Using 15.ai sound file in SFM
By EmperorFaiz.wav
In this guide, I will tell you how to get the sound file generated from 15.ai website work with SFM.

Firstly get Audacity[www.audacityteam.org]. You can use other sound editing program if you want but as long you do it right.

NOTE: You can use other sound or video editor program to convert the sound file if you wish.

Problem with the 15.ai sound file
Assuming you know how to use 15.ai, you create the voiceline you like, click the download button below to download the file.

Then, you import the sound file into SFM mod folder of your choice like usermod or something.

The problem starts when you're in the import sound pop up window about to import sound into your session, and it DOES NOT WORK. The sound clip doesn't play the sound when you click. Then after you import the file, the sound clip is just a very thin clip you can barely see if you zoom in enough and you can't interact with it.

The source of the problem is the sound file downloaded from the site is the file is in WAV format which SFM prefers but in MONO sound instead of STEREO which is incompatible with SFM.

The solution is to use a sound editor such as Audacity to convert the mono sound into a stereo sound and export the file as WAV 16-bit PCM format with 44100Hz sample rate
Solution
  1. Import the file into Audacity. Select the whole track (Ctrl+A), then press Ctrl+C(Copy) and Ctrl+V(Paste) to duplicate the track. Now you have two identical tracks.

  2. Select all (Ctrl+A), click the small down arrow next to the sound file name on either track and select "make stereo track". Both tracks combined into a stereo track.

  3. Now export the track as WAV 16-bit PCM, and import it the mod folder of your choice. Now, the sound file works.
WARNING: If SFM was running in the background while you editing the sound file, make sure the name of the file is different than the original name because SFM still "sees" the old file unless you restart it

This is all fine and well... If the site's even working, and a lot of the times of the year, assuming it even makes it to 2030, it's not. I get it thought, it costs them thousands of dollars to operate vs server traffic and all those files but they can't let the source code get copied. Nothing quite like that site though. It was nice being able to make new TF2 animations with comparable authentic voice lines as well as Wheatley and GlaDOS saying other stuff. Just hope Valve is cool instead of take them offline though.

laziest way? look i don't know much about ai but i'm pretty sure this kind of system wasn't easy to make, and it's a lot more convenient for people who don't have the time to splice up voice lines and mix them together as smoothly as the professionals can

its evolving. just backwards. 15.ai is the laziest way to make tf2 animations and its not even funny. sentence mixing is way better

@headcrab It's probably not down forever. Be patient. Let the creator take his time. ;)

Thank you, it actually helps, I don't really like downloading stuff but I had no other choice because I don't know where I could convert stuff to stereo, so thank you.

Thanks. I read this before starting to make my first SFM short!
