The trailers actually do show you exactly what you're getting in this case: a game where the enemies hurl themselves brainlessly at you and you can sit in a doorway or a tight corridor and horde shooter them. For a game invoking Half Life, it failed at pacing itself and the AI isn't anywhere near that quality. Appreciate the effort and it looks really pretty, but the game play is very stagnant and repetitive.

I've reached almost top 200 on Easy (I'm at 141.8mill, top 200 starts at time of writing at 142.1mill) and finished normal with 108%. I'm still working through the tougher difficulties. What's great about this game is how it scales with your skill. At first you're just surviving, then the score mechanic kicks in and you start getting into the zone. I don't know if this game has hundreds of hours of life in it, but I do know it's worth it for score runners looking for a new challenge in Steam's library of shmups. Solid art, good tracks, the voices are fun, and the gameplay is top notch.

The trailer pretty much is the game, and it's as fun as that looks. Works great on deck. Easy and fun combos.

I can already tell this is a modern classic. If you're a fan of Sonic-style platformers, you will not regret this purchase.

FROM could have said "here is a playable remaster of all of the old armored core games but on PC". They could have kept the same old clunky control scheme, divvied the collection up into two or three parts, charging whatever they wanted and I'd have said "Thank you for reviving this franchise."

This is THE mecha game. We can quibble over which stats did or didn't make it, whether bosses fit the "mood of AC" or whatever, but the core game loop of Sortie->Build->Sortie->Paint->Sortie->Build is still in tact. This is faster paced and a bit harder than the old versions, which scaled better in difficulty as time went on.

FROM: please hire someone who can make better menus though. The menus here are very unintuitive.

Buy it or don't, hope my review helped.

I went all in on the DLC and regretted it a bit. I don't play the tabletop game, I only read the lore and play Total War. I wanted this because so many say it's like the tabletop.

If you don't know how a certain faction should be played, there's a bit of a learning curve with no campaign to support learning. There is info in game on stats and stuff + the internet is always useful, but even a short primer mission/scenario for each race would help solidify how they should be played to a newcomer. Thankfully, 10-15 minutes of playing before you realize you're about to get swept isn't THAT bad, but it piles up as you try new races.

The campaign also really forces you into objectives as enemies seem to spawn endlessly.

Overall, I do recommend it and feel this game does for Warhammer what Battletech did for its tabletop game. It does have some flaws though.

Don't want to play online and get bodied? There's a whole world tour mode with lots of content to explore. You can make the most broken monstrosity possible and own everything you come across. Want to live in the lab? This training mode has so many options it will blow your mind. Want to fight online? Ranked actually doesn't suck, the netcode is mostly good, and every character has their own rank.

The dumb button (Drive Impact) is very frustrating when it happens to you and very satisfying when you pull it off. But IMO it's not different from every other mechanic SF introduces. Wake super has been a thing since forever.

They've really thought of just about everything with this release. Well done, Capcom.

If Tarkov was fun. It's not why you play Tarkov. It's why you play Hunt.

Not sure I can say much that hasn't already been said. Game had a rocky launch, and it's still got some bugs in it. But overall, CDPR did manage to turn this around and it's a much more interesting and "alive" game than when it launched. The voice acting is so engaging and the writing is always CDPR top notch. You care about these people and places.

Early Access Review
A very decent HOMM like that never feels like it's doing much we haven't seen before. If you like the graphics and crave more HOMM, it's good enough.
