A super interesting take on RPG survival genre. I really love what they're doing. A blast to play with a friend.

I really wanna like this game. I picked it up because I like the developers, I like the idea, etc. It just feels like it's an early access game. Some people say that's just its indie budget showing, but there is a genuine lack of polish. It feels bare. The mechanics aren't fleshed out as much as I'd like. Maybe I didn't give it enough time to play, but it was not worth it, in my opinion.

The horde of aliens doesn't feel like a horde. This is due to their very basic animations and pathfinding, and they are completely silent besides the special aliens. In a zombie-type game, you want to really feel the horde. You don't in this game. The special infected don't even really feel all that meaty or significant. Very barebones and lack of actual art.

Killing zombies is what you'll be doing most of the time in a zombie game, so that has to feel good. But it doesn't in this game. The ragdolls have almost nothing to do with how you shoot them. There is very little, if any, impact FX. There seems to be no death animations. No dismemberment. No staggering. Nothing besides shooting a zombie till its dead, and it then falls mostly limp to the floor, sometimes clipping and glitching out.

And while in other games, there's much more to break up killing/shooting zombies, this game has you exclusively fighting. Almost all the time. Just walking down random hallways, with poorly triggered voice lines sometimes cutting it and being swiftly interrupted by random barks. Speaking of...

The voice acting is flat and seems like a first draft. The voice lines are sometimes approaching something meaningful and approaches character building, but it isn't done at all good compared to any other game in this genre, especially modern ones. The cutscenes don't help either. They're very dry, short and don't do much to advance the world or characters. There's very, very little lines where I could say that line was unique to that character. Most of the lines said by one person could be said by any of the cast. That's a bad sign for a game like this.

So in short, this game is just not finished, and I doubt it ever will be. The developers seem like they're losing interest and seeing this as mostly a lost cause. I hope they prove me wrong but there's only like 50% of the game here. It's not fun at the moment and really needs lots of work. And I would so much enjoy if they did take this review to heart, which I know they would if they could, but I just worry that the lack of resources, interest, and the mounting work might make this game largely the same as it is now, even with a few more updates.

A powerful mix of MMORPG gameplay elements like dungeons, guilds, trials, leveling and more, with the great world building, lore and quests of Elder Scrolls. Truly worthy of a try to hold you over for ES6 and then some.

Fallout 76 is really what you make of it. It is a solid singleplayer and multiplayer game where you can enjoy the game how you want it. It can be a really beautiful, calming experience, and an action-packed, thrilling experience. I love wandering the wasteland, doing a mix of quests, exploration and everything in between. The game seems to have improved a lot but it still has its bad reputation. I say give it a try!

Also, this is the first Bethesda game I know of where you can play with your friends without using a buggy mod (no offense to those mods, it's just the nature of how things have to be done when its not built in)!

This game really scratches an itch that no other game can. The MMO FPS combat experience happens at such scale and yet is so accessible that it's an experience you don't want to be left out of trying.
