Extracting Starbound's Instrument Files
If you are bad with computers, read all of the instructions. If you are more tech-savvy, you can skim by reading mostly just the numbered steps. If you are really confused about the whole thing, I can make a video tutorial as well.

● 1: Open Command Prompt
Push the Windows key and R at the same time. In the opened RUN window, type in CMD and push enter.
● 2: Navigate to the Starbound directory
If you don't know where your Starbound is installed, you can find it by right-clicking the game in Steam, going to properties, clicking the 'Local files' tab, then pushing the 'Browse Local files...' button.

By default, the game is installed to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Starbound\
If you don't know how to get there in CMD, refer the "How to navigate between folders"[www.digitalcitizen.life] section of this webpage or leave a comment below.

Once you have navigated to the Starbound directory, go to the win32 directory (regardless if you are x32 or x64). Your window should look something like this (note that I do not have Starbound installed to the default location)

● 3: Run the unpacker
Type/paste this in CMD (Ensure you are in the ..\Starbound\win32\ directory):
asset_unpacker.exe ..\assets\packed.pak C:\assets

Push enter. It will start unpacking the game's files on the root of your C drive.

NOTE: This will take some time, especially on low-end systems. If it looks to be frozen just leave it be and wait.

● 4: Get the instrument samples
In explorer, go to C:\assets. Open the SFX folder, then copy the instruments folder. Paste this wherever you want (like your music folder). Now delete the the assets folder since you don't need it anymore (C:\assets)

All the samples are stored in each instrument's respective folder, in OGG format. Rytmik should be able to read these natively.

If you don't know how to actually use custom samples in Rytmik Studio, continue reading.
Using Custom Samples in Rytmik Studio
● Open Rytmik Studio
● Open the Clip Editor
● Push the most top-left button (INST TYPE)
● Select a "USER X" button on the right side of the screen
● Select a number
● Push "Import Sample" at the bottom
● In the new opened window, find the sound file for the sample you want.

One last final note...
Starbound's samples are in A

Fair enough. I'll probably just make a discussion and see what others say. Thanks for the guide though!

I won't have any idea as I never used custom samples much since they don't work on the cloud

When I upload the sounds to Rytmik and close it when I save a project with them, the next time I open them they sound a bit decompressed or sometimes I have to re-upload them. Is there a way I can fix that or is that just how it is?

Ah! I see. Thanks!

It's a game that lets people use instruments to play custom midi-like notation in-game. This tutorial is for getting those instruments

I don't know what Starbound is, but thanks!
