If you're reading this and you haven't played the first game (Innocence), then please play that game first.

I haven't felt so lost in dark hopelessness, since I played Soma. Now finishing Requiem...I am back in that void once more. A land without light, happiness and hope. Requiem is so dark, so so dark. Believe me if you are suffering any kind of melancholy, do not play this game. It is easily the bleakest, heart breaking game I have ever played.

This is not to say it is not also beautiful. I have read other reviews of this game, saying it's not as good as the first. To me that's like comparing apples and oranges. This is a different animal than the first. Yes, it's a stealth game, but there are also chapters with combat challenges and some chapters that are dedicated to the story of the mystery that is Hugo, Amicia and the Macula. The game isn't as tightly bound or neat as the first. It feels messy and chaotic. And so it should be. The plague is growing and feeding insatiably on the living, a tidal wave of destruction, unstoppable and merciless. So yes, the game is more scattered and jumbled, for the fabric of life is unravelling.

Personally I do believe this game is just as much a masterpiece as the first. It is longer than Innocence and has moments of
peace and quiet that could be labelled as boring to some. But those moments are there to remind the gamer of the paradise lost, the fall, the futility of hope. We cannot have light without shadow, nor shadow without light. In this sense the game is perfectly balanced.

The tiny grievances I have; is the game isn't very keyboard friendly at times. And Sophia was kind of a forgettable character, which was surprising given how well crafted every other character in both games were written and sculpted. That's about all.

I loved the first game and I love this one equally. I look forward to a 3rd installment. ;)

Achievement Hunters: Play the game thru to unlock all Chapter Achievements. With a guide you can probably do all the other achievements in the first playthru except the last three passive skill achievements.(which will take another half playthru on NG+) You can do this all on the easiest setting, so fairly easy to beat, if you have maybe 20-30 hours to spare.) Personally I chose to just enjoy the game (first play thru) without grinding achievements, then go back and remainder achievements in chapter select, which unlocks when finishing the game.)

Bravo! Encore ! Encore!
The crowd stands to their feet clapping and cheering. What amazing theatre ! Take a bow, team Dontnod. Well done.

Such a powerful story, so detailed and nuanced. The expressions of the characters, so well thought out, so appropriate, speaking volumes more than words. And each character, so interesting, tiny cosmic universes, all passing like ships in the night, each helping to shape the wolf brothers as Sean and Daniel hurtle (often helplessly) to their inevitable final decision. And what a finale it was! Absolutely edge-of-your-seat immersion.

By far my most favourite game played to date.

Achievement Hunters: Like the first Life is Strange, this one is easy to beat. Just Play the game from start to finish and return to the chapters to mop up any you missed in Collectable Mode.

This is a spin-off to the Life is Strange 2 game. It will be recommended to you at the beginning of Chapter 2. I think it is well worth playing, but the choice is ultimately yours (it's free btw).

What I love about Chris, the young protagonist of "The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit" is his unshakeable hope and enthusiasm. He is a young boy vibrant with imagination and energy. And for this reason I wish him all the best in his life ahead.

If the universe of Life is Strange is about awakening super powers in ordinary everyday youth, I think Chris may become the most powerful hero of them all.

I look forward to meeting him again up the road somewhere in Life is Strange 2.

I played the free 1st Chapter a long time ago and wasn't very impressed. I assumed that the game was a teeny high school drama (not my taste); I found Chloe annoying and Max as colorless as her fashion. So I did not bother to buy the extra chapters and left the game in the backlog for a number of years.

That was my mistake and a big one.

So recently I decided to dive back in, buy all the Chapters and see what the hype is about. And as it turns out the game is just as brilliantly magnificent as the Reviews gush. I think I was really immersed and hooked at the end of Chapter 3 and from then on the story just became richer and better with each minute of progression. 11/10.

Buy it on sale or not. Just buy it.

Achievement Hunters: This is an easy one to beat. You can do it in one play thru with a guide, though it may spoil the story. Or you can return to chapters and finish the achievements off once you are done. It took me around 15 hours and well worth the time.

A mindlessly violent game about going postal, with the end goal of nuking the city.

Not much more too it. Maniac is fast food gaming. Not much nutrition, easy to consume.

Achievement Hunters: Super super grindy, not recommended unless you have a lot of hours and not much brain cells.
Although there is an Editor mode that can shortcut you to 100% much quicker than playing the actual game. For example Destroying 100000 cars (which is perhaps the final) achievement is an epic grind of around 40 hours (in game without the Editor. ) So Editor is recommended, just not as fun.

I enjoyed this game. I like top down shooters. And it's not nearly as hard to finish as many on the market (eg Miami Hotline). The chapters are short and simple. The gun play is cool, as in you have to c o c k weapons before shooting and load quickly between heated exchanges. The timing of cocking and loading is often critical, which makes the game a little more strategic at times and stealth is also important to consider.

The back story has a gritty, grim vibe, there is no good and evil, just various powerful factions carving up America with blood and gunpowder. The antihero is gallow-humored and jaded, his one liners are dark and funny. I imagine some people might find the story not to their taste.

Try it if you like this sort of thing. Buy full price or on sale.

Achievement Hunters: reasonably easy to 100% in 6 hours or so.

The only way this "game" could be more pretentious, boring and lazy is if Willem Dafoe appeared as the Lighthouse Keeper.

The beautiful scenary could have been better used to make an excellent Skyrim-type game, but instead the creators decided to make a snobby suicide sim.....with devs celebrating their lack of genius in recorded notes you must listen to; so as to unlock an achievement.

As an Achievement Hunter, I feel dirty finishing this game. What have I become?

It's a mindless zen kinda game.

For many people this game would get boring very fast, however for me I find it a quiet focus while I'm thinking about other things. Kinda like rolling prayer beads thru the fingers, or chewing gum, or throwing a tennis ball over and over against a wall. The game is simple and grindy, can be played easy by repeating levels over and over to buy weapons, armour and skills. Or hardcore, by shooting and dodging thru each level with bare minimum gear..... And it can be easily played with the sound off (while you are socialising on discord or whatever.)

Don't expect to much for the price. It's just a basic side scroll shooter with a cute cat. So if you don't like to zen while gaming, this isn't for you. Buy on sale maybe....

I'm not sure if this game should be classified as a survival horror, it is more of a walking simulator, like a ghost train kinda thing, where you roll along and scary things happen. It's fun though, I love the Jurassic Park feel. The graphics are kinda simple, but the sound effects and mood music are on point. It would be a good game to play for children maybe.

I did get legitimately scared for two jump scares.

The game flows well and is super easy to beat. Not sure if I would pay full price for Oakwood, buy on sale maybe.

For Achievement Hunters: I completed 100% this game in 2 hours, using a guide for collecting totems (as they are really, really tiny, good luck finding them without a guide.) The great thing is once you finish the game you can go back and redo chapters where you may have missed totems, so you don't have to do a whole second playthru.

I have only played two hours or so of the game and I'm already loathing it. I have a strong respect for the Resident Evil game title and all the cool things it has done for the survival horror genre, but respect doesn't mean I have to actually like the original game itself.....it just doesn't flow well with me.

I know many gamers hate the janky controls and weird camera angles in-game, but I did get use to them after 15 minutes or so. What got me was the wandering about looking aimlessly for items to open doors; to continue the journey. Walking backwards and forwards between rooms and load screens really got old fast. Finding an arrow and not knowing I could disassemble it to move the story on was frustrating. I don't like having to resort to guides over small stupid issues that completely stall game progress.

I might retry this game another time and re-post a review, but prob not.
