Opinions - First Ascension
I ended up playing this mostly via the stored up offline time (The max you can store at one go is 24 hours which takes around 28 hours ish in real life time, then you need to login and quit the game again for it to hit the max of 48 hours).

It is a great game where you can explore and play in your own way.
Thus in my own way I ended up having my own goals of playing this (despite not being very efficient)

Goal: To progress stably without much lost perception till the next break point (like your first layer prestige or the first ascension) before slowly building back up again while if possible still working towards something permanent.

So I read some of the guides but they are all for efficiency and speed. Usually people like me aren't that optimised and following the guide fully would end up making me feeling some sense of lost.
So the first point I can recall recently is this:

First Ascension.
Instead of queueing the speed run prior to that first ascension point ascension, I recommend queueing some other trials instead despite the guide saying that they are harder (they are, but at least you are starting off somewhere when you are playing slowly instead of being bound by the 20 hours time limit in speed run).
Since I made that mistake, my entire gameplay felt like a sham since almost everything is reset except armoury, and I have to build back up to ascension second point in order to set the trial thingy back to one of those non timer limited ones.

Summary - First ascension trial prior to ascension, choose those without time limits since slow players won't be able to clear that speed run on the first run.

I am glad too see a differing style. I myself have not really followed the concept, opting to explore things in my own way and pace. I've been sitting at prestige 7 for some time, I've not yet made it into the ascension part of the game. And glancing through the popular guide, it seemed alien to me. I couldn't follow it for more than a few paragraphs. I am pretty sure I didn't do the prestige stuff quite right. But they have done fairly well, IMHO, ...
Level: 1.25e2267- Progress to Prestige layer 7 point 204: 84%- Ascension: 10%
Floor: 1765 - Highest Floor: 2908 - Gold: 5.11e7

Thanks for the comment and sharing of your experiences too :)
The "guide" is probably gonna be my own sharing of experience too (Story and Lore), the more experiences shared the merrier :D

the main reason people recommend Speed trial first is its the only one with no real downside, yes you can fail it but the other trials would take a lot of effort to work through, i did try some of the other trials when i was in AL1 before i managed to get my first speed trial down alongside its reward probably being one of the best for the layer

i remember doing highroller as one of my last trials in layer 1 and it being a nightmare that i had to pretty much manually do the last 4 prestige layers needed for it since the game did not want to co-operate, quickfire is also one that might need a lot of assistance to even do, though you could probably do it with hevily tweaking autobuyers

even/odd is probably the most doable one since its restriction is kinda just there, scarcity is also doable since its just an EXP reduction (though don't be fooled into thinking its just a 10% less, its actually a lot more because of exponents)
