First Safe Zone in Area 1: There is a 1/3 chance (only occurs once) that Brad will get decreased Max SP and Luck.
Oddly enough, as confirmed by others, the Area 1/2 Transition campsite actually has a flat zero chance of any events happening much like a safe rest spot. This is because the boss of that Transition is a nasty fight.
You actually can give Joy Mutants "Pissed" using Terry's Verbal Bash and stun using Brad's Headbutt. Both are very viable options.
If not playing on Pain Mode (or playing with the QoL mod that allows for Crossroads crows not to explode) then you can "Save Scum" the Roulette. This means you go 1-2 rouletters, save, and reset the game if your party member dies.
Wally's 3rd phase grants him Neck Break which is a permakill move. Other notable fights with permakills that are NOT Joy Mutants are Buffalo Van Dyke, Hawk Hollywood (Non-Pain), and a few later human bosses.
That is kind of what I have been talking of most of the time in this guide, joy monsters. I also recommended using Nern or Garth to deal with them since they can stun them and/or make their perma-kills unusable.
I know, I mentioned Buzzo a lot who is an anecdote since depending on how you play, you won't ever have issues with him, but I felt like the guide would be incomplete without pointing out all the ways you could accidentally kill your party members. I wanted to be as informative as possible.
