Welcome
Hello player!

This is only my second guide, so please do leave comments with helpful tips or with any information I may have missed or got incorrect.

Thanks for your patience and your help!

Overview
As new DLCs come out, the achievement list expands and you do need the most recent DLC in order to get 100% of achievements. Each achievement will name what version of the game it is obtainable in, and of course anything achievable in the base game can be done in the DLCs too.

Apr 2018 - Train Valley 2 Base Game, 50 dev levels
Oct 2019 - Passenger Flow DLC, 20 dev levels (introduces lettered stations A, B, C, etc)
May 2022 - Myths and Rails DLC, 20 dev levels (introduces deconstruction stations)
Apr 2023 - Editor's Bulletin DLC, 30 levels (community created, dev polished)
Mar 2024 - Patent Pending DLC, 20 dev levels (introduces inhibitors and different level goals)

Community Level Bundles
These DLC are all originally created by the community in Steam Workshop, they were then taken by the devs and edited to work out any rough edges. You need these to get the gem achievements.
Sep 2022 - Workshop Gems - Ruby 50 levels
Nov 2022 - Workshop Gems - Emerald 50 levels
Dec 2022 - Workshop Gems - Sapphire 58 levels

Finding an Achievement
If you want to look up a specific achievement, I don't recommend trying to guess which of my arbitrary organisational sections it might be in. Hit Ctrl F on a PC or Command F on a Mac. This will bring up a handy little search bar in one of the corners and you can search for the achievement name you want to look up.

Updated
I'm currently working my way through the new DLC, Patent Pending, so you should see some new updates soon here in 2024.
Timing
At the Last Moment!
Get 5 stars having the last train delivered within 5 seconds before the end of the timer.
Play the level to earn five stars. At some point during the level, you need to take note of how long it takes a train of completed goods to reach the destination city. Lets say that your timed cargo is wood planks.

Now, with knowing how long it takes from the time you push the "send wood planks train" button to the moment you get the ding! noise when it is delivered, add three seconds. Take the time of the third (shortest) time star and subtract your seconds. When the clock hits that time, hit that send button quickly!

On level 1 I got 21 seconds for my wood planks train. So you'd need to hit the send button for your last train of planks at 4:36.
On level 2 I got 21 seconds for the sand train and 29 seconds for the cow train. You'd need to pick which resource you're going to send last. For the sand you'd need to send it at 7:06 and for the cows you'd want to hit send at 6:58.
These were all calculated with trains that had 2 cars (fully loaded).

It's good to attempt this on the shorter length levels because if you fail, you won't have to take huge amounts of time to try again.

The Tortoise
Get 5 stars on any level playing on normal speed only.
Begin the level and complete it with all five stars. You can pause.
Recommended levels: 1

The Hare
Complete any level with 5 stars on 2x speed only.
Begin the level and hit the 2x speed button. Complete the level with all five stars.
You can pause.
Recommended levels: 1

The Hare with an Espresso
Complete any level with 5 stars on 4x speed only.
Begin the level and hit the 4x speed button. Complete the level with all five stars.
You can pause.
Recommended levels: 1

Need to Think
Press pause button 100 times
Play the game and you'll get it. I got it by level 10. If you don't tend to hit the pause button during play, you could always just sit there and spam space bar.

Non Stop
Complete any level without pausing the game
Easily done on the very first level, just don't hit space bar.
Recommended levels: 1

Without a Lunch Break
Complete any level having at least one resource produced the entire time
Unfortunately this achievement simply happened to me. I thought that it was going to be a really tough one where one would have to babysit a specific producer for a whole game. I got it naturally on level 11. I suspect that it was my raw log/wood production that did it for me. However it might also have been worker production. If so, then you'll probably get it on level 20 which I was always short on workers for, so my cities never filled up with workers and they were being constantly produced.
Recommended levels: 11,
Any further data on this one would be appreciated.
Train Management
Close Call
Have two trains pass by very close to each other
I got this by accident. I'm sure most players will get it by accident too as they play the game. I did notice that both trains were moving at the time, although I had only just recently started one up. It was a very very close call.
Therefore I would recommend setting up a tight intersection, pause one train close to the curve, and as another train goes past it unpause the train to go forward and almost hit the end of the other train.

Deal Maker
Make a train visit 8 different stations
The same locomotive has to visit all the stations with the same cargo.
On level 9 you deliver all 8 boards to town. You now have a train that can`t stop anywhere else but back at the sawmill. Visit all of the seven stations (inculding both cities) and then as your last station, back to the sawmill.
Recommended levels: 9

Forgotten
Deliver the first train in the end of the level without stopping it
In the current EA version of the game with only 20 levels, this achievement can only be done on level 5.
Note that at the beginning of the level there are already 2 logs at the lumber mill. Make a small loop of tracks, start a train with the logs and make it run on said loop. Complete all of the other tasks on the level, and at the very end let the train exit the loop and deliver its goods to the city.

Some pitfalls include: delivering all 6 logs to the city rather than just 4 so that your last train deilvers 5&6 | not delivering your log train last | hitting pause on your log train because you realised your timing was off and it wasn't going to be the last train | not making your log train the very first train to be sent out.
Required levels: 5

Forgot Something
Return a train back to its departure station
Easiest method is to send out a train of workers from a city, and then turn the train around letting it return to the same city.

Full Garage
Get 8 locomotives on one level
The first level you can get this on is #37. You can likewise get Upgrade Complete by upgrading all eight of your engines. Level 37 has a lot of free cash for you to use in the tail end of the level.

Get Out of My Way
Have one train crash into another from behind
I had an upgraded train crash into a slower train by accident.
You can also stop a train dead in its tracks and then allow a train to crash into the back of it. Mind you it needs to crash into the caboose not the engine!

Highlander
Finish the level with only one train working
You might think this is train mis-management, but you have to take some pretty specific actions and manage your train destruction! Simple to achieve, but you're unlikely to get get it by accident. I did this one on level 2 whilst working on BBQ, Missed It!, and Prick of Conscience.

Individual Delivery
Send 3 trains in a row with only one car each
You'll need to empty something of resources so that you can send a train out as soon as one single thing has been generated. I used a city and transported three workers one at a time and one after another. I delivered them to a quite close-by destination so that I could get my engines back and swiftly as possible. You can do this on any level, I did it on level 13 by happenstance.

Innovator
Upgrade 200 locomotives
Seriously, play through all 50 levels first, and if you don't have this by then you can easily brute force it. Levels 7 and 10 have four starting locomotives and enough cash to upgrade all of them at the start of the level. Just hit reset and upgrade them over and over until it pops.

Juggler
Complete a level with 8 simultaneously running trains
Remember that you need to complete the level before this achievement will register. You may find, as I did, that you are very almost done a level but you won't get all 5 stars. Resist the urge to restart and instead complete the level if you've had 8 trains out at the same time.
Recommended level: 30

Missed It
Transport 50 trains to a wrong destination
Although you'll likely get this in time (because every once in a while I haven't paid enough attention and a train sometimes goes to a wrong station) it doesn't take too much to force it. On level 2 I worked on several different achievements - murdering cows for BBQ, failing stars for Prick on Conscience, and delivering trains to the wrong stations. It was nice to work on multiple achievements.

One Way
Complete a level using a tunnel only in one direction
Buld a tunnel somewhere and put one train through it. Then you should demolish the tracks leading to the tunnel so that you can't possibly let another train through the wrong way by accident.
Recommended levels: 10, 15

Ouroboros
Make a train crash into itself
The first level you can do this on is level 32. It took me a little while to figure out A) where there was enough space to build a loop, and B) how to re-direct the train into that loop. I know, I know, it seems blindingly obvious when you look at my screen-shot, but in case your brain is also on holiday the day you try this, please take a peek. It is hidden so that those who want to figure it out for themselves, can.

Relocation
Send a train with workers from one city to another
Quite a literal description. Send a train of workers from one city to a different city. Make sure that the city is not full of workers when the train arrives.

Squander
Build a tunnel and finish the level without using it
The simplest solution is to build a tunnel without any rails connected to it. Let it sit there unused until you complete the level. No train management required!
Recommended levels: 10, 15,

To the Eyeballs
Complete the level sending only fully loaded trains
Easily completed on the very first level. Make sure you always have 2 of a resource before you try to send off a train. Be aware that on higher levels your upgraded trains can carry more resources and must be full to get this achievement!
Recommended levels: 1

Upgrade Complete
Upgrade 8 or more locomotives on one level
The first level you can do this on is #37. You will also get Full Garage while doing this achievement if you don't have it already. I'm sure there will be more options in the later levels too.
Construction
Bridge Builder
Build 100 bridges
I recommend playing through the whole game first. If you don't have it by level 50 then you can finish it up on a level that allows you to build bridges and which has a fair bit of starting cash to build some bridges with. I forced this achievement on level 20 by building two bridges and restarting the level to build two more. Rinse and repeat.

Bridge Mania
Build 5 bridges and finish the level
Very easy to do in level 20. There are 13 places to build short bridges which cost 17k to build. You have oodles of cash to work with too. It is probably easiest to just build superfluous bridges, but it apparently does work if you delete a bridge, build it, delete, build, until you've done so five times.
Recommended levels: 20,

Builder
Build 1,000 track tiles
Play the game and you'll get it. I got it by level 9, but I restarted a few levels several times in the pursuit of five stars.

Engineer
Build 10,000 track tiles
Just play the game - I should think you would get it by the time you complete level 50. I got it before level 30 (I forgot to note which level in the 20's I got it). However I have done a lot of replaying of levels and I suspect that most people will pick this up in a higher level than I got it.

Jewelry Accuracy
Complete any level of 2-5 era without destroying any objects on the map
The very first level in the second era, Venice level 11, works nicely for this achievement. It's quite straight-forward to build tracks without destryong anything.

Large Construction
Build productions totaling 500K
Play through all the levels first. If you still don't have it then it is quite simple to top off your amount spent building production stations by going to level 1 and buying the 10k sawmill there. Buy, hit Esc, restart, and then buy it again.

Mega Railroad
Complete a level with 300 or more track tiles
You'd think that building 300 tracks would be easy, however many maps either don't have enough cash or enough free tiles to build on. I suspect that once we get the final 30 levels there will be more options for this achievement.

Keep in mind that you're unlikely to be able to finish a level with five stars and complete this achievement. When I missed the first time star on level 20 I switched to building and counting railroad tracks instead.

If tackling this on level 20, The Palace, my wonderful info gatherer machcio gives some great tips which I followed:
"You still need some tactics but nothing especially difficult:
  1. You'll need more money than you'll get from just creating products necessary to finish the level. Creating gold bars and transporting them to golden rings factory is best, as you produce tier2 item from nothing. Next best thing is wood->wooden boards->chair factory chain.
  2. Forget about 5 stars. You'll need to pause game to lay tracks, and making additional money will take more time than first time limit allows.
  3. Remember that one TILE of the ground counts as one point. Making crossroads or intersections will not count as multiple tracks."

Metro Builder
Build 100 tunnels
Another achievement to not worry about until you finish all 50 levels. After completing the game if you still don't have it, or if you want to just force it, you should find a level with a fair bit of starting cash, the ability to build tunnels, and places to build tunnels.

I did so on level 10 "The Tunnel" where you can build a very small tunnel near the bottom right-ish of the screen, and above and right a bit of that tiny tunnel you'll have enough to build a second tunnel. So build two tunnels, restart the level, build 2 more, etc.

Multilevel Road
Achievement's Description
Simply build some tracks under a bridge. Or build a bridge over some tracks.
Recommended levels: 13, 16,

Overseer
Build 5,000 track tiles
Play the game through and if you still don't have this then go back and re-play some levels. Once the full game is released with all 50 levels I have no doubt that one would simply pick up this achievement.
It would good to know if track tiles built on workshop levels count towards this, if anyone happens to trigger it while playing a workshop level.

Railroad Tycoon
Reported to be "buy 150 trains".
On level 10 you have enough money to buy three trains right at the start. Remember that you don't need to even leave the level, just buy three trains, hit esc and click on restart, then buy three more trains. Rinse and repeat. After playing through the first 50 levels I only needed to do this 10 times to get the achievement - it was very quick and easy.
Destruction
BBQ
Remove 50 animals
You can use money as you go to murder animals throughout your playthrough from level 1 to 50. However it is easy to brute force this one. Go to level 2. You have enough starting money to kill all 7 cows, then just restart the level and do it again, and again, and again, etc. Level 38 also has many sheep and a fair bit of starting cash.

Environmental Activist
Remove construction equipment for 100K
Just be aware of this one and delete construction equipment as you play through all the levels. A quick and easy way to force it is to go to level 44 which has three 10k diggers (they are the three animated ones). Just delete the three diggers, and restart the level to rinse and repeat until you get the achievement.
Alternatively there is one piece of construction equipment to delete on level 20.

Miscalculation
Remove 50 bridges or tunnels
Play through all of the levels first. Maybe keep this achievement in mind as you play through the game and if you're working on 5 stars and know you're about to (or you do) loose a star, then perhaps before you hit restart to try again you should delete any tunnels or bridges that you've built.
I forced this one on level 20 where you can follow this procedure to remove 6 items per level restart:
  • Build two bridges for 17k each
  • Delete the two bridges, the tunnel, and their connecting tracks
  • Build two bridges for 17k each
  • Delete the two bridges and their connecting tracks
  • Build one more bridge and delete it

Sabotage
Blow up 100 trains
I recommend playing through all 50 levels first. Then if you need to work on this pick a level, preferably a higher level which will have a lot of starting trains. Send your trains out from the cities with workers and let them explode. No need to build any tracks. You can work on It's no Coincidence at the same time if you need that one still.

Vandal
Destroy a building worth 100k
You don't even have to complete the level to get this one, but you might as well do it on a level that you're aiming to do Lucky Vandal on at the same time!
Levels with a 100k destroyable object are:
5 - stonehenge (but it would be tight and slow to earn 100k on this level)
10 - a red farmhouse/barn
18 - a red farmhouse/barn
43 - many windmills and lots of free cash, but you'll fail a star

Lucky Vandal
Destroy a building worth 100k and complete a level
I got this on level 10 by destroying the red farmhouse/barn. You do not need five stars, you just need to go on and finish the level.
Recommended levels: 10, 18,

Woodcutter
Remove 300 trees
A long-term goal to keep in mind. Whenever you have spare cash, trees on a level, and no star restriction for amount of stuff you can destroy... kill a tree! Bulldoze several trees. Keep bulldozing or buliding over trees.
Between normal gameplay in the pursuit of stars, and playing level 16, I got this. At the very end of level 16 I pasued and killed all the trees I could. You make a fair bit of money on 16 and there are quite a few trees around too. Each tree is 1k to destroy and I had about 260k to burn through.

Common Cause
Send trains with workers from different cities to one production
Simple, send workers from two different cities to the same production yard. You'll likely get this just by playing the game.
Critical Care
Crash and repair one locomotive 5 times
You have to purposefully crash the same train 5 times and repair it 5 times. I really don't think that you're likely to get it by happenstance as you play through. You can do this on any level, I happened to do it on level 5.
It's No Coincidence
Go bankrupt 10 times
I got this by accident trying to brute force my way to getting Bridgemania and Sabotage on level 20. You can work on this on any level. Build a bunch of track that doesn't connect to anything - dead end - so that you use up all of your money. Keep sending out trains to blow up at the dead end. Maybe make a short close by dead end to your city. Soon you'll not have enough money to repair all of you dead trains and you'll fail the level due to bankruptcy. Congratulations!
Living it Large
Become a millionaire
The first level it's really feasible to do this on is level 20. I'm sure there will be more options once the final 30 levels are released. It took me about 40 minutes to do on level 20. I did have to destroy some trains packed with jewelry so that I could deliver more gold to the jewelry factory to make some more money. However be aware that doing this means you destroy engines which cost 10k to repair.

Some notes about this achievement are:
  • it is not a million in total earnings, you need to have one million money all at the same time (the money counter in the top left must read 1,000,000)
  • you don't have to finish the level
  • you can keep playing even after you lose the longest time star

Recommended levels:
  • Level 20 in the main game. Possible, but probably more painful than necessary
  • Rio Grande by The Good, The Bad, and The Dudley
Prick of Conscience
Fail 10 star tasks
This only counts the two additional task stars on a level. Time stars don't count towards it. I failed a few stars throughout my playthrough of the first 20 levels whilst the game was still in Early Access. Therefore I suggest that you should just play the game through and complete all 50 levels.

If you still don't have this achievement by the end of the game, then you can work on it. Go to level 2 and murder cows for BBQ. Killing all 7 cows will automatically make you fail one star. Sending some wheat to the sand station, or sand to the wheat station will allow you to swiftly fail the other star.
Will Work
Repair 50 locomotives
I brute forced my way through this one because I don't usually need to repair very many locomotives during normal play. I did it on level 5 where you can send out trains with workers and repair 12 locomotives per reset.

Misc
Multi-achievement Levels
I'm sure there are more than this, but these are the ones that I experienced. If anyone ends up working on multiple achievements on the same level (3 or more achievements that can be worked on) please share!

Level 2
I used level 2 to work on several achievements, so I thought I'd mention them all here.
  • BBQ - murder the seven cows on the map.
  • Missed It! - deliver a few trains to the wrong stations. I actually ended up sending a sand train bouncing back and forth between the cow farm and the wheat farm. I didn't need to babysit it much other than making sure no other train crashed into it.
  • Prick of Conscience - by doing the two things listed above you will fail the two objectives stars.
  • Highlander - since this level has only 3 trains, you can get to the end of it whilst doing bits towards the above three achievements, and then continue to finish the level. I paused a worker train just outside of the wheat farm, which had 2 wheat in it. I paused my last cow train just outside the city. Then I sent out a wheat train to crash into the worker train, and lastly I delivered my cow train to the city.

Level 20
I used level 20 to brute force a couple of achievements to trigger so that I could personally confirm them for my guide. So you can too!
  • Sabotage! - there are 5 trains at the start. Don't build any track tiles, just send the trains out to crash. Repair one train and you can crash 6 trains per level restart. Meanwhile you can also work on...
  • Bridgemania - you can build two bridges per level restart.
  • It's No Coincidence - if you crash 6 trains and build two bridges, you'll be bankrupt and lose the level. Rinse and repeat.
List of Objectives and What Levels They're On
I had to gather some of this data to figure out my level recommendations for certain achievements. I then decided I might as well gather all of the information about star requirements whilst I was at it and put it all in one place. Might be useful to someone at some point.

how to get no fun allowed?

I think your description for how to get 'Prick of Conscience' is wrong. You just have to fail a total of 10 task quests.

About Vandal and Lucky Vandal, $100,000 monuments are also available at level 1: the mill and stonehenge. To reach $100,000 to be able to destroy them, you can send back trains to their source as this will waste resources but allows to do more travels.

Living it Large - Doing it on level 20 is actually good IMO, since you can get Miscalculation easily with the money after that. Also can get Bridge Mania. Just play at highest speed all the time.

One way - I got this on stage 19 while playing normally.

I got "Close Call" naturally when I stopped a train that was about to crash into another at a junction. So you don't need the two trains to be moving to get this achievement, you can also do the opposite, as long as one train stops extremely close to a moving train.

@yao199
Yes, currently you need both of the main game DLCs to get 100% in the achievements because the only way to get all of the stars is to have those extra levels. The DLC are: [1] Passenger Flow, [2] Myths and Rails.

Individual Delivery can be done even faster. Start on level 1 (or any other really), connect the city to the lumber camp and send two trains. Now you have 3 workers in the lumber camp. The resource generation is slow, so delete the first track after the lumber camp and send your trains into their death (:steamsad:) as soon as the next lumber is generated. Don't forget to purchase a third train and send it on its way.

Do I need to own any DLC besides Passenger Flow in order to be able to obtain 100%?
Thank you
