Man these things would have no chance with a 4th rate and up due to the tactics, training, manouverability, and in general any frigate or smaller SOL being designed specifically for battle, where as East Indiamens were larger cargo ships that were armed yes, but their first purpose was to haul alot of load.
Its like comparing a slightly armoured Uhaul truck with a gun on top, vs a tank with a gun on top lol.
Read more you crazy crazy rocker
In fact the vast vast majority of Indiamen ships were mistaken for RN frigates due to carrying about 30 cannons.
I also saw you post in the comments of another guide for somebody giving cannon stats for this game where you went on a rant with some horrid spelling/grammar, and then the next comment was perfect and looked copy and pasted but was still pretty wrong.
Please check your facts or do more research as there is some pretty glaring incorrect/misinformation in this "history" you are trying to spread.
PS ppl aren't here to hear half assed history rants either, that is what youtube is for. They are here for the guides and comments are usually around them as well.
Sorry that is false. Indiamen did not have 80 guns. they had 30 on avg and sometimes slightly higher but not the same amount of cannons as a 2nd rate(very expensive) being 70-80. Also they were of a smaller size generally and NOT accurate at the same range SOLs which anything above a frigate carried much more powerful guns than any or 99% of Indiamen ships(such as the long guns on a 1st/2nd/3rd rate).
You are correct in that they were fast, but the primary use of their guns was to be too hard a target for enemies, or if they tried to approach her to weaken and board, the Indiaman's guns would now be in range to be optimal.
So no, not even a chance it could take on a 1st and/or 2nd and most likely wouldnt survive long at all against a 3rd rate as well.
Nelson had some at the battle of the Nile and Trafalgar. terms of the licence the east India companies had was they had to supply ships to the countries navies and their private armies in times of war if needed.
Very few ships could catch them or out gun them. Cause of their speed and firepower they could take on a 1st rater and win.
