Play through the game until you get to the second town and achieving a certain level and accessories.
This is important, because you basically need to buy the DX weapon from the 2nd town, you can opt for weapons for the 3rd town if you are not using Karna's throwing knives.

You will want to basically reach lv20+ roughly, or attain about 140 Str stat or more, either from buying and equipping better gear, or using consumables that buffs you, or reinforcing the gear to give you the highest raw attacks.

You can achieve high STR early with Duran but his attack animations is too slow to hit a monster that's needed to be killed to farm EXP and Gold. Karna and Adol (but basically any character once you reach late game portions of the map) basically works for this early on.

If you achieve the attack power and as a option, attain skills that lets you hit fast and far, you can find this monster in the Forest of Dawn.

To find this monster you go to the 2nd blue monument on the map, basically you will definitely come across it on the map icon since the location of the Golden Pikkard spawns exactly where the 'Forest Cave' icon is, and it's the biggest icon near the blue monument. You can pin it and that spot on the minimap in that location will be the monster's spawn point, it randomly spawns each time you enter the map or...

You could save and load the game at that exact spot to reset the entire map and respawn everything!

Don't mind the monster's atk and defense, it actually does not attack, only flees from you, and it's defense stats being that high means you only do 0 damage up until you reach 141 STR, of which you start dealing 1 damage or higher (more is better). Because of how fast the Golden Pikkard runs, you need to have quick attacks that can hit it with a large and quick area of effect. You can also opt to trap the animal in several spots on the map, though a bit harder and random to do.

Farming the monster is necessary later on when you get to the mid-late game portion of the map, you have to equip everyone with new gear which jumps up in STR and Def scaling quite well...

At the 5th town you go to, the weapons are at around ~15,000 gold each.
Not to mention the cost of refining those equipment starts to add up once you try to max out +9 stat to each effect on the weapon!

*** Do note that if you spam skills on the monster, and kill it, sometimes you end up learning new skills if you haven't, and is a good way to level up your skills (make sure to equip Warrior Seal 1~3 to shorten skill leveing drastically) ***

If you use a flash guard during a big attack by a enemy you can spam it rapidly over time and infinitely since enemy attacks either moves so slow or stops in it's tracks, that you can reactivate it.

This gives your allies a infinite amount of time to beat on the monster(s) or boss(es).

As a note, these guys tend to spawn at night. I have no idea how you found them during the day, that must be incredibly rare.
Also the lake temple area is much better for farming gold, as titanic bones sell for 1k each, and you can get like 1-2 from each monster in the zone.

To add to your process, use a character that has a cheap attack (10 SP) that pulls enemies in.
I find the best for this is Calilica's Gravity Sphere. I really only started farming this thing once I needed the Rune set for 20k+ per piece.

Either way, equip Calilica with your best Skill Ring to decrease the SP cost, and the Golden Axe to increase gold dropped. Make sure your SP meter is full before attacking, then just spam Gravity Sphere. Gravity Sphere damages the golden pikkard while holding it in place so that your other two party members can beat on it until it dies. Refill your SP meter on nearby monsters, stand where the pikkard spawns, save, spam load until it appears, repeat the process. I did this in the Sunlit Ruins which have low level scorpions to beat on to get your SP back.

Sunlit ruins basically, not hard to come by if you unravel the map where the aqua blue monument area is in the forest of dawn.

I found a new location where a golden pikkard always spawns, it's a hidden ruin area around the middle of the map.

A technique I can use after I've gotten even stronger (lv30 and 175+ Str) to farm gold and get skills and exp off of this monster, is to stand near those projectile throwing enemies and do a Flash Dodge, making sure the Golden Pikkard is near you. The moment you do this, every single monster in the game freezes, giving you 3-5 seconds to wail on the monster to death.

Quite often the monster gets stuck on ores that are near the edge of the map's boundary, as the AI cannot tell that it's blocked by another object. Later in the game, attacks that 'push' or 'pull' enemies via gravitational effects, works on the Golden Pikkard.

And this farming method, plus any other methods of grinding would be necessary if pursuing Nightmare mode... You need to overlevel to make things easier on the higher difficulty modes.

The starter town you are at sells two rare material items for 100k and 1 million gold each, adding +1 to all stats for the cheaper one, and +9 to all stats for the most expensive one!

Meaning if you kill the Golden Pikkard 100 times, you can buy that... But putting these stats on the weaker starter weapons isn't advisable since stronger weapons comes by very often, as does stronger materials as you progress through the game.
