Kill All Enemies Before Advancing - You wouldnt want to leave behind a bunch of hostiles in the rebel underground railroad after you attracted them there would you? Gordon comes through an alerts every single hostile along the routes that everyone must take. He also has more firepower than the civilians that have to take the same route after him. So is it right for him to run through hot-spots alerting everyone to his presence but not killing any of them as he depletes every suit charge station and health refill station? No. As the hero he should ensure the safe passage of all those who follow him. The easiest way to do that? Clear every hostile along the route to FREEDOM!



Clear All Secret Areas - It's a tough world out there. There are people who complain that they never have enough of what they need, or want, as they walk through life with grudges and judgements saying that it's always a hard road. There are also people who are thankful for what they are given, thankful for the people that share their time with them, for the works of art and beauty that so many people work so hard to share with the world so they can enjoy it too, and look for the best in any situation... checking behind doors and under rocks for something that might help them achieve their goals of mutual enjoyment.




No Rushing- So 10 rebels set out under fire of hundreds of hostiles following the path of "The One Free Man" and 1 or even a few decide to not scout ahead in hostile unknown territory, or Leeroy into the enemy strongholds because of lack of will to live, or try to Kenevil it past an obstacle that is there to pace the fun, and what happens? The rest of the rebels say "wtf? we just lost a friend, his ammo, and his supplies, so he could do what again exactly? alert the enemy that more are on their way?" Do they say "its just a game, who cares if I am only 1 of 10 people in here? im going to play like im solo rushing the underground from hl2 where I can turn on godmode and magically save my position, ammo, health etc 10 times per area when i use The Force to make my route as EASY as possible before I even start. so now I'm going to pretend that you other 9 people wont be affected by me sleep-walking through the same underground that you all struggle through for a fun challenge. if I die in my sleep it doesnt matter cause im just dreaming and can wake up and go back to sleep again then resume where I left off!" No. you dont. So why would you play like a douchebag who is going out of their way to play a co-op 10 person mod of a single player game, only to play it like the single player game? If you want to test how fast you can beat hl2, play single player. If you want to ignore the story, play single player. if you want to cheat, play single player. If you have ballz and want to challenge yourself, try playing HL2 on Hard Mode, killing every enemy, and not saving or loading quicksaves all game. I bet less than 1% of everyone who downloads Synergy to troll it like they are playing HL2 with disposable sideshow sheep to troll for fun can even get to ravenholm without dying. Want to challenge yourself even more? Try playing this bad ass co-op mod with a full server, on hard mode, and see if you can get 0 deaths for all 10 players even just to the airboat. -Basically; playing like a ♥♥♥♥♥ wont get you or your team anywhere or any enjoyment, only yourself at the expense of others who just want to share a beautiful work of art how the creators intended.




The game is what it is- Would you dare fix a bad brush stroke on the mona lisa just because YOU thought it was bad? If you did you wouldnt live long..... If it's not broken, don't fix it. Simple. If there is something really wrong about the game itself or the mechanics or a glitch. report it to a dev, if you have suggestions for replayability, adding secrets etc, suggest it to a dev, but DON'T ♥♥♥♥♥ and moan all day about how you think the game sucks because the car isn't an F1 Racecar, or because you think Alyx talks too much, or you think cheats should be enabled in pub servers, or if your team wants to chill and enjoy part of a level and you want to rush to the end etc etc. Synergy has come a long way - thanks to the active dev - and negative opinions about frivolous aspects of the game should be kept to just that; a disgruntled feeling inside the people who hate and judge. Nothing more. Chances are that most of the people wont want to hear someone complain about something they dont like that doesn't bother most people, or that they even appreciate or enjoy.




Move as a team and help eachother- Bottom line; people like people that help eachother and act nice and considerate. Very few people like people that come for the sole purpose of hurting others and ruining their game. Heal people that are low hp when you have extra medkits. If nobody is in front of you, turn around and make sure that at least half your group is right behind you. Synergy isn't a race.. Share supplies and ammo. If you already have 300 smg ammo, full hp and suit, should you really destroy that cache and spawn pistol ammo from it? or should you let your low hp teammate who just died recently get some hp and smg ammo? Share your knowledge! If you see people passing a secret or easter egg like gman etc, stop them and show them! If ambushed, take cover and check where your team is before you run or dive. If friendly fire is on, don't run through teammates firing, or stand in front of them. If you are in front with FF on, crouch so that your team can cover you. Don't shoot through teammates with FF on if you are in back. Don't try to push people off ledges or kill them with elevator or props. Don't kill yourself for more ammo, it ruins the challenge for everyone else and discourages them from hunting for secret supplies. Don't progress to the next level without majority of team, if 1 or even a few people want to explore a level or try to climb something etc, give them a few minutes and tell them that you are ready to go, or go join them and try to enjoy yourself.




NPC's are fragile- If you know an NPC glitches when a cutscene etc happens, don't try and jump around their path of movement, block their destination, press use on them, etc. If anything, stay clear of scripted npcs and let them do their thing. Also, exploiting crucial NPCs so they glitch or bug out can crash the server and at the very least ruins the map for everyone playing.


It's all really just common sense and good morals and motivation... Play the game like this HL2 but you have to take into consideration 9 other peoples feelings, wants, skill, speed, and knowledge of the game.

These are really just long-winded ways to say:be considerate and enjoy playing hl2 with others. Mostly taken from the rules of my server... Not a slandered version like some others I could mention...
