I love the video game version of lego

UPDATED my review to positive! They did it! They fixed the early game balance! The current beta goes a long way toward fixing my gripes, and I found myself playing for hours and having real fun.

TerraTech worlds is missing some of the magic of its predecessor, but it's bringing something new too.

This is as close as you're going to get to a good Star Trek video game. The vibes of this game are incredibly nostalgic, but also its UX is amazing. It's easy to control and understand, genuinely fun to learn, and a very good balance of silly vs spooky in mood. And it's DEEP. This game contains innumerable worlds and quests, a plethora of niche mechanics, and so, so much passion for the genre.

This game is so compelling I'm learning ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ vector math about it

This may not be the spiritual successor to No One Lives Forever that we wanted... but it's certainly the one we deserved. Meow meow.

I probably would have left this positive review at some point, since Nightmare Kart is an audiovisual delight with great gameplay and humor, buuuut I'm very forgetful so it might have taken a while.

Surprisingly relaxing for a game that is fundamentally about the eternal cycle of mutual consumption between the endlessly reincarnating player and the immortal shark hunting them. Also it's silly so that's nice.

One of the best modern doomclones to play, bar none. Looks great, feels great, sounds great, plays great. The roguelite elements work wonderfully with the level-based mechanics.

But I can't recommend this game to anyone. See, I'm crazy. My friends are crazy. Collectively, my social group has spent a lot of time in partial hospitalization programs, inpatient programs, counseling, and the like. I'm also a writer and narrative designer with serious opinions about the art form. NR's use of mental health as a cheap plot device completely ruined the fun for me and many of my friends, and to top it all off the writing is somehow worse than writing from the era of games it's meant to satirize.

It's a shame that I can't recommend a game that I find so hard to play, but mercifully the doomclone field has no dearth of worthy contenders. I'm gonna go check out Ultrakill.
