The best cars in the game!
By Factor
So I just want to start off by saying i've played this game a decent amount on both PS3 (using the standard PS3 controller) and PC (using the standard XboxOne controller), the game feels pretty much the exact same from my personal experience.

Secondly this guide is for the best cars to use for career mode, so I won't be talking about the DLC vehicles.

Also I will be listing the cars from best in class to worst in class, but this guide is entirely based on my personal experience and opinions.

Here's the tl;dr for those who don't want to scroll through the entire guide:

Pro Muscle: Dodge Viper SRT-10
Prototype: Ford Doran JE4
Touring: BMW 320SI
Drift: Mazda RX-7 FD3S
GT2: Panoz Esperante
GT1: Saleen S7R
LMP2: Lola B05/40
LMP1: Audi R10 TDI
Prestige: Pagani Zonda R
Pro Tuned: Nissan Skyline GT-R Z-Tune

Pro Muscle
Pro Muscle

1. Dodge Viper SRT-10: The Viper is statistically the best car in the category, however this car is HARD to drive. If you aren't used to this care you are going to crash......alot. I still think the car is well worth learning, however if you're a beginner I would recommend the next car on this list.

2. Ford Mustang GT-R Concept: This car is really good. And it's really easy to drive. The Mustang lacks the upside of the Viper but it's super consistent and great for players not comfortable in the pro muscle class.

3. Ford Mustang Boss 302: The starter car. it's okay, the biggest upside is you don't have to purchase it and it is good enough for the early races in the game. Once you get later in the game upgrade to the MustangGT-R or Viper.

4. Chevrolet Camaro Concept: Now we're starting to get into the bad. It has good acceleration, even better than the Viper (but only by a little bit). The issue with the car is that the acceleration, though very good, is not worth the trade-offs of bad top speed and handling.

5. Dodge Challenger Concept: It's slow. It handles well, but it's slow. Why is the Challenger so slow? It would be the 2nd fastest behind the Viper if this were irl. Why Codemasters?!?!?! I love the Challenger but man it is disappointing in game.

6. Plymouth AAR Cuda: It's a pretty car to look at......Too bad that's about all it has going for it. It's slow, expensive, and has mediocre handling.

Prototype
Prototype

1. Ford Doran JE4: This car is awesome. It sticks to the road like glue, has great acceleration, and great top speed. The only downside I can find is the car is kinda funny lookin' imo.

2. Mazda 787B: Like the Ford Doran, this car is fast and easy to handle. Interesting fact, this car is the only rotary engine car to win LeMans.

3. Nissan R390 GT-1: This car is fast, speed is good. Too bad everything else is bad. Has WAY worse acceleration than the Mazda, and handles like crap. Oh, and it's really expensive.
Touring Cars
Touring Cars

1. BMW 320SI: This car is the fastest car in the class (not saying much, there's only 2) But it's so much faster than the Chevorlet Lacetti that it's not even funny. The BMW has kinda bad handling, but it's not like you've got a whole lot of options here.

2. Chevorlet Lacetti: It's slow. Very slow. You'll get smoked by the BMW every time, which is a shame because this car actually handles like a dream.
Drift Cars
Drift Cars

1. Mazda RX-7 FD3S: This car is the drift version of the Viper. Better than everything else, but hard to drive. Drifting as a whole takes some practice to win at harder difficulties, just like the RX-7 takes some practice to pull off a drift without slamming into a wall. It has everything you want in a drift car once you've mastered it. Pro tip: stop fighting with the car, and let it guide you, this car is aggressive with where it wants to go.

2. Toyota Soarer: Gave up on the RX-7? already? Well lucky for you, this car is much easier to use, and still really good. In fact, this is just as good at the drifting part as the RX-7, it's only real downside is it's too slow to win the harder events at higher difficulties. Really great overall if you are learning to drift, or are doing drift events early in the game before you need speed to win.

3. Nissan Silvia: Overall this one is okay. Like the Soarer it's biggest downside is that it's slow. Also it feels different to drift than the standard drift car. Take this bad boy on a test track and see if you like the feel before you purchase.

4. Toyota Corolla GT-S (AE86): Deja Vu! I have raced in this race before! Higher in the street, and everyone is passing me! (Like the 2 cars above, it's slow but a solid and easy to use drift car. it's 4th because it's the slowest in class)

5. Pontiac GTO: This is not a drift car. I mean it's not TERRIBLE, but it's not a drift car. Give it a test drive, it feels WAY different than the other drift cars.

6. Subaru Impreza: Ooh look, another slow car! Except this one is hard to drift in because it slides everywhere....even when i'm not trying to drift.....hell unplug your controller and the thing will probably start sliding around on it's own.

7. Dodge Charger SRT-8 Drift: Who thought making a Muscle sedan into a drift car was a good idea? Because it was a bad idea....a very bad idea.
GT2
GT2

1. Panoz Esperante: I really don't have much to say about this car, the GT2 class in general is bad, but his car is the lesser of 2 evils. Not very fast, but at least it can take a corner thanks to it's decent breaks, and okay handling.

2. Spyker C8 Spyder: is SLIGHTLY faster than Panoz, however it handles HORRIBLY. Bad trade off, get the Panoz.
GT1
GT1

1. Saleen S7R: The Saleen is actually one of the slower cars in the GT1 class, but it more than makes up for it's lack of speed with some great handling.

2. Chevrolet Corvette C5-R: Another car that is easy to drive. If you're a Corvette fan this is the car for you. Speed is average, go for this car if the slower speed of the Saleen turns you off but you still want to be able to race without driving off the road every other corner.

3. Aston Martin DBR9: This car is a bit of an oddball in the group. This is the slowest car in the class, but it can take corners at much higher speeds than other cars, which is good because the breaks are terrible, and you will have to start slowing down a bit earlier than you would think. This car is definitely a try before you buy car.

4. Lamborghini Murcielago RGT: Just like it's real life counterpart this car is fast. Too bad it's speed isn't really worth the god awful handling, even at lower speeds this car has trouble cornering. But it's still a Lambo, I KNOW you've always wanted to drive one.

5. Koenigsegg CCGT: This one falls into the same boat as the Lambo, it's really fast, but even at slower speeds it has trouble cornering.

6. Chevrolet Corvette C6-R: Straight downgrade to the C5-R. There is no reason to buy this car.
LMP2
LMP2

1. Lola B05/40: Overall this car is excellent, It's fast, handling isn't too bad, and it has great acceleration. You'll have no problems topping the LMP2 class in this one.

2. Courage C65: Still a great car, it has really good handling and breaking, but it lacks the speed of the Lola and you'll lose too much ground on longer stretches of road for the better handing to be worth it.
LMP1
LMP1

1. Audi R10 TDI: This is the best car in the game. It's only downside is the price tag, but it's well worth it, especially if you want to do the 24hr LeMans race.

2. Creation CA06/H-JUDD: Why are you still reading through the list? I said the Audi is the best car in the game. There's no discount Audi, everything in this class is really expensive or not worth using. This one has similar handling, but slower speed.

3. Courage LC70: The Courage has similar speed to the Audi, but worse handling. Just buy the Audi.

4. Lola B06/10: This car is TOO SLOW. It's performance is more in line with LMP2 cars. You'll get smoked if you use this car.
Prestige
Prestige

1. Pagani Zonda R: This car has great handling, and solid speed. You won't have any problems with this car, in any aspect of the race.

2. Koenigsegg CCXR: Just like the other Koenigsegg, this car has great speed, but loses way too much in the handling department to be worth using.
Pro Tuned
Pro tuned

1. Nissan Skyline GT-R Z-Tune: Really solid car. It's super fast and nimble enough to navigate the tight Japanese roads you'll be often using this car for.

2. Nissan 350Z: The 350Z is a little bit slower than the Skyline, but a little bit easier to handle. The trade-offs between the 350Z and Skyline are pretty even, but I personally prefer the Skyline more. Try both and see which one you like.

3. Toyota Supra: This car is harder to drive and slower than the 2 above it. Unless you just got done watching the Fast & Furious movies, don't buy this car.

4. Honda NSX-R: Similar to the Supra, except the car manages to have even worse acceleration.

I think having assist on or off also makes some difference to how the cars handle.

I agree with your take on the Lamborghini Murcielago for example. It feels like driving a high speed truck. But the Koenigsegg CCGT feels fantastic to me with assists on, and much more competitive than the Saleen S7R for track racing where top speed matters. And even if the CCGT doesn't corner as well as the Saleen, its explosive acceleration helps make up for it. I'd even go as far as saying that in the GT1 category, the CCGT outright smokes everything else.

The Honda NSX and Toyota Supra also free pretty good with assists on, so the entire line of Japanese Pro Tuned cars IMO feels quite balanced.

what about touge

A note with touring cars, yes the BMW is faster, however in online most people chose the lacetti purely bc theres zero oversteer and u never really need to brake. However a good BMW driver would smoke a lacetti in most situations

Say what you want about the Cuda, Lacetti, and the C6.R... I love those three to death.:B1:

Very good list. But I have to disagree with the BMW 320si. I remember back in 2008 I played it online on PS3, everyone was using the Chevrolet, just because it had better handling.

Personally I do like BMW more and use it offline races but Chevrolet was more capable in online aggressiveness.

I almost agree with all on the list but MA MAN I dont care how many time I spun at a corner with DBR9 when i drop into 1st gear. I will always be a simp for Aston martin's v12.

Seeing some subjective opinions here, I think I can agree with, at most, half of that list

If you use the mod which adds DLC cars to career mode, the TVR Speed 12 is absolutely overpowered.

The reason I didn't include the Porsche 911 in GT2 class is because it is not a purchasable car meaning you can only use it in career mode in driver offers. I only race for my own team as soon as I unlock the ability to, so I have not used the car very many times.

What about Porsche 911 in GT2 class?
