It's basically FFVI. Lacks the post-game content of the GBA version, but the sole effort in the opera section makes up for it. The GBA content wasn't even that good >.<

Ok. It was fun.

This is an anti-lemmings game, in which you have to destroy all the robots in each puzzlestage.

The puzzles themselves aren't that good, there is generally a lot of ways to cheese them and I think quite a few of them have a lot of noise (in the sense that they can be solved trivially but there are still a lot of unused stuff). I'd say that's sloppy design but I actually like that. I think some alternative ways of solving the puzzles are actually by design and I kinda like it when you get different ways of solving a puzzle. Only, the puzzles themselves are too easy. Besides the noise and cheese, even when you solve it the intended way, it only takes at most one or two attempts to know how to solve them. I think this idea could be developed further, into a longer and more challenging game.

You also get introduced to new mechanics every now and then, which is both good and bad, but in particular the first puzzles after the first appearance of a mechanic are kind of tutorials so when that happens that's a free stage.

As an anti-lemmings game this one didn't meet my expectations, but as a puzzle game it was fun enough, and cheap enough for its length (1.35 usd price for me).

As an idea, the game is great, but I'd like to see it being developed further into a longer and more complete game. You can beat the game in one hour. It would also be interesting to play a randomized (rogue-like style) version of this game.

Thank you Derek for the fun time.

777 hours are a lucky number.

This is a really hard game, and very punishing, but it's also really nice. While it's hard the difficulty is adjusted by your objectives. Want to just beat the game? Good luck, it'll take a while but you'll do it reliably with some effort. Want to get the hard ending? It's reasonably harder, but you'll be ready for most of it once you have to do it. Want to get the special ending? Good Luck. That's all. It's a challenge ridiculously hard and long, but you'll enjoy the way.

Mostly what you'd expect for a "Metroidvania Roguelike". For a game with the "Metroidvania" tag, it's not completely what you'd expect, since there is no backtracking at all, at least in the common sense of the word. It's replaced by the fact that when you die you can choose a completely different route once you unlock the platforming skills. In a sense that can be backtracking.

The difficulty increase from getting the boss cells can also be an interesting challenge. Beating the game for the first time may not take a lot, but once you're trying to beat the game at the max difficulty and look back at that time when you spent all your health flasks in a single level and avoided all curses, it's very fulfilling.

The game flows well, it's very enjoyable, and the only thing I don't (didn't) like was not being able to create my own characters. At the end, this has its own charm, being able to know about the background of them.

There is an issue, not a really bad one and I don't dislike it, but I'm playing in extreme difficulty, given as a challenge for XCOM veterans, but I don't feel that challenge. I mean, there are just a few missions I've had to restart (And not really that I had, just that it got very bad that I wanted so bad to do it, however I could still complete them) and some times that me being careless made me fail a mission objective, but after you get used to the changes and that combats go a lot faster here, it gets very easy. City Anarchy is still at 0 too.

My only idea to make it harder is to activate Ironman or going into Impossible. And I think I should have activated ironman since you only get to restart the mission if you fail it. Impossible, I think that'd be after I beat it.

I mean, when playing XCOM I usually go for Classic because it´s a nice challenge that doesn´t get too bad. In this case I think the difficulty I´m looking for is right between Extreme and Impossible.

Overall, my expectatives for this game didn't have time to build up (since the game just appeared with a discount and I bought it), but it's indeed much better than expected. I really like it.

It's a beautiful game.

I think you don't have to worry about this one being a very hard platformer, which gets progressively harder with your advances. If you're really not used to platformers like this, there is a mode which allows you to get used little by little, while enjoying the soundtrack, the story, and the main character's fears.

If you play this, the chances are you're gonna die a lot, because there are some places where the controls have to be very precise. However, compared to other hard platformers where you die a lot, in general this is a lot more enjoyable. The soundtrack is very beautiful and helps a lot in these cases, so you can be more patient and won't get too frustrated. I found out that I didn't like the sound theme of some b-sides, and those were the ones which made me suffer more. But the joy of beating each escalating challenge is priceless.

If you are patient enough to play it without the help the game offers (You don't have to be good, I consider myself bad at plarformers, and I have getting better), this game will be hard, but very accomplishing.

The new chapter released this year, chapter 9, seems to be hard enough: It's very long, and if you have done the C-sides you'll sooner or later be using the tricks learned there to make it easier. But then they'll be required, giving you a completely spaghetti-proof tutorial for them. It's really interesting how a tutorial can make the hyperdash easier.

Anyway, you should give it a chance. I don't think you'll regret it.
