and can wait out more functions being implemented. I really love the concept and the focus on individual people, the management isn't a chore except for the inability to manage them closer and in more detail.

For example, I select one person to hunt a harmless animal, they kill the animal. Better hope they have a butchering tool equipped or they will just walk away from their kill. Then you better hope that a village member who has a butchering tool isn't doing another task or you will have to wait for one to finish their task before they make the (a lot of the time) far trek to get to that dead animal. There should be a command to force villagers to equip certain tools. But it's not there, they only equip things based off the jobs you have told them to do.

They will also not auto-switch to better tools. If you want them to upgrade then you have to wait for their poorer quality tool to break.

Other than that the game is great fun, It runs great, looks good and has zero bugs that I have noticed. Really reminds me of banished by on a smaller more personal scale.

Same game as cities XL with minor improvements. Huge disservice by devs.
IF you really have an itch to build some cities and dont own anything else then buy it.

Early Access Review
Needs more optimization but other than that I always enjoy my time playing. I am biased in that I always play with 2 of my brohters and dont have to pair up with randoms. At times the size of the map can mean few player interactions untill late game and this bugs some players. I enjoy it and if you land in certain spots you will always have action and excitement. So it depends on how you want to play.

-Haptic feedback feels like a broken vibration motor.
-Track pads are a pain to get used to.
-have to be in big picture mode, have to quit game and restart in order to pick up and start using the controller
-button layout is sub-optimal, have to reach for X and am hitting other buttons if in a rush

There is a lot to work on. Custom configuration is nice though.
