How to (almost) master every puzzle
By Proxykon
This guide will give you a quick and easy understanding in how to effectively use the barely explained hint system in FLIP. With it, you can solve a majority of the game without spending too much time on it. I hope I can help you out and make the puzzle solving less of a headache for you. Thanks for reading and/or rating the guide!

--- Introduction ---
The hint system of FLIP can seem completely useless at times. It seems to only display help at certain points in time or after specific moves/flips made. After reading my guide, you'll know how to effectively use it to your advantage and easily solve (and master) puzzles without spending too much time on planning and thinking.
1. The Issue
If you start solving any puzzle, you'll notice that hints only appear sporadically and they rarely seem helpful in solving puzzles with the least amount of moves possible (i.e. mastering a puzzle). The issue is that the system is never explained properly. Hints appear when the game recognized that you performed a recurring action.

What does that mean?

It means that you performed an action which basically reversed the same move you made before, effectively moving you further away from the solution than bringing you closer to it. Knowing this, you can exploit this feature of the hint system to your advantage.
2. The Solution
Whenever you are faced with a puzzle and are currently at 0 moves, perform a recurring action.

What do I mean by that?

Perform two flips which basically negate each other, e.g. rotate the rightmost two stones TWO times. Obviously, the puzzle hasn't changed one bit and it shouldn't have counted as two moves (since you performed a flip and then another one which reversed it) but suddenly, the hint system is available!

Note: Should the rightmost two stones be the same (i.e. two ones) you need to flip the rightmost three stones for this trick to work.

Back to the hint system - it will now give you the CORRECT solution up to the 3rd to last step (i.e. you will have to figure out the last three moves of the puzzle by yourself). The good thing about these hints is that they always display the solution which will also let you MASTER the puzzle.

And this works on EVERY puzzle in EVERY level (apart from those with equal or less than 3 moves total).
3. Conclusion
That's all there's to it. Now get to solving; those 5.073 puzzles don't master themselves!

@KutarFOX

I don't think so. Master means to solve it within the minimum amount of steps the game requires of you. Being "almost optimal" by being a step or two slower won't count towards it, I'm afraid.

Does only having "almost optimal" count toward master achievements?
