Intro
If you're like me, you jumped head-first into the game all excited. Then, without warning, your lumber shack stopped at 95% and you quickly grew frustrated. If you are not like me, and this is not the case (maybe you read the tutorial more closely or are just smarter than me), then don't bother reading on.

Harvesting requires 3 basic steps, given you have already placed the appropriate structure. For this guide, we will use the Lumber Shack.
Step 1: Allocating Workers
Once you have placed your Lumber Shack, select it. In the top right corner of the structure window, you will see something like this:

Your numbers will not be the same, but the important part is the 5 in the 5/20. That means I have 5 people allocated as lumberjacks. I won't cover balancing your workers in this guide, for now just set this to 5. This means you have 5 villagers dedicated to gathering wood. Unfortunately, they are not smart enough to start on their own...
Step 2: "Resource Management"
Don't let the term "Resource Management" scare you. In this step, we are simply telling our lumberjacks how much wood we want them to gather.

With the Lumber Shack still selected, on the left side of the screen you should see a Resource Management window. It should have 1 row with a little wood icon on the left.

Again, your numbers will be different. Don't worry about it.

There are two important controls here. One is "Make" and one is "Maintain". By setting Make, your Lumberjacks will gather that many peices of wood then stop. By setting Maintain, they will try to keep that many peices in your Lumber Shack or storeyard. Try setting Maintain to 20 or so.

Still, our little morons are not smart enough to go get the wood...
Step 3: Tell Them Where To Gather
This is the part you may have missed (I did). Or maybe you didn't. Good for you. Why are you still reading?

After we have established our workers and told them how much to gather, now we need to tell them WHERE to gather.

In the bottom left of your screen, you will see your gathering tools. Yours may not all be unlocked yet, that's okay. We're only concerned with the first two icons.

The left most tool is the "Brush Size". This will make sense once you use it. Leave this at the default (4, I think). Now click the next tool over, which is "Harvest Wood". Once activated, you can now select some trees for your Lumberjacks to harvest. This is done with a sort of "painting" action to allow you to select lots of area quickly, especially if you choose a larger brush size.

Once you have selected an area, you should have something that looks similar to this:

If you make a mistake and would like to cancel an order to gather at a specific point, you can hover over it with your brush and push 'X' on your keyboard. (Thanks Tiberiumkyle!)

Congratulations! Your people should be gathering wood now. If not, sorry, I'm terrible at this game and have no idea what I'm doing.
Bonus: Do It For Them!
If you're really in a pinch, you can use one of your God abilities to gather some wood (or other resources) for your idiots-I mean, villagers.

All your God abilities are at the top. The keyboard shortcut is the Grave accent[www.wikiwand.com] ( ` ), sometimes known as "back-tick".

Once you click on that to activate it, you can then click on a Tree to grab some wood. Click again to drop the wood onto a building, or on the ground in the hopes that a moron will grab it. Keep in mind, your divine favor (energy) ticks down while you are holding the wood, so move that cursor fast!

Since lumberjacks are too stupid to pick up logs they cut if you don't have a storage point, it results in logs staying on the ground, and when there is finally space, they don't bother to pick it up and deliver it, nope, they need a organizer to do that for them.

Thank you. Your effects are appreciated. Good-to-know stuff. The TILDE is the upper (shift usage) key that most gamers refer to, even thou we are actually usually using the GRAVE (aka ACCENT) key. Typo's? Really? Who cares?? Thanks for the help. Happy Gaming.:steamhappy:

ok, so here's a follow up question which keeps bugging me. Once the villagers have chopped down a tree and have the wood, where do they bring it? Are they going to bring it to the nearest drop site (i.e., either a stockpile or lumbershack), or do they always bring it to a lumbershack? Does the same go for stone and crystals too?
