disappointing that this version didn't go anywhere. completely dead servers - no one is online.

the stuff they created for Dark Seas should be brought to the main version of Puzzle Pirates - some how, some way. the PVP driven economy/balance of the world would be difficult to nearly impossible to push, but some aspects like the poker buy-in cap and the governor maintenance opportunities. idk. shame an already niche game has a dead cousin.

phenominal. themes, character designs motives and morals, music and setting, feelings of success when you realize you finally learn the clues you need to accomplish something. this is an incredible visual novel

the pixel art is so nostalgic. it's like my favourite chris sawyer tycoon games crossed with my favourite pixel dress up games. the artwork is fantastic, the consistent details you see throughout the years (items you carry through different homes, damaged and preserved all the same) feel so genuine. not a single thing feels like it was overlooked, much like how you feel when packing.

realizing that our protagonist is LGBT is really sweet, too. moving on from a bad relationship into something loving and sweet felt so relieving as a LGBT player. i made the most helpless cooing sounds when i realized they were having a baby together ;___;

the price tag isn't an issue for me. this is a game with so much heart. the love poured into this is genuine and wonderful. besides, money sucks. it's not witch beam's fault we have inflation.

it's a very chill, relaxing puzzle sim. i question the music choices, but i eventually just turned it off.

while i still recommend the game, it's kind of strange how each level progressively feels different from the last - while simulator games like these typically include new in-game tools only obtained through progression, too often it feels like new skills you obtain are quickly forgotten by the next stage.
for example: the japanese tea house and eastern russian wood cabin both use wood, and you'll likely unlock all wood based skills in the russian wood cabin level. however, none of the skills learned in the previous two levels (igloo and mud house) are ever used again. it's entirely possible i am incorrect as i have yet to reach the brick house level, but it does seem that previous skills are forgotten about upon progressing. while you can still revisit these locations, it feels like i'm meant to leave them behind as proof of my work. it would be nice to see updates allowing us to revisit locations and build similar houses (like igloos in northern canada, or more mud/sand huts in africa) but as it stands our previous work in game exists as basic level progression, rather than feeling like an accomplished architect.

by the japanese tea house level, the game feels entirely different from the first igloo level: suddenly, we're installing parts of the houses, rather than just clicking to install them. we're cutting wood and sculpting things differently. there's a *store* mechanic that opens up beyond spending excess skill points on decorations we leave behind. it feels like the longer the game goes on, the more polished it feels, but it doesn't feel like it's wholly completed. of course, it's still in early access, but i'd hope that the entire game receives the polish the later levels seem to try and carry.

the game is still fun. it's easy to zone out building. there are some typos in the english localization but it's likely that the translators were ESL so it's easy to let slide. i hope there are consistent updates to improve the stages.

it makes me so happy that it feels exactly like the original... the quality of life changes makes everything so much better and i really love it now that i actually know how to play video games and am not just giving honey to my favourite bachelor every day without growing crops lol
