NMRIH was special because of how closely it stuck to George Romeo's vision and applied it to the medium of video games. It was soul-crushingly miserable and your character's situation was for the most part hopeless. The fact that this game launched with no suicide mechanic, no zombie children, a weak set of maps, and some of the worst game-breaking bugs showcases something that has been obvious for the last 5 years.

Torn Banner Studios is a lot like an Khmer Rouge soldier. They take other people's children (unique game ip's) and bash them against a tree until all that's left is a mangled corpse. Of course though, at least Khmer Rouge soldiers had the decency to despose of the body afterwards. Torn Banner, on the other hand, takes the mutilated corpse and sells it for 30 AUD.

Disgraceful work, why would you pay $30 for a worse version of a free game?

If you're interested in the multiplayer component of the game, know that it's semifunctional as of 2024.

For some godforsaken reason, WATCH_DOGS' steam version doesn't have the Ubisoft Licenses for multiplayer installed initially. You can either request this from Ubisoft support or purchase the Ubisoft Connect version by any means (Ubisoft+, the Connect Page, Greyhat Market Sites like G2A).

Overall, a genuinely fun little hacking-inspired GTA clone that got massively overlooked because of a deeply misleading E3 demo graphical fidelity. 8.2/10

A fantastic game undercut by the fact that the developer has the maturity of a 12-year old with ragehacks. The genuine palpable tension and horror presented by WTTG and its sequels/offshoots (Scrutinized, Dead Signal) are genuinely impressive from such a small indie developer. Unfortunately, Adam (the lead dev) doesn't take kindly to criticism or mods from a community that (used to, at least) respect him and wanted to create content for the game. His "anti-speedrunner" fixes often end up actually hurting random players by essentially ruining games if you accidentally clip into something (Incredibly easy to do btw). It's stuff like this that makes me wish there was a "Great game, but don't support this behavior" or even a "Mixed" option.

Adam, if you read this and only take away one thing from this, take away this; Don't bite the hand that feeds you. People were excited to see new developments of mods and people were making those mods because they loved what you made. What you've done is just spitting in the face of the community for DARING to want to add more on.

Devoid of Soul, Grindy, Generic, and Overpriced?

Gee, what a good game. Save your sanity and buy the four other good games in this series (1,2,OTR,3)

Even at $7.49 at the time of this review, still a ripoff.

Keep in mind, all of what I'm mentioning is about the editor. The story and game itself are fine and are pretty good.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ THIS THING ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ SUCKS TO USE.

Now that I have that out of the way, allow me to explain why the HM2 level editor is one of the most painful things a human can use.

The editor corrupts and crashes more than any other software I've ever used. You'll make a minor change in notepad++ or add a patchwad and unless you're very lucky the game will ♥♥♥♥ itself. It won't just not work, it'll corrupt EVERYTHING. What's that? You spent the last 3 hours carefully fiddling around in this incompetent editor? Well sorry, ♥♥♥♥-face, you accidentally overlayed one wall tile over another, causing a collision issue, enjoy your level becoming utterly unfixable unless you painstakingly remake it and ensure that you don't do that one minute thing wrong. Nothing comes for granted in this software and every level is a game of crash roulette. SFM with 135 GBs of addons didn't ♥♥♥♥ the bed this bad and that was a animation software running on an engine from 2004.

Rest in peace, fat texan boye. You'll be missed. All the good times we've had together, with you camping me on the hook. I'll miss you, bud. I pray that in your next life, Gun Media doesn't drop the ball like they did with a certain Voorhees.
