Using SpecialK's texture injection we can the place the the white border texture with a completely transparent texture. No modding to the cpk/game files needed!
Installation
  1. Download & Install SpecialK[discourse.differentk.fyi]
  2. Download F8E1C0EFDDS[drive.google.com]
  3. Start SpecialK global injection.


  4. Load the game get the main menu.
  5. Close game.

  6. Go to C:\Users\userid\Documents\My Mods\SpecialK\Profiles\Valkyria Chronicles 4 Complete Edition\SK_Res\inject\textures
  7. You might have to make the \SK_Res\inject\textures folders.
  8. Paste the F8E1C0EF.DDS into the textures folder.

  9. Run game and enjoy!

Extra
SpecialK Local Install [www.pcgamingwiki.com] if you do not want to start SpecialK every time you play the game.

Disable
Just do not start SpecialK.
or
Delete, Move, or Rename the F8E1C0EF.DDS.

Just posting to thank Grey and esp. Fireball for providing the other two file names to remove the aiming border as well! :albedobeer::albedobeer:

Not gonna try this. Who knows if the file safe...it may contain a trojan for all I know...just like Texmod contains trojan file :DMCJester1:

So yeah, this mod didn't work at all. Completely bricked my computer on start up. Black screen of death, etc.

p.s. To fix the aiming white border copy and paste that F8E1C0EF.DDS file into the same folder and rename it as 5D9E10AA.DDS

and to remove the canvas effect,copy and paste that F8E1C0EF.DDS file into the same folder and rename it as 3E60FAE5.DDS.

This still works and removes the border from in-game when you are moving around, it seems like when you aim it comes back though, but only when aiming.

Also, this doesn't seem to remove the canvas effect, only the white screen border.

This works great. Just note guys that the video cutscenes have the white border embedded in them and those won't be removed.
