Sputter cough and blooded breath, sickness scuttles inside her chest.
A slice from you so close to heart, vanquished ills will soon depart.
The seed you sow, the heart you reap, can only flower from your sleep.
As you leave so unperturbed. Eyelids flutter! Your daughter stirs!
No need to linger little totem, heed the words we all have spoken!
Light and dark alone can’t last. Through thirsty shadow a sun must cast.
Of endless new and timeless old, we must let go these things we hold.
A never-ending, a folding ocean, depth unknown, a child's devotion.
As blankets sheet, find your rest, the life you sire is truly blessed.
(Part 2)
A daughter’s sleep, a wish to wake. A door of light, her place to take.
Your sacrifice, a selfless plight. To catch her breath is way you fight.
A child so fragile with bone of clay. A father’s soul proposed a trade
Rib for rib and lung for lung, an even trade. Old for young.
And in your passing a weight is lifted, with nothing cured but only shifted.
