RIP Mafia 1 Original Characters

I created this in memoriam of some cool characters that were fun or got very great missions but didn't make it anymore in remake version..RIP !




Yellow Pete.. Idiot Joe and Big D i c k were 3 cool characters that were in original Mafia game but for some reason in remake they were cut. I've made this guide in their memoriam...they lost but never forgotten !

If you didnt played Mafia 1 original..(you should) Yellow Pete was a guy you went to get weapons for bank job and final mission.Yellow Pete name comes from the fact that he have yellow teeth as Paulie mentioned during a conversation with Thomas.

Idiot Joe was a guy that gave you info about Frank location in mission Omerta. his name well because he is an idiot :D

If you played original mafia you know what i am talking if not ..what you waiting for !? Go buy it !!

Big D i c k was a minor character that appears once in a Lucas Bertone side missions (yes in original Lucas give you things to do and get the car not just pick a picture and go find it)

Lucas Bertone's First Friend
It is of course... the door.
You never really see him, Lucas sends you to warn him about the cops, and you only have 90 seconds to do so. You can even wait around for them to show up.
Lucas' Injured Friend
Lucas' friend ends up shot in Chinatown. You can find him there lying with another guy, and need to take him to the doctor in Oakwood. Forget the race, this is the hardest mission in the game.
The Man In Suit
Another friend of Lucas', and again needs saving from the cops.
Big Stan
Another character from a mission from Lucas Bertone. Apparently he had beaten up his friend, Carlo, and asks you to return the favor. Big Stan is indeed... big.
The Courtesan
Lucas tasks you to follow this woman back to a man who owes him money.
The "Professionals"
After several failures to assassinate Sergio Morello, Salieri hires the so-called "professionals" to do it instead.

As one might expect, it doesn't turn out too well for them.

The Construction Worker

While not the most interesting when it comes to characters, he still plays a significant role in the mission. Depending on how you interact with him, the mission has three different outcomes, whether you kill him, ignore him, or kill him and drop him in the sewers.

You heartless bastard.
The Boater
Poor bastard.
Can be found during Election Campaign mission, when you have to assassinate the politician.
Speedy Gonzales
While I do appreciate the fact that the Remake has some form of Freeride Extreme missions, the original ones were just ridicilous. Here's an example.


A guy in his underwear running so fast his feet are on fire.

Cars are still faster, though.
Salvatore English
Salvatore is an expert safecracker and associate of the Salieri Crime Family. He recently immigrated to Lost Heaven from Italy, and speaks very little English.

In original game he speak english and Tommy can speak and understand him loud and clear however in Definitive Edition he speak only italian (you will have english subtitles) but Tommy and him can't speak italian..he will just try :)

In the mission Visiting Rich People(Original Mafia game), Salvatore can optionally teach you how to unlock the Prosecutor's Silver Fletcher.

It is unknown why developers decide to make him an italian.These being said RIP English Salvatore

I played the original release on PC back in the early 2000s. As far as memory serves, it was pretty much the same with the expection that the infamous Race mission had no difficulty options.
It was about as hard as it is on the highest difficulty with damage on, so pretty bloody difficult.

well indeed even today has his own charm and is still a very good game to play ..not sure how was back in the day but couldnt be worse at least for pc ...

Original mafia had the real charm , also made for pc . instead of console weird commands , ngl it was much harder

ngl i liked how they made salvatore unable to speak english, or have limited knowledge of it. it made the game a lot more interesting and diverse in a weird way. not really diverse as in what you would expect diverse to mean, but rather a change that makes things a little more fun. and also italian is a beautiful language, so i didn't mind at all. it really added to salvatore's character methinks.

they cutted content but add new content that wasn't in game and yeah is different but you still have free roam in this game to collect things and do achievements and such ..so is not really everything as you said but anyway i feel ya ...anyway in my opinion the game is still awesome but you can't say you are a true OG mafia fan if you never played first classic one XD

Welp also they made the city different... I still after those years have all the routes in my muscle memory and I just drive and drive and then look at the map and Saliery bar is somewhere else and I gotta drive around 2 blocks to get there... They tried to make the game more player friendly which was a mistake but still... its decent remake, Final Fantasy 7 Remake is way better in this way but for low budget, Hangar 13 made a really good looking game. Cut content cuz of the budget and sped up missions are just there and we cant do anything about it... Free ride is empty, Extreme ride is nowhere... and yeah, hundereds of hours in OG Mafia were just cuz of free ride and extreme ride... Also I hate the changed ending cuz the line where Tommy killed Sam was legendary in my country and they just cut it out cuz it was too offensive for today standards... why make 18+ game when you cut out content anyways... IDK

They really butchered moonlighting. All the suspense and preparation, getting guns and meeting Pete, Finding a car for get away, going around town in a train for recon.. All of that cut from the game.

Really bad decision making on the developers. Who knows though, maybe they just didn't have the time for Pete and stuff.

He does? Interesting, I didn't know that. It's too bad, he would've been a fine addition, the plot in the DE was a bit too chaotic and fast-paced for my tastes, as in opposed to the clear and calm one of the original.
