countering the review bombs:

this game is a genuinely solid, fully fleshed out product in an era where this is rare for AAA fighting games (and this is technically an indie/doujin circle release.)

+variety of single player content, including Boss Rush
+quality online play with good rollback netcode, ranked and casual matchmaking
+good training mode (really only missing frame data and hitbox viewer)
+a developer that listens to the fanbase, frequently tweaking or course-correcting on major patches within days or weeks after distro
+comprehensive patch notes that basically buff every character and overhaul the whole game- each patch has only improved the quality of the game's meta and mechanics
+two seasons' worth of free DLC characters and additional aesthetic content, in an era where paid full-priced purchases still charge for post-launch season passes and live-service games still charge for battle passes or make grinding for content a chore
+feels good to play! stays close enough to classic MBAACC's game-feel while mixing in new mechanics like Moon Drive and Shield.
+looks very stylish for a modern 2D pixel fighter and has an excellent audio presentation

minor nitpicks include lack of all-play/FFA lobbies and, as previously mentioned, no hitbox/frame data viewer in training mode. lack of crossplay is also a big issue for a multi-platform fighting game, but that's probably outside of French Bread's scope. otherwise this is probably one of the best fighting games of the current era of the genre.
