An insanely good video game worthy of your time. This game has the sauce.

At the same time, it falls just short of becoming something truly special. if you're familiar/decent at the genre, the game starts off extremely easy and only gets decently challenging towards Impossible + True Ending. I'm by no means an expert at this genre and I've won a large majority of Post Apocalypse runs, playing random character, without really knowing what's best. If the game could smooth off the top end of the mastery curve, we've got something truly special here.

Even with the concern, you'll still have a good time. It's a fun game to execute on. I just want the game to have an option to put a gun to my head.

The best elevator pitch I can say is, it's a 2D brawler with the turn system of Necrodancer (without the Rhythm) and the combat crunch of something like Into The Breach.

Day 1 starts off pretty easy, Day 4 is where it really gets good.

Good sets of challenges and unlocks to pursue.

Excellent hotkey setup means you can play one handed if you have to hold a sleeping child or pet, with either hand (I mostly used the mouse).

Would honestly love to see a mobile version if possible.

U15 has put this game very close to where I want to be. There's a lot of necessary polish still missing before 1.0, but when I gave my original highly critical review of the early access release, U15 is pretty close to where I was hoping Synthetik 2 would land.

At this point, once the game has gone 1.0, I'd love to see some DLC with more classes, guns, or perks if possible. The core foundation is quite good.

I think Synthetik 1 will remain a classic formula in some rights, but I do think Synthetik 2 stands alongside it and I'd probably prefer 2 now.
